He sings for love!

It was an abandoned nestling. The carers raiset it untill it could returne to the wild!

This one was not as it was too young and was being raised to be released. I painted a portrait of a cockatoo once that was toilet trained. It always flew to the back of its chair and crapped on a piece of paper. It respected property better than some humans.

@@PowellStephen- OK. Sometimes I'll see videos of chickens, but (I think) they usually have diapers on.

I irregularly feed magpies with slices of dog sausage. Just in case please note mincemeat is bad and possibly lethal for birds!

@@PowellStephen Thanks. I feed her lambs liver and only 3-4 small pieces, so she doesn't stop looking for her own food. She doesn't come every day which tells me she's doing just that. I so enjoy her visits.

@@Roman-555 Ours are very friendly, they hop inside if we leave the door open. Never tire of their beautiful songs.

@@PowellStephen Hi Stephen. I was originally shooting with a Sony RX10 Mk iv single lens ultrazoom, but got frustrated by it's limitations. I needed a light camera and my DSLRs couldn't be held steady cause I had to shoot off the screen so I invested in a Canon Legria video camera. I can hold this to my eye or support it on a monopod. I got a Rode microphone to mount on it which really improved the sound though the built in mic is OK. I am working under rainforest canopy and the video camera is really good in a poor light which the Sony camera wasn't. Very tricky dodging round undergrowth, vines, lawyer vine and thorny vine but it is so rewarding to get good video of these amazing birds. Yeah, Adobe, like Microsoft made everything rental rather than buy outright which is all a real rip-off. I'll get in contact later when I find space. Cheers.

Hi Stephen. I have also been posting on Instagram for some time under the handle @the _lyrebird_diaries. I actually have close to four hours of video, and though a lot of it is pretty average, it is all a record for the future. I edit it and post the best of it. I only recently thought of posting it here. Lots more to come.

Tony informed me it fledged and returned to the wild!

Thank you for your comment. I created the video after filming my visit. I was later told by Tony that the magpie fledged successfully and joined the local flock.

These birds also play an important role in reducing fire risk. They turn over and bury the leaf litter. Burung ini juga memainkan peranan penting dalam mengurangkan risiko kebakaran. Mereka membalikkan dan menimbus sampah daun.

And a bunch of other sounds as well. Known to mimic any sound it hears. Chain saw, hammers, car alarms, one in the forests near me sang flute music it picked up from a local girl practicing!
