Просмотров 1043 года назад
THE OSHKOSH HIGH SCHOOL A CAPPELLA CHOIR WAS FIRST CLASS: We won the praise of our town, of our state, of our region, and even had an international reputation, which led to a concert tour of Europe in the summer of 1967. This was a dream come true for our director, Fred Leist. For eighteen days in June 1967, the Choir under his direction and the Concert Band under the baton of James Croft sang ...

FIFTY YEARS AGO, the Oshkosh High School A Cappella Choir annually recorded Christmas albums, which would be played and purchased in all the brightly lit shops along snowy Main Street, as people happily bustled in and out searching for just the right Christmas gifts. Under the baton of our director, Fred Leist, we performed dozens of concerts and musicals in Oshkosh, Wisconsin, and sang at Madi...

DEDICATION OF A GARDEN / Dean Rudoy

In June 2002 in Oshkosh, Wisconsin, the Belle and Edward Rudoy Serenity Garden was dedicated at the new Oshkosh Community YMCA. Belle and Ed's son Dean gave the dedication remarks on behalf of his family. He spoke of the philosophical, spiritual, and consoling lessons that abound in a garden, where forms and patterns arise, unfold, and dissolve, where we humans are invited "to come down to earth".

Rebecca Luker has an otherworldly beauty, truly. It's not just her spectacular voice, it's everything about her. She radiates beauty and loveliness. What a joy to watch her. I'm grateful I can still find videos of her. I love this Jerome Kern song, so that was truly the frosting on the cake. She is truly an angel who was loaned to us for too short of a time.
Saw this show. Her great farewell. She was acid naked and regretted choosing career over family. She died w no one to comfort her but the greedy.
Still magic after all this time!😮
this woman had the voice of an angel... no exaggeration.... what a beauty in every way.
You improved the audio quality of this immensely. Thank you!
One of the most beautiful songs ever written! Wow!
Ehen i graduated high school ee all had yo memorize this song snd all the graduating class sang this song. It brings tesrs to my eyes
Thank you, Dean
Such a beautiful song and even more so knowing that Rebecca Luker is no longer with us us.
I loved rebecca Luke in everything .role she played .she was just magical. This performance of all the things you are was a recreation of the original performance of All The Things You Are ,as noted by Kitty Carlise Hart In Her Narration Of Broadway Originals ,the tittle of this Boston Pops clip. The previous comment made that the performance of All the things You Are was heavenly I concur HEAVENLY❤❤❤
Such a beautiful song by Kern and Hammerstein. And such beautiful voices!
Luker was superb here. Solo would have been much better than the tin can of a duet partner.
yes
Absolutely heavenly. True love in every way.
Fantastic song
So sublime and SOOOO moving!!! Rest In Peace, Rebecca Luker.
wow what a glamorous orchestra, Amazing!!!
my favorite old song I have been looking for, beautiful!!!!!!!
Beautiful I also liked Gordon Macrae singing this
If that isn't commitment, I don't know what is.
Ahhhhh, Dean's chock full of insight that resonates as a powerful antidote to today's madness, urging us to settle down and ponder jotting down our own life's extraordinary passages!
HELLO, EVERYONE -- Please note that I have uploaded another version of this video, brightened up, which you might enjoy seeing. Thanks for watching.
NOW..I know the MEANING of "INCOMPARABLE!"
We agree. There is nothing comparable to a singer, when they perform the truth. I just uploaded another version of this video, brightened up, which you might enjoy seeing.
The timeless beauty of Ms. Luker's singing is a gift to humanity.
I love how dark the tone feels as well. Is there more like this?
The transition starting around 2:00 is amazing. I get goosebumps
A glorious performance of a wonderful song. But a slight correction to your caption; this is the Boston Pops Orchestra and Chorus, not the London Sinfonietta and Ambrosian Singers. The latter performed on the studio recording of Kern works conducted by McGlinn with (almost) the same soloists, this video is of the Boston Pops's 'Broadway Originals' concert (first broadcast by PBS in 1990).
One of a kind singer
經典 !
Lena was an original! She was so unique! Beautiful and talented lady! So classy!
Thanks for your comment. She was all that you say. I just uploaded another version of this video, brightened up, which you might enjoy seeing.
Try jack jones
Too bad that a great score was turned into a stupid play.
She was absolutely wonderful! Wow!
Indeed, she was. I just uploaded another version of this video, brightened up, which you might enjoy seeing.
Rest in peace Rebecca . And thank you for this lovely song of love .
🌹 🌹🌹🌹 beautiful
So beautiful! ✨🙏

Chills always!
One of the greatest singers of all time a real legend and so beautiful
Thanks for your comment, with which I surely agree. I just uploaded another version of this video, brightened up, which you might enjoy seeing.
Wow, intense. Never heard her music before. Thanks for uploading.
Delighted to hear that this song was your introduction to Lena Horne. I just uploaded another version of this video, brightened up, which you might enjoy seeing.
@@DeansMegillah Thanks I'll check it out!
This lovely song reaches its apotheosis in this performance--impossible to imagine it bettered.
Love this rendition by Ms. Luker and company. Thanks for posting. Can anyone identify the opening orchestral piece? I’ve heard it before, but can’t give it a name. Thanks!
Isn't it the original verse of the song ?
I'm wrong this is not Kerns opening.....what is it?
Never heard that lyric before, but it's Kern's verse
I taped this concert on VHS when PBS had shown it on TV. The music sounds beautiful and melancholic.
needs a bigger ending... hehe.
4:48
Just gives me goose pimples every time I watch this concert. Thank you. ❤️
Taken to soon but not forgotten
Dean, you dirty dog! You recorded this? GREAT! What memories. How many of us were in the room at the time? How many of us were lucky enough to experience the excellence Fred Leist fostered? Thanks!
What a devastating loss to so many of us…
I debated with myself if I should express my opinion here. It may sound like heresy but here goes. Rebecca Luker was a marvel and a delight to listen to. Jerome Kerns ballad is magical and needs no further comment. Sometimes less is more. I found this production to be bloated. The appearance of the dancers at 4 :22 is superfluous and silly. The solution for me is simple , just listen and ignore the video. On occasion , more is less . My preference would be Beverly Sills performance - 1973 - Listen here : ruclips.net/video/2yTeixRxPBg/видео.html . Jerome Kerns - Oscar Hammerstein II. - Wonderful Orchestra - Excellent orchestration and of course the incomparable Beverly Sills standing center stage , no props just Beverly and the music. Perfect for me .
