Today we are testing some vinyl samples that GreatCarve sent to me. This is a pretty good product. I'm not really happy with them as far as what was promised and what I received (there were some shady interactions), but the items I tested were pretty good quality.

I didn't know this video would contain Lib Tears. Extra points! Great video
I had to delete some of the comments, but some of the meltdowns were hilarious!
Nearly 3 three years ago, but your assistance is timeless! THANK YOU!
Thank you very much for this lesson. It helped me a lot.
One of the best use cases for laser engravers.
Nice I need to try this thanks
You should seal with clear varnish before using resin.
In Australia I used rust-oleum custom white found in auto stores has high titanium and lays down smooth
You're awesome, your videos are great! :) The question I want to ask is, what parameters would you recommend for a 20 Watt laser machine? Thanks in advance. By the way, I joined Discord. Should I have asked there instead?
There is no need to ask before joining discord, welcome to the channel! As far as 20w settings go, there is no good answer. The best way to dial in your machine is to run a speed/power test.
@@LaserNoob I previously used a 3 Watt machine. I'm new to working with a 20 Watt one, and it feels incredibly powerful compared to the 3 Watt. I'm really obsessed with engraving on ceramics and glass. After using the 3 Watt, I keep breaking things with the 20 Watt! I'm used to working with low power settings on the 3 Watt, but this machine is a beast, and it'll take a lot of effort to get used to. The parameters I was familiar with are completely thrown off now...
@magnogkilla I certainly understand that. I started with a 5w. Now I have a 36w, 30w, 2 10w and an extra 5w. The only one I don't have is a 20. With the more powerful lasers, start off by reducing power and upping the speed. You'll blow through a lot of test material. But once you have it dialed in, your money! 💰 💰 💰
Thanks for this. Day two of K1C printer and this happened to me. This video was a life saver. I thought it was totally broken. I used a flat bladed micro screwdriver to gently pry the lid and body of the extruder apart once the crews were out.
exactly the same
Thanks! It wasn't as hard as it seemed actually, after seeing you disassemble everything I thought it would be really hard connecting all together later but it was actually easy ;)
Working around the camera made it seem more difficult than it actually is. Glad the video helped you out!
What was your power and speed settings
That shirt made me change the channel and block you.
Thank you! ❤️
Thanks for video, made few tests myself and if still someone interested, it works good with cheap mix of titanium dioxide and alcohol. Tested on Ortur LM3 20W. 50mm/min 80% power.
cool
I'm testing on plexiglass cause I have some laying around. I got a longer ray 5 10w. How do I make it so it don't crack the plexiglass? Is my power to high? Please help
Hi u add 150 ml tempra paint and 50 ml water?
Any 3:1 tempera to water ratio works well.
@@LaserNoob tnks man
I have an Atomstack P7 M40 diode laser. What is the best setting for engraving on glass? Is 500 mm/s speed and 90% power correct?
Gracias
Love the t-shirt 👍
But why does this happen on the K1’s? I’d want to know before I put it all back together. Heat creep?
Here is my experience with this issue: It has happened to me 2 times. Both were with PLA filament. Both times it happened, was when my shop was abnormally warm and I had the lid on and door closed. Under the same temperature conditions, with the lid off and door closed, I have had no issues. That is with 50 days and 2 hours of total print time. So, I'm chalking it up to excessive temperature in the print chamber.
Nice skulls, I'll be doing some for the granddaughters. Did you work out how many you could get from one roll of filament?
I got 7 out of each roll. I sell them for $15. So it's a really good profit margin!
Nice 🙂@@LaserNoob
Nice work. What kind of wood did you use?
Booba !!!😅😅😅
Excellent work man and thanks for the detailed installation 🎉
what about the 40w verison? Do you use O rings?
Hello, where can I find this type of Powder Coating on Aliexpress? Thanks for the video.
what mm basswood are you using??
Those are 3mm sheets.
I have a specific drawing that I would like to do a little better. How do I do a specific part of a project IE: when I write the word FAMILY. my L is not as dark as the rest. How can I engrave just the L and not the rest
Have you tried making the L it's own layer?
awesome tutorial respect from INDIA
Thank you!
Love the shirt
How do you deal with the smell when you were engraving slate?
My shop is in a shipping container. At the time of this video, I had to keep the doors open and run fans to circulate the air. Now It's enclosed with a/c but I installed a 400 cfm exhaust system that is ducted right over my work bench.
@@LaserNoob oh ok that’s cool Yeah, I ordered enclosed today for mine so it’ll be here tomorrow. I’m just gonna run the hose out my window cause I do mine in my one of my bedrooms. I got two craft room so it’s in the main one, but I need to know how to do the acrylic , I got the neon light that I seen last night with her. It goes in it like a little nightlight so I gotta figure out how to do that without messing it up.
@BrendaDavis-1963 be careful. They scratch easily. But you probably know that by now.
@@LaserNoob yes I do but I’ve only done one lol I ordered an enclosure for my laser
What settings did you use in imagr?
I purposely did not put my imagr settings in because there are a lot of variables. Size and quality of photo are the big ones. My settings are different on every photo I try to engrave.
Is this with homing switches
Should work either way. The Laser I used was the D1 10W, non-pro. It does not have limit switches.
Let's go Brandon 👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
you're using a red laser pointer as a reference. Does this mean you're using a laser offset? If so, I was wondering if you tried the center finder tool in lightburn. It seems that it's not working properly when the laser offset is enabled. There was a thread on this in lightburn support but not solution were brought and it's been more than a year. The laser offset is also not taken into consideration when framing, which is counter-intuitive to say the least.
This is using the crosshairs on the x-tool, before there was a center finder in lightburn. You should be able to turn the offset to zero and fire the laser to find your starting point.
I've learned a great deal from this video in my quest to etch acrylic mirror tiles. New things about lightburn I didn't know about in a whole year of using it (renewed subscription 2 weeks ago). Appreciate the vid.👍
Whatever I do it engraves at laser Tree 10W recommend 6000 speed and 40% in the acrylic lights acrylic but not enough to show up when the light is turned on, Does the thing only work it total darkness?, the acrylic is a very tight fit into the black box so not sure it goes all the way in. using poster paint black on the top surface placed on a metal grid. any suggestion welcomed
The acrylic should be snug. But it will really only be best in total darkness. I don't use a laser tree so I can't help with the settings. I also run everything in MM/SEC so speeds settings are very different.
left rear
If you move it manually, whatever position you then start it in, is going to be zero. If you relocate the laser from home, using the move buttons, it will properly track the true location.
@@LaserNoob Thanks for your follow up. I found out what I am doing wrong and have since corrected my error.
@ronaldderi7471 Sorry I was late. I was kind of buried with work and projects.
What about the brass curling?
There was no curling with any of the methods I used in this video. Hope that helps.
I know that this is an old video but perhaps you could answer a question. I follow your instructions in the video but my x position is at zero when the laser is in the right front corner but my position is (-421) minus 421. What am I doing wrong?
Is that where your laser homes to, right front?
wont the laqure thinner peel up the paint though?
The etched part is permanent. It will not come off during the cleaning process,
I'm curious why you don't use boxes for you speed/power tests. That would get you a more image based test result instead of just text.
Thanks for your input.
Thank for so much, this fixed it. Great work.
How long did you let the paint on the tile dry before lasering it?
I live in Florida, so I let it dry for 24 hours due to the humidity here. A dryer climate usually takes 3-4 hours to be safe.
The cut at 8:05, how did you get the cover off? Another video on the same topic also cut and I can't get the top off! Edit: ah the stuck filament sort of blocks the removal of the cover, so it can be a bit difficult. I used a large flathead to pry it open.
Have it in the locked position and it should come off without too much difficulty. If needed, take a small electronics flat head screwdriver and gently twist around the seam to work it loose.
Nice video. Good job on the Xtool legs. I need to make a set of those. Unfortunately, the amazon link does not work.
Thanks. Also thanks for letting me know about the broken link!
awesome shirt
I wonder if this would work with aluminum.
Sorry, I just saw this for some weird reason. It says it is metal marking spray. The description states for "aluminum, stainless steel, brass and more".
With the purple and that nice beard, I'm getting a strong Brolin/Thanos vibe..... ;-D (@ 08:52)
Thanks for experimenting and sharing. Very helpful.
Do you put the Paint on the Top or Bottom?
I put it paint side down. I prefer it that way so the tempera doesn't flake off.
@@LaserNoob Got it. Thanks!
