The global prevalence of type 1 diabetes mellitus (T1DM) in children and adolescents under the age of 20 is approximately 1.5 million. Despite advancements in treatment, glycemic control remains sub-optimal for most individuals with T1DM. Regardless of the insulin regimen employed, the intricate demands of diabetes management require that children and their caregivers make numerous daily treatment decisions. Therefore, this highlights the critical need to empower both children and their caregivers to navigate these choices effectively. One of the methods to achieve this is through the development of an age-appropriate educational tool for children and adolescents with T1DM.
