Backpacking the AUSANGATE Circuit (Cusco) 🇵🇪
This spring we spent a week in the Cusco region of Peru with the main goal of completing the Ausangate Circuit. To acclimate we did several day trips and hiked to Humantay Lake and to the viewpoint of the famous Rainbow mountains.
The distance of this trek is roughly 40 miles and it circumnavigates the 6000m peak of Ausangate. The trail stays above 14000 feet for the entire length. Unfortunately we were not able to complete the entire circuit due to weather but we had an amazing time and the Andes continues to not disappoint!

Hiking the MANASLU CIRCUIT in NEPAL Over 11 Days 🇳🇵
Просмотров 4 тыс.4 месяца назад
Nepal is home to the world's tallest mountains and a major climbing and trekking destination. In November 2022 me and my husband hiked the Manaslu Circuit, a 110 mile trek around Manaslu (the world's 8th tallest mountain), over 11 days. We typically enjoy hiking on our own but a guide is required for this region and therefore we were accompanied by one and 2 porters, along with 3 other hikers. ...

In June 2022, I headed out on the John Muir Trail. Unfortunately, the trip did not go as I expected! I still managed to learn a lot and I am excited to get back out there! This GHOST Town is Getting Swallowed by the Dunes (Kolmanskop)
Просмотров 7212 года назад
In the early 1900s, diamonds were discovered in the sands south of Luderitz. Almost overnight, a diamond rush began, drawing people from all over into the desert. Over 50 years, Kolmanskop flourished as a beacon of wealth in Namibia. But eventually the diamonds dried up, and the money dried up with them. I went alone into the ghost town to explore the houses getting eaten by the sand. If you li...

One of my Favorite areas but the bugs are something else
Awesome Job ! A must see video to prepare a trek in this part of Iceland. Beautiful images, amazing landscapes. A podcast-like voice and some non invasive but chill musics to support your editing. The sound of the nature surrounding is also something that hopefully you recorded without parasite noises. All calm and serenity, it,'s like you're living Sam Bridge's life in Death Stranding ! The final part of your video with all the explanations of your trip is something absolutly great and let me thank you for those important informations. I hope you the best for your next adventures and above all, take care of yourself. Just maybe one thing : it will be interesting to hear your road frien sometime, just to see him differently than just following...
which year did you do this trip??
Do you recommend trekkingpoles?
Good vid and good hike. Nice to see someone smart enough to stop when needed. Did it turn out to be Covid?
Wow, those mountainous plains with the high peaks in the background are something else. What a cool place! The elevation would definitely give me pause.
Thank you! I enjoyed your commentary.
God I missed you!
I day hiked the Black Sand beach north from Shelter Cove in mid-February. There was snow on King’s Peak, so it was chilly that year. I was briefly followed by a curious mountain lion down the beach, which was unexpected. It was a pretty epic day. I love the Lost Coast. I did find some rather large cat tracks in the snow the next day, and wandered into a heard of Elk the next. Memorable.
💩
Thank you.

Great video! What month did you go?
Good job ❤
I just saw this video , it popped up because I’ve been researching JMT since my older son and his girlfriend of 8 years are hiking it as I write. I’ve only seen the introduction and her getting 😅her gear ready. She is really crying hard. The thing is I don’t know why people have to follow a guy like John Muir. First of all he was a complete woodsman! He lived and hiked like his entire life. He didn’t just come out of LA surfing and said oh I’m going to hike this trail. He didn’t pay $600.00 like my son had to and buy a bear can. I did 11,000 miles with my sons 20 years ago I was 51. I hated the driving but the hiking and the camping was awesome. I drove from NJ picked my older son up in Brooklyn and we were off for 10 weeks. We started camping when we got to Grand Canyon from there Las Vegas and into California . We did the whole coast from Southern California to Northern California. Covered a lot of territory and saw the epic places from San Diego to LA to Malibu to Big Sur Carmel up into San Francisco Yosemite Lake Tahoe The only thing I hated was losing my keys Down the river on a raft in the Truckee and when I got poison oak outside the Yosemite park getting firewood. I climbed up into a brush of jagger bushes and that cut my legs up a perfect entry for the nasty oils of poison oak! I had it bad as the pharmacist said. 😢😢 I was jumping off the bridge in Yosemite into the Merced River and sleeping for a month in camp 4. Climbing to the Emerald pool and swimming across to the other side! The hikes were amazing. Bear came through every night in camp 4 Yosemite. That was 20 years ago you can’t even get in that walk in part of the park for like 2 years now. Everything has changed because of internet. The only thing that hasn’t changed is the beauty of the forests and mountains! But the Point I’m trying to make is why people feel they have to do this 2 to 3 week hike of over 200 miles in 2/3 weeks. It’s extreme if you’re not use to it. And that’s not how John Muir did it. Believe me. That trip was deeply spiritual for me. When I saw the redwoods I broke down and started crying and telling my boys that’s all I wanted them to see and feel on that 11,000 mile trip. To take in the beautiful nature that is such a gift in life! Like when you see a shooting star or a rainbow. That aweha moment that goes right to your heart and soul. I wanted them to see it and feel it and for me to witness my boys seeing and feeling it. For a Mom there’s nothing better! There were so many moments like that! It was a once in a lifetime. It’s something you can’t duplicate. God rolled out the red carpet the entire way! And watched over us. We made it up into Portland and int Seattle and started heading home but still so much more to see . We went to Jackson hole and saw the Grand Tetons and camped in Yellowstone for 4 nights. So incredibly breathtaking! I’m pretty lucky to have had these times.
I really appreciate these experiences. I had my own this last august. For similiar reasons I left the trail after a week. It was devastating in many ways. Many lessons learned and already starting to plan for this next year. Not giving up!
I really enjoyed your video :) It has such a peaceful and relaxing vibe. You got my subscription!
On holidays, prepare to park on Crabtree Road before you turn off toward the trailhead. Some idiots block the passable side of the road. Don’t bother looking for parking if you have a low clearance, or you’ll get damage like I did.
Great video 🙌 we liked the journey and the destination. Beautiful scenery 🤩🤩
Awesome video with tips and directions, thank you so much! When it’s cooler really want to experience this one, is this trail on one all trails navigation or all 3 separate ? (ladder, rope and painted canyons) for our SUB too 🤩🤩🙌🙌
Hey! When you visited in Autumn? Is it October early or mid?
🫶🫶🫶🫶
Why the time crunch? Weather?
You mean "What used to be California's best kept secret". But hey, anything for hits.
Nice video.. like the summary of the hike too.
It's cooler if you hike out of White Wolf--up toward Tuolemne--Campground (and they have running water in their restrooms to wash, tho for tent camping nearby Porcupine Flats is a better campground--primitive and beautiful). May Lake is so pretty and there is a cool woods on the side of a mountain, then meadows of wildflowers before you get to the lake. Around the side of the lake to the right, is a switchback trail going down the other side or the small ridge (don't go near if if it's raining! You can't get back up it.) that heads past the Hetch Hetchy Reservoir and eventually down near Yosemite Falls to the Valley! You trace the trail Teddy Roosevelt and John Muir took over 100 yrs ago (tho they had horses), they got to see the 2d valley of Yosemite b4 San Francisco turned it into a reservoir. I won't be alive for it, but I'm waiting for Gen Z to build a new reservoir somewhere and drain Hetch Hetchy, recreating the valley it was, but with what we now know would be far more ecological. No cars. Electric transit (train or?) could deposit campers in campgrounds created to protect plants and animals...and yet deal with the huge numbers of people who want to camp in Yosemite--paradise as beautiful as Yellowstone but a little kinder?
Sometimes the wise thing is to stop. And on video that is very important, because many people wouldn't even think that's an option. That's why so many people get seriously injured or worse. Thanks for risking sharing this and showing that not making your goal is a success!! You'll be back 🥰🫂
My son did the lost coast hiking with his Boys Scout Troop 220 from San Jose about 3 years ago when the was 14. I'm so proud of him. Also and specially proud of you doing this alone and cherishing the beauty of our Northern California. Thank you for doing this and sharing the beauty with us.
Thank you for sharing! Love the different hikes!
Can anyone compare this to the westfjords? I really want to go there but it may be too far for my trip
Emigrant Wilderness is the best, I like to soak my cotton t-shirt with stream or lake water to keep cool while hiking
You hike in a cotton shirt?!
@@Macc_spice normally I'm in a wetsuit surfing, but if I dress I'm in cotton, always
You probably know, wet cotton has an SPF of about 2. But you’re a surfer, so you probably have lots of melanin protection.
@@ricksonora6656 that's a strange choice for the backcountry..
@@Macc_spice I was warning. Most people don’t know you can get UV damage through your clothes.
Your Amazing!! Wow!!
Missing the shuttle - Rookie Mistake!
Cool suspension bridges!
The rock wall you saw is an overturned sedimentary bed. That whole area is full of amazing folds and faults.
We have camped there for many years. Very well known place for Californians.
Did you track your mileage? Iv read most places call it like 22 miles, or 21.7?
This is very cool.
That's why I never post anything on the Internet.
Good to see you looking vibrant and at full-strength, compared to looking ravaged by the combination of virus and sleep deprivation on the JMT. I've hiked Banff, but not Jasper...yet. Were you apprehensive about the Grizzlies? Neither of you looks to be carrying bear spray, at the ready. The fear of a chance encounter with a Grizzly is always unpleasantly in the back of my mind when I am hiking the Canadian Rockies.
You never told us what it was...was it Covid? Altitude sickness? Food poisoning?
Guess it's not a secret now
TY. Awesome video. Was fortunate enough to have hiked thru Emigrant Wilderness areas back in the Day! Instantly recognized the specific crunch boots make on that crumbling granite on those enormous slabs! Gods Country I called, such mesmerizing and serene wilderness. New Subber here! Off to check out your other vids. 😀Cheers and Happy Backpacking!💪🏻👌😎
The thing that sucks about hiking is hiking back. 😅
sykes hot springs in big sur no permit needed
You're blessed with such a beautiful weather. I did the circuit last month. The weather cleared up for only 3 days and only till afternoon.
That's why yo do trekking in sep-oct-nov in Nepal that's the perfect time to visit Nepal you will get clear weather beautiful mountain views and biggest festival of Nepal
I heard the mountains in Nepal are tall!
Lol do u even where mount Everest is??? 😂😂😂😂 that glass need to be fixed.
Man, those long bridges would freak me out. I suppose I would conquer them though. Fantastic country! I guess if the state is going to mandate you travel with in style, at least enjoy the lighter packs!
