I can think of a couple more reasons. First of all, the race swapping. Hermione in the books was white. Get the hell over it! obviously I have no problem with black or Asian characters in the books… So long as they were originally black or Asian just because that was their character. I can't stand race swapping, and I wouldn't like it either if you made a black character white just because… "Representation". I hate it, and I wish it would stop. Secondly, this whole "Granger-Weasley"rubbish. since when in the wizarding World did this sort of feminist rubbish come about? Cut that crap out po-lease. Rose was Rose Weasley, not Rose Granger-Weasley. Hermione was Mrs Hermione Weasley. Get the hell over it! And lastly, Hermione being Minister for magic. Oh please! To be honest, while she was really smart and all that, she doesn't really strike me as the ambitious type. I could imagine Hermione being at home, writing outlaws and all that sort of stuff and working around raising her children. I think Hermione would be smart enough to recognise that when her children were small, she needed to be at home with them, and whatever work she did would have to fit around her childcare responsibilities. and I think that Hermione would be smart enough to realise, once she had Rose, that if she did go back to work, then her mind was not on her job any more, but was on her baby. This is normal behaviour for women who have children. and I think Hermione would be smart enough and assertive enough to rearrange her professional affairs so that when her children were small, she could be there, at home, being their primary caregiver. The problem is, in order to make it to Minister for magic, she would not be able to take the time out of her job necessary in order to give her children a good start. sure, there are women who pull this off and good luck to them… I say that tongue in cheek. The harsh reality is, most of these highly driven and successful women who dump their kids in daycare at age 6 weeks so they can have careers are usually very unhappy women, with very unhappy children, who are headed for mother/child estrangement once their children are old enough. if Hermione is as smart as I am supposed to believe she is, I think she would probably work this stuff out pretty early on in the peace. Probably when Rose was a very small baby, if she didn't go back to work because she would realise her mind was on her child, then she would realise it pretty quickly when she went back to work. not to mention that, if Ron and George are running a successful business, Ron could easily step into the role as primary breadwinner. Intelligent people who can think for themselves are capable of working this stuff out and recognising that men and women, while of equal value, are radically different by nature, and respond in radically different ways to the arrival of children. I would like to think that Hermione would be smart enough to realise that. I would like to think that, if Hermione is as compassionate as we are led to believe she is in the books towards beings like how selves, surely she would be capable of extending that level of compassion to her own children by staying at home with them when they are small and need her. I bring this all up because, if she really does make it to minister for magic, it seems very much out of her character as an intelligent person who is capable of some sort of critical thinking as well as compassion. The harsh reality is, that in order to make it to the "top" and be Minister for magic, she would have to be a lot more cutthroat, a lot more ruthless, and essentially be able to shut down her own maternal compassion and her own maternal instincts towards her own children in order to achieve this goal. because, in order to become the top of your game, something has to give, and it is often family. If this is the case, then what it is most likely to lead to is a breakdown in Ron and Hermione's family unit, and children who would grow up to resent her and the ministry, and could even "go wrong". I know that in the fantasy of the writers of this travesty of a play, that all this gets overlooked and neglected because clearly they have drunk the feminist Kool-Aid. but the harsh reality is that this would be the reality of the situation. And I can't see that Hermione as a character would be okay with that situation. Of course this doesn't mean that Wynn her children are small that she doesn't do any construction of laws or any work from home while they are napping or anything like that. It's just means that the sacrifice would be that I can't see her being able to make it to minister for magic. Because becoming a minister for magic would not be a career goal that Hermione could easily move in and out of while her children were small, and come back to it when they became more independent. So yes, this is another huge, huge problem I see in this "play".
