The first movie I ever went to see (as a teenager) in theaters was Young Guns. I have been enamored with his story ever since. Years ago I bought Daniel A. Edwards book in paperback. I am not an avid reader, but love mysteries (particularly books by JA Jance that take place in AZ, NM, and Seattle). I couldn't put the book down. i even lent the book to friends to read. The claims made by Brushy Bill Roberts seemed so outlandish I found myself immediately saying no way. By the end of the book I was convinced that there was embellishment in Roberts' post 1881 stories but absolutely believe him to be the infamous Lincoln County "outlaw".

i think the person saw the info about the Billy the Kid tin pic, them were apparently reverse image based on info about the gun in the picture. and they probably assumed all old pics were therefore reversed.

When greedy murderous money land grabbing politicians rewrite our history books they always gonna be comin up smelling like roses where the little people fighting for their basic rights and protecting their lands and families are the “barbarians and thugs” The hypocrisy and murderous ways of the law back then had the power and the means to keep their boot on anyone and take over wherever and whenever they wanted .. the genocide of Native American tribes swept under the rug to steal their land!!! AND THEN stealing the land of poor non politically backed farmers and ranchers and silencing and vilification of so called outlaws like Billy the kid for standing up to it!?!? Those politician and so called sheriffs had more blood on their hand than the regulators and Billy Ever did!

I had a stroke in July 2023. It is not a fun thing to experience. Sitting with my family they did not realize I was having a stroke. How could all these strangers know Bill had one???

Sorry have to say something else. It would be stupid for Bill to admit in front of the press and lawmen that he killed 2 men in his escape from jail!! Bill never got a fair meeting with the governor for a pardon he was promised back in his youth. Bill was denied the pardon he was promised that’s why he had to escape jail in the first place. If he had been given the pardon in the first place Pat would not have been hunting him because he would have been free!!!!

As Queen Elizabeth 11 said “ remembrance may differ” seems to fit this situation. Historically and Pats family state things happen one way and Billy and others remember the truth! Pat was not a honest lawman and did not kill Billy!!

I don’t think Pat killed Billy!! I believe Pat knew that Billy would kill him if he ever tried. Billy lived and Pat’s life wasn’t that great. Billy’s life was a real mystery until Bushy Bill came forward. History will someday hopefully come out we will all know the real truth!!

You know what , i heard the story of john miller and it matches what sederwal and graves said that the workbench had enough blood on it someone was still alive , im thinking john miller was billy barlow and it makes sense matching the evidence they found and gives credence to Roberts as billy the kid , a pair of billies.

Man, I wish President Truman could have given Brushy a presidential pardon! I've heard that certain people are blocking DNA tests, which would finally determine whether Brushy really was Billy. That's too bad, because I believe that would finally prove his story and he could at least be pardoned posthumously. ...plus it would shut a few people up in the comments lol!

As far as I am concerned Brushy was billy... He just wanted to die a free man.

Billy the kid was right handed. They since have flipped the photo, as tin type cameras take a mirror image and upside down. Just like your portrait camera on your phone, is reversed. It wasnt until 2011 when the photo was sold they discovered the tin type would have been back to front.

According to the American Red Cross a bullet wound can bleed up to 5 minutes. So, saying "Billy's" wound did not bleed for 2 hours after he was shot, is not true.

That's definitely him, you just have to imagine what the Tintype would look like if it wasn't warped. His face is all lopsided in that and people who knew Billy said the photo didn't do him justice. The pose and lighting made his chin look weak, when it wasn't and he didn't have an asymmetrical face. I wish some skilled photo editor would fix the tintype and fix the warping on a computer!

No death photo for a well known gunslinger like Billy the Kid, only confirms the story that Pat Garrett helped Billy fake his death.

I'm sorry but i dont think it is Billy, his face to me doesn't resemble the tin type in the slightest. I personally think it's just a photo of Ma, pah and junior.

Interesting, but, why didn’t Alexander Zapruda have his motion film camera rolling- so we’d have a Zapruda film to retouch in to more lies. Just like the Lincoln assassination, you have old men being interviewed, many years after the event and they enhance their position within and to the story. These are lonely old men whom liked the attention, but, may have been paid for their story as well. Due to this- they feel the need, and are peer pressured to offer new info to feel relevant within the dwindling golden twilight of their, one-time, legacy. It’s always these old senile men, whom have a small relation to the story, whom create the lies that allow for a silly conspiracy. They usually do this after those whom could vet the story properly, have already died… As a person with common sense- ignore all accounts from after 1885, and only focus upon those from within a few years of the event. Anything after this time allows for embellishment and lies. Henry McCarty died that night at the Maxwells. Maybe he was killed an hour or two prior to Garrett’s account, maybe not. Maybe Pete killed the kid… who knows, but, he died that night. Period-end of story!
