I diisagree with the downsizing because unless you have a lot of equity, the cost of the condo fees which keep going up or sometimes actually more than what a mortgage payment is are not what retirement people want to have to pay, especially in these times. They want to have as much equity as they can for their retirement.

Okay, suppose Canadian construction supply chains can't sell to America. In that case, they will end up with an oversupply, which should bring prices down in an environment where housing is in desperate need. Also, the houses are not selling because they are priced well outside consumers' ability to pay for them, and calling this "low demand" is misleading.

If Trump puts 25% tariffs in Canadian products, the Canadian government needs to replace the red leaf in our flag with a red hammer and a sickle, adopt communism, nationalize all houses, business and private property, and start enriching uranium to turn Canada into the North Korea of the Americas. Canada needs to be a nuclear superpower to get the respect of Trump, the army dodger that fears Russia, China and North Korea. I live with my parent at 30 with 100g in the bank and can’t get approved for a house even though I already had one at 26 and the houses are 2 times what mine was 4 years ago

fr all these people complaining, “build more homes” don’t understand all the issues at play. for example, all condos require 2 separate ground level stairways for fire safety. also, to be considered a rentable unit, rooms need to be outward facing with large glass panels. that only leaves a handful of potential design choices, and then people complain that all condos in toronto look the same. something like 40% of the cost of building new units is associated with project management, lobbying, and code adherence. not to mention skilled labour shortage, and immigration boom, it’s not just developers being greedy.

Carpenter and builder by trade and qualifications. This is definitely by design, and if you want to make it unaffordable, you rich can build your own homes. We can have nothing while not working, so why work? Food? Goods? Rather not contributing, and you will see this growing. If you can't afford dont contribute simple. Let the rich serve themselves.

Good. Landlords are often just people with wealth taking advantage of people. They have the capital to buy up any property that’s even slightly desirable and end up driving up housing costs. Most cities are way too landlord friendly.
