    I just found your channel and so subscribed I am an old kiwi living in the US and have been subscribed to a couple who are off grid in Canada They do deer pigs and butcher chickens plus sell the eggs Maybe chickens might be a thought to add to the grid you have Did you have to buy the land you are on Would be interesting to know I miss the bush life but that was more a holiday and about 40 years ago lol Too old for that life now but will check out all your videos Keep up the great work and hope it works well for you

    I have a bach that has had vermin inside. I believe that you should Tek screw each corrogation of the iron at the guttering edge (bottom purlin), to prevent this. Otherwise there is a newish product on Trade Me that is nailed outside each corrogation, it is a small angled flashing. Fiddly yes, time consuming yes, but way cheaper than replacing all bedding that is soiled by the critters. Regards Lindsay Eltham NZ

    Your an inspiration mate. I found your episodes while researching for my own pole shed which I have just received council consent for. My one will be a Harrier shed from a manufacturer in Christchurch and is 9m x 6m (56 Sqm) to be a 2 bay workshop and 1 bay art studio. I found your explanations great and finally understand how a 'girt' should be positioned to take out the decreasing angle of the poles and ensure a 90 degree flat surface for the cladding!! I'm sure I would have buggered that up if I hadn't seen your episodes and could potentially end up looking like a more like a bloody pyramid! Anyway great stuff mate. Enjoyed the tranquil scenes, the Cicada's and the bird life. You've built a fantastic shed that you can rightly be very proud of. You're a true 'sheddy' (and a left handed one now too!). Cheers Terry

    Hubby built a compost toilet with basin etc last summer, which went down well with the younger family members who camped in our orchard. We promised them a shower this summer. So thank you so much for this video. We don’t have power in the orchard yet so we will be using a camping gas califont and small water tank. We really want a spa, some days it would be a luxury to soak the aches away. We have been 31/2 years in, off grid living and we wouldn’t have it any other way. We only have native bush on our small block here in the Hokianga, but it is surprising how much firewood l get out just by doing tree management. Last year after Cyclone Gabriel we scored some black wattle from the neighbours. I chopped as much as l could, however a good amount was very knotty. Hubby finally got to it last month. Three chainsaw blades later. I stacked it all in the wood shed and it felt like l was staking concrete. Hubby built our wood shed. Over engineered, over time and over priced. We joke it’s cyclone, earthquake, and nuclear bombproof 🤣🤣🤣🤣 The neighbours tell us they are coming to our place next time there is a natural disaster. Keep up the good work, it’s great to see Kiwi content.

    Hi, been following for a while. Im curious, your pole shed isnt consented, and now youve build these other 2 cabins. As far as i can tell you're supposed to have a consented main dwelling before you can build minor dwellings. I totally understand your longer term plan to build your own cabin, then do that legally, but how are you planning to deal with the council when they come to do the first inspection and you've got all these other minor dwellings about? Will you just call them sheds or something? The whole thing makes me irate, if you have a primary dwelling then you're free to build an unconsented minor with no toilet, water etc. But if you dont have a primary dwelling you cant build an unconsented under 30sqm + seperate composting toilet (which doesnt need consent anyway). It seems like then council have to clip the consent ticket once on each parcel of land, even if the buildings / systems wouldnt require consent otherwise.

    • @LivinglandNZ
      @LivinglandNZ 2 месяца назад

      You dont need consent for a rural farm shed up to 110sqm if it's pre-permitted which mine is. The cabins do no have power or water connected and are not being lived in. Might still be a grey area but Im not really bothered.
