I don't eat bacon

Canned and packaged food is usually stamped with a "best before" date which is highly subjective. It will not turn to poison after that date and is still safe to eat. Dented cans are fine to use but bulging cans are not. Candy will keep for a long time because of all the sugar in it. Sell by dates mean absolutely nothing. That food is still good to eat.
