Golden For a Moment
"Golden For a Moment" is a short movie, filmed and produced by Sophie Odelberg and is about the professional climber Matilda Söderlund and her attempt to become the first woman to climb the route "Golden for a moment" 8C in Utah, USA. A goal she has to reach within 14 days. But when she falls, day 13, two moves before the finish, everything is turned up side down.
The movie is about working towards a goal, fear of failure but still keep fighting and to have the courage to change course in life.

So inspiring, truly moving. A wonderful film to watch, I was hooked
We want uncut footages, screams and technical, trembling movements, not emotional music nor corny stories. That's not part of the climbing.
This video deserves so much more attention
fakish
Such a great video and awesome climbing!
what do they mean at the end with "the first woman to climb..."?????????
My hands got sweaty watching this video
Awsome job
Very nicely done! Good story and filming.
Such an enjoyable film.
Passion and dedication are like a gateway to happiness. Maybe climbing is the key to joy. Congratulation Matilda Söderlund.
So inspiring!!
Great work in this documentary, we look forward to the next.
"Having a career wasn't for me" i dunno who loves going to work, i know i don't
Pretty sad that you don't know anyone who likes their job well enough not to say "having a career isn't for me". She didn't say she didn't "love going to work"; she was clearly quite unhappy with her job. If you have a job you hate, it's a big world, so try something else. Easier said than done, I know, but having a happy life is worth putting some real effort into.
@@Gregorypeckory i don't hate my job. its acceptable and quite tolerable, it allows me to do the things i want in life, like climb and have a few amenities. However, i think being a pro climber would be better, ill look into it. Maybe ill do that instead
@@ryanwsu4 That seems like a great idea; if you have enough passion to give yourself a solid chance, maybe it's doable, and if so, I imagine it would be transformative. Good luck!
Canon!
Your reaction at the top was priceless
Any chance someone knows the name of the piano piece in the beginning of the video? It’s beautiful.
Peter Sandberg - Dismantle
Wow what a climb! Projecting is all about mind game, really inspiring!
amazing and quite inspiring.... love the name of the route.... Don't we all just want to be "golden for a moment" while we climb? Thank you so much for sharing.
Liked "love climbing ... best feeling in the world"
hmm i thint the first carabine look wrong inserted :) 3:22
Amazing climb “and” Alex Honnold...wow
Congrats!
That was a gorgeous film. Really appreciate the process! Thank you!
I often see this kind of video an i wonder: “will i ever see a video in which someone try the hardest and just fail?”. I so dearly hoped this wasn’t the one. Congratulazioni ;)
amazing piece! loved it
The skip at 6.25...she looks more relaxed after...sorry for hating, but...
it's a rest position... the editor decided to cut out the time she was just resting, doing nothing and clipping... do you make suspicious observations like this on every climbing video?
Bravo
Sasha Digiulian has climbed Golden.
Cole Ellsworth Hey hey, Sasha is a good friend of mine and she didn’t climb golden (yet)! There is a video of her trying it but she never sent it unfortunately
@@MatildaSoderlund I'm sorry, I was mistaken! I thought by the video she had climbed it. Congratulations! I was inspired by your story!
Congrats on the awesome climb Matilda. Didn't Sasha climb this route few years ago?
youtube suggested me this video ruclips.net/video/cpvyIYseFYg/видео.html after watching this one, you may be right that Sasha also climb it. Anyway this doesn't mean that Matilda's performance is less awesome, so congrats Matilda, keep it up!

@@MatildaSoderlund I apologize then. Is good that you clarified this since there are comments saying same thing about Sasha. Looking forward to see your next projects. 🤗
@@MatildaSoderlund thanks for clarifying. The video and the article suggested that she had climbed the route. Absolutely doesn't take away anything from you in any case. Keep up the great climbs !
So crazy! Congrats on the send and thank you for sharing your story.
Last day send = Best send.
Super cool video. So inspiring!
Very nice video and climbing! And the girl 😉
Very inspirational! Thanks for making this video and well done Matilda!
Super Nice Edit and Good photography, lovely how you catch how humble and down to earth Matilda is.
Great film :)
Very well done short! Feels almost Reel Rockian. Random Honnold appearance made me laugh -- was glad that you didn't let that distract from Matilda at all.
AMAZING story and effort! She's a great climber and lovely person.
Awesome footage and lovely story telling. I thought, Anne Struble climbed it in 2014/15, but I couldn't find any proof. When we met her and Bill Ramsey, both looked super close to sending... libertymountainclimbing.blogspot.com/2014/05/beal-athlete-anne-struble.html?m=1 Anyway a hugh accomplishment!
nice idea, but please show the whole route next time. More climbing less drama in my humble opinion. Thanks for the video
Hi P! Totally understand what you mean but I didn't create this movie to only be for the climbing community. I wanted to create a short movie that would inspire people also outside the climbing community. To tell a story, not just show Matilda climb another route. I wanted to share her process, first time she try's to project, her struggles and her highs, not to just film the route cm by cm. Matilda climbing Golden in this movie is a tool to tell a bigger story. To take on a challenge, to work towards a goal and continue toward that goal despite adversity. Something that could make people feel recognition, climber or not. Athlete or not. Hopefully that could inspire more people to find their way into climbing or just taking on a challenge despite fear of failure. / Sophie
@@sophieodelberg In this case the movie is spot on. It is just that I miss, besides the well told story, some minutes showing the actual climb (In my opinion climbing itself while giving it all is a methaphore of the culmination of projecting). I guess this would be a way to aim these film both to the general public and to the climbers. Anyway, it is just a viewer's opinion. Thanks again for your work!
@@sophieodelberg good to know. definitely a nice short movie about climbing. Last days are always the best :D Could you maybe post the uncut ascent video as well (if possible :)) ?
@@pauborratrivera7251 Thanks for the feedback :) Totally understand!
@@christianpunkt2887 Thank you! Haha yes:)! Can't promise that I will do that. It's a matter of time :)
great vid! lol Honnold suddenly appears outta nowhere to give beta. i want that!

Wow! Literally GOLDEN.
Underbar film. Keep up the good work!
Awesome movie Sophie!
