Blending with Appleton Estate Jamaica Rum
Просмотров 53Месяц назад
Im not a Rum guy, but Appleton and the time I spend with David Morrison, helped me appreciate some Rum a bit more. On top of that, we spend a large amount of time speaking about Blending, a topic which I feel is underrated in the Sprit world. Grab a Glass, maybe some Rum and let's talk about what makes Appleton and Blending so interesting. 0:00 Intro 01:15 Why is Blending so Special 02:06 Apple...

The seaweed is added in with the burning peat rather than being part of the peat itself.
Hey @brianstubbs1763 that makes much more sense then what I was thinking! Any idea how it affects the flavor?
Great whisky!
Great Job Armann
🙏
❤
Nice video! Their neighbours are a beer brewery called Bossche Brouwers ;-) We will have our CD release party on the 23rd of June with both of them, that will be a blast! Bossche Stokers will do a moonshine tasting 🙂
That sounds awesome! Some good shine and music! You can’t go wrong! Cheers!!
I just started exploring the world of NA spirits and yeah, the prices seem crazy
Hey @JoeyTen I actually tried to contact some people I know in Switzerland making Non Alcoholic "Spirits" no one would honestly share their costs or go into detail in their process. But fun fact is that it allows them to work around some European laws limiting the advertisements of Spirits over 40%. Just in case the market was not fishy enough already :)
@@thewhiskeymarch Interesting... I mean it makes sense - I would guess that these NA "spirits" are just flavored drinks, legally, like Coca-Cola. I understand why a business wouldn't want to share too much info about their margins though. I suppose it might be easier to investigate from sort of a "bottom up" approach: Figure out how to make the stuff, find ingredient prices, bottling costs, licensing stuff (FDA, etc.), logistics, etc. That might be a lot of work though, so not sure if it would be a worthwhile endeavor (unless you plan so start your brand of NA spirits). But it would be interesting!
@@thewhiskeymarch FWIW, I found some ingredients for a zero-proof "bourbon": ruclips.net/video/c5pVW8-elWQ/видео.html
Awesome suggestion @joeyten I have to say I am very curious to try it! If you try it before I get a chance please let me know 😁 Popcorn was a surprising addition on top!!
You have great sound, video, and information. Instant subscription from this Alabama Man.
Thank you very much! Great whiskey inspires! By the way, is your accord still for sale? 😁
Only if we could get it in michigan...🤔👍🥃😉
I sure hope you can! But knowing how hard it is to distribute whiskey through the US… it maybe tough. You may have better luck traveling to Switzerland! 😁🥃
If you are going through Illinois, some Binny’s has the cask strength
Hello @@bernardcwalsh Thanks for Sharing!!! Cheers!
What an enthusiastic view on our distillery. Thank you, Armaan!
he was a generous man! lucky to met him! met him in Lexington
Very Lucky! I was sad to hear he passed away a few years ago.
Wait what is water colouring, surely thats just more water 😂
Hahaha great catch! I didn't even recognize that redundancy! I should have said, Carmel water coloring :). To make the whisky seem more "aged" or as it is argued by the distilleries, uniformed.
@@thewhiskeymarch ah that makes more sense, for a second their I actually thought someone had invented water colouring 😂
If you haven't seen it Brewzle just done an awesome video on dettling.
Hello @StevenScone. Great point! I watched it but maybe others who see this haven't. In all honesty mine is very high level. His provides way more! I'll link it on the description too! Thanks for the comment!! Cheers 🥃
awesome video :-D
Wow, loved the video. Just came across your channel and I'm glad I did. Keep it up!
Hello @zerOSkill358! I really appreciate you taking the time to watch and comment! I will do my best ☺️ maybe with a whiskey in hand! Cheers!!
This guy talks like he has ice cubes in his mouth
what a waste of time and money it is to be a whisky drinker
Ive always asked the same... gordons gin for eg exactly same price as the full proof stuff
Nice editing! I thought you had a much bigger audience considering the video quality 🎉
Honestly same, it's well done. I'm gonna add to his audience since he does well and see how he grows
Hey @boopy123 and @ridtheraptor9808 thank you both for the kind words :) I will do my best not to disappoint! Cheers! 🍻
@@thewhiskeymarch just wanted to add another compliment for your quality. Nice channel! I would totally subscribe if I could still drink whiskey (God I miss it). Hopefully if you do more non-alcoholic stuff in the future, it'll show up in my feed again 🙂
🥃
Um, hydrometers where around since 500 CE or so... Though I do not doubt your method, but it wasn't because we lacked hyrdometers.
Thank you @jordanjtbraun that I clearly did not know! Thanks for pointing me into another rabbit hole to jump into! 😁
Hey Jordan! I just wanted thank you for your input! It threw me into some interesting rabbit wholes and I wanted to make another video on the topic! It is at a very high level and I don't think it is anything you don't already know but I just wanted to say thank you 😊
@@thewhiskeymarch glad it was a useful comment! I love rabbit holes! Looking forward to seeing the fruit!
It's been proven that a pure liquid when shaken cannot foam therefore when shaking a liquid the amount of bubbles, foam, indicates it's purity.
Have I ever wondered why people shake their moonshine? No.
It's all about the bubbles. You want to see the viscosity, because the thicker the liquid, the more likely a taste profile will be retained by the alcohol and not the water.
❤. History! This just shows how things were before technology! Shaking or bubble test is simply knowledge learned over a long period of time to determine how strong alcohol was!
Someone is an alcoholic...AA has space for one more 😂
We do the shake test with our kids all the time😂😂
Have you ever heard of the shake test.. why yes sir!!! If I shake a baby hard enough.... OWWWW.... you mean alcohol....... Yeahhh... yes I have.
No offense but you can age steak also. The caveat of aging too long results in no meat and only a hard outer shell akin to whiskey losing its properties. Good video regardless, though! Hope to see more!
No offense taken at all!! You won't believe this but I literally had a discussion with a BBQ restaurant owner a few days ago and he shared the same feedback! I was shocked by how much of the meat is no longer usable after only a few weeks of dry aging!
Is it 90 ?
Hey Denny, hard to say I don't quite recall and that battle is long gone. but I usually go down to 100ish
Pick something to look at, and practice your lines so u don’t look like lost
I appreciate you taking the time for the advise!! I'm still getting use to filming myself. Fingers crossed next time you see a clip I will have improved :)
So whats the point goin to the bar asking the most expensive drinks if they dont taste good?
Good question! And I don't have a perfect answer here. There are whiskey bars out were I don't worry about this. But sometimes the risk is worth it with the right people in the right environment! But to each their own! :)
It wont taste bad, just different.
3:25 had me suddenly glad I watched a video from Premodernist about how to interpret old Arabic names! Interesting video, thanks for making this!
Great information. Thank you. My grandfather always said that Razi was his great great grandfather 😊
Just to help. Its pronounced "Fy-Lee Bay". But with regards to the whisky, all their range is good, and getting better batch to batch release. The latest Sherry cask release #4 is fantastic.
Hehe thanks for that K! I appreciate all the help I can get :) I tried the Sherry at the event as well but I didn't write down the batch! But I'll need to keep an their development!
A good video that gets straight to the point. Keep it up
They can tell the proof without a hydrometer because of a quick shake and larger bubble mean higher proof when shaken, they stay longer too. Lower proof low wines have small bubbles that go away quickly.
Awesome idea😉👍
The typical oak does the job dummy and it does it well so wait all you want for your two hundred years old barrel hope your son's son loves it
Nice we need to do that in the 🇺🇸
I couldn't agree more especially with so many great cooperages in the states!!
Best explanation thank you!
Facts! Wish you the best of luck with your channel. The first step is the hardest one. Commend you 💪🏼
Thank you very much Blake! I really appreciate that :)
That’s actually so cool!
Amazing video! You should edit in some music🧡
