NerdSEQ CV16 Expander
Просмотров 7 тыс.4 года назад
A small promo video about the new 'More CV 16' expander for the NerdSEQ Eurorack sequencer. It adds 16 more CV outputs which are totally integrated into the sequencer. The CV outputs can be either pitch or note scaled (in pairs of 0..10 Volt or -5/ 5 Volt). Beside being outputs for notes or pitches with glide settings for each output, it also contains several modulators which can be routed to e...

NerdSEQ Tutorial 3 - Sequencer Screen
I'm speechless, this new entry is majestic. It wasn't necessary, but you proved again the NerdSEQ is the best ecosystem in the eurorack field. Thanks a lot for your work.
Dude stop releasing crap and fix what you got, the IO midi expander don't work after adding the Multi IO, Can't slave clock to the Nerdseq, a reason why move to the Oxi, this got to the point of stupidity... keep adding more.
Hey 528, yes that is correct, the Midi functions of the Midi-IO or TRS-A expanders are replaced by the TRS-Port on the Multi-IO. You can't have Midi -functionality with both expanders at the same time. One Midi Expander per system. You can still use the Gamepad function of the Midi-IO which the thru port is for on the Multi-IO. You can do the same clock-things with the Multi-IO on the TRS ports and the adapter-cables for DIN Midi come with it. So they are no limitations when using the Multi-IO, instead it adds many features. I am not sure what should be fixed at this point, everything does work and they are no known critical issues right now. Of course there can always be improvements which I got plenty of in the new firmware as usual with every update. You can always leave a feature request or issue report on the XOR Forum and I am happy to help!
Hi Thomas I checked the Program Change variant you explained in the end for the elektron analog rytm mkI. For that I builded two rows of different tracks, in the midi track for the rytm i set the program change in the first row of the pc column and then i tried to switch between them manualy. It Kind of stayed in sync, but sometimes it changed 64steps or 16steps too late. I tried to trigger it always a bit earlier, lets say 10steps before the change should happen. But like i said, sometimes it works and sometimes it doesnt. Would be awsome if this "always pre" option would consitantly work during a set! I was really happy to see that and that you thought about it. Anyways... Thanks for all your hard work and the continues support to the nerdseq and your community! ❤
The always pre setting should work as reported by elektron users and in my tests reliably on my Digitone. Keep in mind that the track where you have the program change (on the first row in the pattern) must be started already, since else it can't know the pattern with that command up-front. Put multiple patterns underneath and put the PC command in each pattern on the first row and test the general function. It should work. Also if you cue patterns then you got to be sure you start to cue them more than 1 bar before it should play the new pattern as else it can't detect the Pre-Program change on time. And again, the track you use for it got to run already. I can guarantee that with the pre-setting the Program change is being sent more than 1 bar before the new pattern starts and this should be fine with the Elektron gear. If that is not the case then Elektron are the ones to contact about that.
@@xorelectronics Thanks for your detailed answer! :)
Wauw Thomas, you never stop to amaze us by taking the NerdSEQ to another next level. I was just setting up a polyphonic section in my Eurorack with Sinfonion, but having 2x4 oscillators directly controlled in 1 track is just GREAT!. Even without filters these oscillators have massive amount of possibilities; can't wait to start creating sounds with them.
So nice expender one more Thomas !!! When it would be avaible ?
Looks great. As expected the sync'd LFO feature is just insanely powerful. I know CV-16 there are some limitations that the LFO is free-running. Thomas if you would consider doing a CV8 or LFO8 module that would be an instant buy, allowing a few synced lfos or PEG/quadigy type envelopes that can then be routed back to the mappings or just to a single output. Doesn't have to be as complex routing as the automators.
Synced LFO's are planned for the CV16. It needed the clock distributed to the expanders which I added now for the dualchord. So that is not in the way anymore for the CV16 or the Trigger16s ratchet functions...the only thing in the way is my time! Local LFO's can be synced already and also routed back to the mappings. External LFO's will not be able to route back to the mappings.
@@xorelectronicsjust retrying to find the LFO bit in the video - what’s the time code?

@ Thankyou!
@@xorelectronics this is huge. Thanks for all your efforts. Can't wait for it to drop once you find the time
🤠👍 Thanks for the show !
Thank you!
Awesome stuff...!! Thanks for all you do, Thomas. The evolution of this module is incredible.
thanks!!!
Let's crowdfund a decent mic for Thomas
Hehe...gonna research for a better setup.
Thx 4 taking time 4 that ❤
I was looking in the manual and it says I can access triggers 9-18. I can't figure out how. The manual says in the settings but I don't see it. Do I need to have the More Triggers 16 assigned to two different tracks?
Via the swap setting in the track setup you choose between outputs 1-8 or 9-16 for the first 8 columns. That is indeed a per track setting. With the drummatrix you can access all 16 triggers at the same time directly.
@@xorelectronics I can't seem to find the swap setting, but I'll keep looking!
@@EricFoster on a Trigger16 Track you go to its Track Setup Screen. (either via the Nerd Menu or press the Patch button twice). There is a setting called 'Swap Outputs'. This one can be changed to 1-8 or 9-16. (Manual Page 103 for more information)
@@xorelectronics found it, thank you. I don't know why that was so hard for me. Much appreciated.
Watched this. Baffled. What are the numbers in the table? You describe them as ‘patterns’....but...what? What do the numbers mean?
What the f is happening with the trigger 16 😅
It’s doing what the Music Thing Turing machine does. It’s too much to explain in a comment, you can look it up.
@@ericMT I see now. Is this for only half of the Trigger16? The other half can still be used as normal?
Oh ...
anyone knows how to get to the next 8 triggers?
Via the track setup and the swap option where you can choose between 1-8 and 9-16. And with the drummatrix you got all 16 anyways.
The firmware rules, the hardware rules. Keeps getting better and better. Thank you XOR 🙌
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!
Bring it
Ahh cool!
i feel like the music in many nerdseq demos may possibly scare off more customers than it attracts.
Thanks for the compliments 🙂
@@xorelectronics sorry not trying to be mean . just sharing my thoughts. i don’t think many of your customers are interested in 90s style gameboy game scores. nerdseq is my favorite sequencer by far! some more contemporary dancefloor demos could possibly attract a ton of new customers and help the cause! ❤
@@chriswest5877 basically this is just a developers tech update which shows that the NerdSEQ can also sequence the ART stuff polyphonically from only one track. It’s not a real announcement or anything like this, so I didn’t put much effort into it. And in any way I am also sure other people would do a much better job with the music and they are enough videos around. I concentrate at the moment more on the features.
😮😮😮😮❤
This module is such a beast. Love it! Super appreciative for the continued development.
Now going home after holidays has a double purpose!
Thank you 🙏
Woah. So wait, where is the i2c input on the er-301?
sorry.. can't find in manual or online how to connect MULTI-IO EXPANDER to nerdseq in (?)
The Multi-IO comes with an installation guide. The manual (page 160) is on the website or on the forum. xor-electronics.com/nerdseq/
@@xorelectronics oh ! just noticed this paper in the box sorry. Had it since christmas but didn't install it.
@@moreausylvain ☺no worries. Enjoy!
Any info on i2c compatibility with Mannequins and Monome products?
Just Friends is supported. Teletype relies also on a integration of the teletype itself. More planned only on demand.
Hi, what resolutions are supported for the HDMI out?
The HDMI signal is 720p / 1080p. But the screen generated is the same as the NerdSEQ 480x320
…just love it.
Thomas does it again 🙌
Do you have some plans intergrade NerdSeq in VcvRack?
No
@@xorelectronics I'm crying
The Nerdseq is the goat.
updated and ordered :P !
Got my Multi IO Monday and installed the new firmware. Astonishingly good!
Yes! Thank you Thomas!
this is insanely cool!!!! thanks for keeping up with the hardwork
😍😍😍😍😍 thx u very much for your work
Thx seen to be a major upgrade, some ppl has the I2C expansion already, not here in US been waiting, when will come the batch
I just received the new expander in the mail! I can't wait to give it and 2.0 a go! Excellent job on all the new functionality!
love the megaman x text scroll
It’s going to be a long wait for the expander to be available mid January.. I’ve been looking forward to this, since it was first announced. Keep up the amazing work!
All are available except for the black ones, but they will show up at the distributors soon
@@xorelectronics of course that's the one I want, to match the other modules 🤣
What we need is more ‘non influencer style’
Such a great bit of kit! I am always learning new ways to use it.
Gosh, I can't wait for this to be available! Congrats, this is great work!
I have a question about the buttons on the nedseq, I would like to use the half size keyswitches on a project, is it something you can still get?
What an update ❤❤❤❤
Hardware is almost good. Opensource it so someone can make the firmware good.
?
Not really
this is an insane comment, it would literally/totally apply to almost all other digital hardware... but not here because Thomas has been consistently making insanely great updates to an already amazing firmware to the point that now it is (almost) almost too deep for one person to master it all . in other words the firmware is already great and yes others could expand on it but with the new firmware it's hard to really see where they would go next... its like a full blown computer now 🤯
@@jsogman yeah maybe he figured it out by now.
It's fine, git gud mpcboi 🤦🏿♂️
