Carson City Stuff I Like - Part 8 - 1889-CC to 1893-CC Morgan Dollars
beautiful coin. i'd love to see your whole ike collection in a video. i bet it's amazing.
Thank you! I plan on doing an Ike series similar to what I did with the Carson City silver dollar series. (...and the same for a Peace dollar series)
Nice one. Why you didn't attributed to reflect the error on the label??🤔, to risky? And the tpgs could return it questionable color?
I bought this one years ago....likely before 'improper annealing' was attributable on the label. I have not reconsidered re-submitting it, since I do not plan on selling it anytime soon. However, this coin would certainly attribute as improperly annealed, and certainly not questionable color. It has passed through some very knowledgeable hands prior to my own, that confirm improper annealing.
@@CoinStuffILike Now days tpgs err on on the safe side. I was disappointed when I found Improperly annealed coins( new ones) sent one to be attributed as improperly annealed and got the label, then a few weeks apart sent more from the same batch I found them and even darker than the first one and came back questionable color. 🤦🤷🪙🤔🤓
I really like the look of that coins. Makes me wonder why the mint doesn’t do that on purpose to offer a different finish. 🤔
@cgrillerstacker6695 I'm not one to tell the US Mint how to bake their planchets, but If Cheezit can offer different crispiness options, then maybe the US Mint can follow? lol
I have four blue tone 1964 proof. Around Ms 68 or 69 Fs
Excellent! Thank you for watching!
Why does it look like THE word TRUST is TRVST on your coins ?
Peace dollars were designed using a V instead of U in TRVST to represent Victory in WW1
Nice presentation. Learned a lot.
Thank you, and thanks for your viewership.
Excellent explanation. I recently acquired a '72 Type II with a CAC sticker. I tell you what, I had to wait a long time to find this. I too very much enjoy Ikes. Keep up your great work.
Thank you! I appreciate your viewership!
Another great video 👍👍
Thank you! Thanks for watching!
Only videos I feel compelled to watch with my pocket dictionary. Obliquely, Concave, Convex, Conjecture, Field Bending, Die Abrasions, 😩 Can I take this class Pass/Fail? 🤔
lol cgriller You haven't figured out that it is a drinking game? lol "Every time he says 'field bending', you have to do a shot" lol Thank you for watching!
Great job, I went to PCGS and can see the 2 dots on their picture. Very cool, I need to look at the 1971 silver proofs I have.
Thank you for watching, Dennis D!
Well done sir.
Thank you, yotefan!
Great education, you are going to make me look at my 1971s proof again, notwithstanding I already search them for nightcrawlers but d🎉on't remember looking in deep for the ddr💥🤔😅🤓🤓🪙🪙🪙👍
Start with the obverse....FS-801 has a peg leg R, and the nightcrawler has a serif R
Awesome presentation thank you so much. Picked up an oak peg leg the other day now I understand what I have. My Ike registry sets are named RatDog Coins. Silver set is #11 basic set is #15 a work in progress.
Awesome! Thank you for watching. I'll look for your sets.
Thank you Steve! One of the early pictures sure looks like a double die to me. I was looking at "Mad Die Clashes" Dollar Overlays and it seems a die clash may widen and lengthen that peg leg by the reverse L of DOLLAR. Have you come across any Ike clashes?
I'm not sure which image you are referring to WRT the doubling. It is quite possible - there were many many "doubled" Ikes. In 1971-S business strikes, two of the biggest/best "doubled dies" where not true doubled dies, but instead, wher products of multiple dies hubbed from a doubled working hub. ... material for another day. That said, I will try to demonstrate some of the peg leg Ikes that also have doubling present when I do the coin scope video.
I have many Ikes in my collection resulting from clashed dies. Clashed die Ikes are very common. What is cool / worth collecting are the Ikes that are from multi-calshed dies, like a triple or quadruple "talon head" clash....or clashed on atypical dates, or clashed that are fully struck up and not-yet repaired. Again...material for another video.
@@CoinStuffILike Thank you, that picture (the one you sent) is the one that looks like a true die doubling to me. Seems too large to be machine doubling. Look forward to more videos.
@@dennisduebelbeis2974 - I'm confused...I do not recall sending your a photo?
Wow published in PCGS. Congrats Professor Eisenhower Peg Leg 👏 Nice to be accredited for my steel wool acumen by such a prestigious scholar. 😎
lol Thank you for watching!
Sounds like the loan fell through again😩 Great history 👍 California Fractional Gold has always been an interest of mine. Very fascinating history. Surprised how small they are in hand vs pictures.
Thank you for watching/commenting, cgriller! Yes, no loan forthcoming for me. lol For CA fractional gold, maybe the photos should have a "objects seem bigger than actual" disclaimer.
ps - gave you a quick mention in my latest peg leg Ike video ;-)
interesting collection, the California octagon are one of my favorite, maybe affordable in lower circulation grades with some sacrifices. Thanks for sharing the collection
I agree - California fractional gold is potentially reachable for mid-level collectors, and nice to have in a collection from a historical perspective.
So cool! Thanks for linking the instructions.
You're welcome. Thank you for watching.
The double holders are great. The 21/21 is really awesome!
Thank you! I enjoy the juxtaposition in one holder. Here is a video on my other 2021 two-coin holder sets: ruclips.net/video/-v0ezRjHiIA/видео.html
Wow. Those tributes are awesome. I like the fact that they are 2 oz. Beautiful tributes. I appreciate you slabbing them for me. I’ll be sure to pick those up next time I am in town.🤫
Yes, the 2oz with ~dollar-diameter format is impressive in hand. I'll have them nicely packed up for you when you get here. 🤣
New subs to your channel 🎉🎉🎉
Thank you! I hope to keep you informed/entertained.
I’m in negotiations with the wife but it’s not looking promising.
It would be an incredible visit, if negotiations turn out for the better.
It should be called the “pirate” Ike because the peg leg is on the Rrrr. 🤪
I think you are on to something!!!
Sorry I was looking for the Eisenhower for Dummies class. 🧐 Is there a test? 😫 Very interesting video. I love the Ike reverse especially the bicentennial issue. BTW Merry Isthmus to you too. ⛄️
lol Maybe I'll do another version of the video aimed at the fifth grade comprehension level...for the Californians. lol Seriously though, thank you for watching. ....and no test forthcoming.
Some if my favorite pick up's may not be viewed as being smart but boy I really got joy from possession and learning .Really like the idea of dual holders with peace dollars being a great display.
Exactly!
Nice I hope to obtain a Daniel Carr one day would love a Peace Dollar 😀 🤞🏽
Thank you for watching, brownsugar! I'll keep an eye out for one. Unfortunately, I just sold two Dan Carr Peace dollars on eBay earlier this week.
What an awesome video. Thank you
Thank you for watching!
That Dan Carrvis a talented artist. Cool stuff. 👍
Numismatic art! Right on, cgriller!
Beautiful pieces. Thanks for sharing.
Thank you, Yotefan! Thank you for watching!
Were die Pair 3 original dies from Carson City or Dan Carr produced
No - Dan makes his own dies and numbers them accordingly. An exception would be Dan’s vintage cancelled CC die strikes. Those were die pair 37, used in the original CC Mint in 1884. They were then buried on the premise, and uncovered by Dennis Casinelli’s work crew in 1999. I did a video on the 1984-CC cancelled due strikes previously in this series.
@WilesPalladino Thank you ,yes I seen the 84cc canceled die video and actually acquired 84cc token die pair #37 O/S ON Morgan was quiet happy when it came into my lcs Thanks for bringing his work to attention. Looking forward to the next one.
@@constitutionaljb1751 - Sweet! One of my favorite pieces…because of the history behind how they came to be, and direct connection with the CC Mint.
Another excellent seminar of history Professor Palladino. It was a pleasure to visit a boutique mint museum. Thank goodness Frederick Monteagle recognized Coin Press #1 and the fact that artifacts from even a minor mint has significant historical importance. If the CC mint hadn’t misused the press necessitating its repair the numismatic world may not have a reason to visit a defunct mint museum. 😂
funny. very funny.
Fantastic journey about an iconic coin press. Thanks for your hard work.
Thank you, Yotefan! Imagine...cgriller stacker's beloved SF Mint nearly scrapped a national treasure! lol They were jealous of the CC Mint from the get go. lol
@@CoinStuffILike they were probably related to Cgriller.
Gentlemen your jealousy is most unbecoming. 😩
great information Steve thanks for bringing your knowledge to us CC enthusiasts. Always fascinated with the story to go along with my collection. Next time I'm in Nevada I will be visiting Carson City to see the mint.
Thank you! And, thank you for watching! Rusty Goe (author of a three volume book set on the CC Mint / Coins) wrote that the more that he researches about the CC Mint and it's coins, the more he realizes that there is so much to learn, or may never be known. He's correct.
Absolutely awesome. I have never heard of these . Thanks for sharing.
So-Called Dollars are a niche in the hobby. Beautiful designs. I'm happy to expand awareness of them. Thank you for watching, Yotefan!
Thank you so very much for all your hard work in researching your information about the Carson City so-called dollars etc. I learned a lot from you thank you again and I am enjoying your video!
Thank you! I love to turn my collecting into learning....thank you for joining me.
Beautiful pieces. 🤩
I agree - Dan Carr does beautiful work. Thank you for watching!
It sounds cool, but I wouldn’t want to wear it for fear of damage or loss. I bet a hat band made of them would be awesome
Brilliant! I might take some raw CC coin to the silver shop along with my hat, and have them make one. Will never have to worry about the wind blowing my hat off! A thief maybe, but not the wind. lol
Cool belt of CC coins.
I thought so. I have half a mind to drive to the shop to check it out in person.
OMG !!!! 😱. I love those. I’d take a ms69. lol
I'll be switching over to a Peace dollar series soon. I'll be covering 1917 - 1936, 1943, 1964, 1970 counting the MM pieces.
@@CoinStuffILike yes. Oh. The 1964 (mythical) peace dollar !!! That’s a dream coin for me !!! Out of all of them
That first 1929 S should be a 70 as well. The D coins should be 69. 😂
lol....I get it.... Thank you for watching, my friend!
More cool coins ,congratulations on completing the peace dollar dates.
Thankl you, and thanks for watching!
Very cool pieces. I have never seen one. Beautiful addition to your collection.
Thank you, Yotefan! I agree.
Always informative detailed and interesting cool stuff thanks for bringing something I never seen.
Thank you for watching!
VERY nice bro !!!! I WANT ONE !!! lol
I'll consider releasing one!
I like 327. lol
Very cool rounds. Love the sourcing of the silver used and of course the history it commemorates. The more I watch your videos the more I’m convinced you need to change the name of your channel to Coin Stuff Cgrillerstacker and I Like.👍
...but...but how could it be??...I have no S mint coins....too much corruption and inferior product from that one. LOL
@@CoinStuffILike Easy. I suggested Coins Stuff Cgrillerstacker and I Like not Coins Stuff Cgrillerstacker and I like Most. I can slum it with CC mint coins too.
lol !!!
Bro. GRILLA ?? Did you just say slum and CC in the same sentence??? WOW !!! 😮
Amazing collection
Thank you! And thank you for watching.
So jealous. Thanks for sharing pieces I have never seen.
Thank you for watching, Yotefan! Just about finished with the CC series, then will move onto the Peace Dollar series. I may have a few low mintage items in that series as well.
WOW bro. This is getting ridiculous lol. Nobody needs that many CC coins. Send some to me hahaha. AWESOME COINS BROTHER !!!!!
lol, COMPTON !!!!! I direct you to Carson City Stuff I Like - Part14. ;-)
Sesquicentennial 🤔 I can’t even say that once let alone five times real fast. 😂 Wiles you self slabber you. 🤣 Beautiful coins. Awesome History. Well done my friend. 🇺🇸
I'm an admitted self slabber. That said, I recommend others to self slab in the privacy of their homes - public self slabbing is frowned upon. lol Thank you for watching!
