Headcutting Induced Creek Incision & Dehydration Of Floodplain
Video of a large headcut migrating up-watershed following an existing creek line. The headcut has led to a 3-4' drop in water levels within the creek line, accelerating dehydration of the banks (former floodplain) and is stimulating type conversion of the former riparian edge vegetation into more brambles.
This will need to be fixed with a zuni bowl or some sort of rock rundown built into/around the tree roots in order to prevent further migration of the headcut up the watershed and the soil erosion, incision and dehydration of the broader landscape that will accompany it.

Pallet-Framed Slip Straw Bath House Build
Просмотров 114Год назад
And old video (shot in 2017) of our old pallet-framed slip straw bathhouse while it was still under construction. Ultimately, the bathhouse would have a sink that drained to a series of small greywater ponds in front of the structure, and the shower cell drained to a separate greywater basin through a biological gravel drain in the floor. We never got to full finish the structure before we had ...

Double Stack TLUD Biochar Kiln For Homestead Charcoal Production
Просмотров 22 тыс.Год назад
Breakdown of a small double stack TLUD kiln for making charcoal at the homestead scale. The primary burn chamber is a 7.5 gallon steel drum. Holes are drilled in the bottom for primary air intake. This barrel is lit at the top, causing air to be drawn in the bottom and pulled up through the barrel (hence Top Lit Up Draft). Above the primary burn chamber sits a secondary retort, from which volat...

How To Create A Property Boundary KML/KMZ Using Google Maps
Excellent video, Lot to learn. You are second to none , is there any class for QGIS Keyline Silvopasture
Thanks, this is a really helpful video. I am enjoying learning QGIS but I am running into an issue that I am hope someone can help me with. For some reason I keep getting an unreasonable number of interpolated points. I followed these instructions and did a 20x20 grid planting on two acres which should come out to somewhere around 220 points but I am getting 375. I measured the distances using Cartesian measurement and it appears correct, using ellipsoidal they are significantly to short. However from what i can read Cartesian is the better measurement for short distances. Is there some setting or measurement that could be throwing me off? Thanks!
Any update on growth? Curious to see how tall these are a year later.
Pls, sir how can I grid survey plan here in Google earth, like 20, 20 intervals so that I will extract the spot heights. Pls help me with video that will guide me

Using Google Maps to view a ranch property for example in satellite mode may appear as the place is rather small compared to actually being there live in person as boots on the ground one will see the property is really more than ten times bigger than thought. Man, that is a lot of land. Computer screen just shows a little image only.

Minas Morgul wouldn't be ideal for biochar but it sure might be fun in the moment!

Well done and eloquent. Thanks
I have found the plugin QAD to be very helpful for offsetting lines. Can do them one at a time, and you just click the line you need to offset. Allows you to make micro adjustments as you go
Thank you for this recommendation - if its fewer steps than the workflow I've got in this video I'm all for it!
ty sir! did not get it how to create such a boundary without your help. Amazingly helpful video!
I'd love to see an example video from the field of how the electric fences are run for a set up like this. I want to do silvopasture with my sheep.
Hi Joel, You might check this video - ruclips.net/video/khO68lkYZXo/видео.html - they're running sheep in an established orchard, so its a decent approximation for running sheep amidst regularly spaced trees. I'd prefer to run them with a single hot wire vs. moving an electronet, especially if running more animals than pictured in the video. Greg Judy has a great video on his 1 wire sheep training process: ruclips.net/video/jFNJkeIDj84/видео.html
Hi! A very interesting video! I would like to know what tools appear in the toolbar, lower left, they seem interesting! Thank you
I think you are referring to my various nested layers - for example, Access (proposed) and Access (existing) are both filtered versions of a Access (master) layer - layers are distinguished based on the type of element - either polygon, point or line elements. These are all just part of the template I have developed over the years, not individual tools.
@@thesovereignhomestead Thanks! but I'm referring to the tools just below the snapping tool.
Put a thick layer of wood chips down and it will help maintain a consistent moisture in the soil. Plus it’ll feed the soil. They will grow that much faster.
Can Google give the actional miles.
Thank you
Nice job.🎉
your places is no more in the option bars
it is replace by the name of "saved" so you can click on saved option and can get this option
Hey great burn. I'm north of nashville and love everything charcoal, what part of the state are you?
where did you buy the cuttings from?
สวนที่บ้านผมก็ทำเหมือนกัน ต้นเงาะที่สวนมีกิ่งที่ตัดแต่งนำมาเผาได้จำนวนมากเลย
the smaller stuff is pyrolyzed quickly anyway... if you care about getting good, full pyrolization without much ash, in an open pit, the key is to have batched of mostly uniform diameter of the same kind of wood... obviously you will get inconsistent results if you add batched of mixed diameter and different woods, breaking up smaller branches, to lower the oxygen's area of attack for actually burning because we dont want it to burn.
all about input output percentage, at some point it's just not economic to chop everything it up to equal size, especially if you have abundance of wood. unburnt pieces can be put aside and burned another time.
@@randytschupp9937 yeah, without a woodchipper i would not bother
if you use such small diameter pieces in your later batches of wood, break them appart better so they cuddle closer and dont let oxygen penetrate as well, you got a very white pit at the end, much of that pinky diameter suff just turned into ash completely.
Would have like to see you driving and sifting it and the finished product , its size and how you charged it up.
How can I locate the exact points using coordinates?
You can drop coordinates into Google Maps and it will drop a pin in that exact spot. I haven't tried dropping in multiple pins as would be consistent with this video - I'd give Google Earth a try if you haven't yet, very easy to do there.
Taking advice from someone who doesn't know how to wear a cap is silly. Blocking your channel.. You look like a gang member.
I guess it depends on what you see. A lot of people might not see this as a problem, a new landowner might say, “Great, I’ve got a small creek on the property as well”, and not even consider it as an errosion issue, but possibly as a water source instead or as a potential future dam site, which probably wouldn’t be a bad idea either, you could bell out and dam a badly eroded area and use some of that material to help stabilise the spillway & eroded area beyond that, & use any tree’s or organic material that has to be removed for either making Biochar, or pushing into some of the eroded area downstream and filling over with top soils from the dam building process for planting suitable growth into and further stabilising. If I was preparing to buy (or owned) an unimproved property such as this without any other or little infrastructure on it, I would probably consider this idea as I believe water is always a number 1 necessity.
Looks like a good solution for larger properties who need to clear out bigger area’s & a quick way to amass a reasonable return of biochar. I have several large heaps of wattle I cleared last year with a backhoe on a 40 acre property, I imagine I could just let the heaps burn down to a point and quench the fires out prematurely with my 1000 ltr fire fighter to obtain a similar result and aquire a heap of biochar this way for garden & agricultural use, pick out any large pieces that didn’t burn enough and put them on the next heap for a re-burn, does that sound reasonable?
That would definitely work - look up top lit burn piles as a way to maximize your char retention. I've got a video detailing a small top-lit burn pile here: ruclips.net/video/tpxOf77Es0A/видео.html We've since evolved and now light the entire perimeter and top of the pile at the same time - turns the pile into an oven that just bakes everything in the middle, and the burn goes very quickly and evenly. Good luck with your forest clearing and char making!
@@thesovereignhomestead great & thanks for ur speedy reply & vid. Cheers
Just telling us what we can see.

definitely not the video i was looking for but still stole a few points from here 👍
Yeah man this video is amazing. Definitely doing this method. Thank you for posting 🙏🏾🤞🏾
You are waiting to long. Allowing loss of char by turning it into ashes.... Woodash is very usefull also but as far i've understood you it wasn't the goal to make big amounts of woodash !??
Is there a reason for NOT showing us the char directly in your contraption !?? Instead you skip your viewers directly to the already quenched and washed char...!? Could it be that there have been.... lets call it..... unwanted large amounts of ASH ??! What you are willing to show, but above all what you obviously haven't shown, arouses the worst suspicions in an average misanthrope like me!
Great video. FYI: "Your Places" is now called "Saved" but hey Mr. The Sovereign Homestead is EPIC!!!!!

Thank you.
Hi thanks for the content! Gladly appreciate it!!!! question about the nursery boxes where you are rooting, do they have a solid bottom or are air prune trays?
Air-prune style bottoms for good drainage - I used 70% shade cloth for the unit in this video and that worked great, never had any anaerobic incidents or pooling.
This was the video I've looking for. Thank you so much for explaining everything super clear and concise.
I'm making a brochure, with an inside map layout.

Great one. Any idea on how to show label on the boundary?
Did you have a design build video for this system and the info on the misters with antidrip?
Hi Matt, no design build video for this one unfortunately. I used to have a parts list for the whole thing but I cannot locate it at the moment. Here are the links real quick for the anti-drip mister setup. Tornado Misters: www.dripworks.com/tornado-mister-press-fit-5-pack MEAD Anti-Drip Device: www.dripworks.com/anti-drip-device Press-Fit Barb: www.dripworks.com/press-fit-barb (will fit 1/4" drip line) And optionally, if you want to control each mister head individually, you can either use a barbed valve as you punch into whatever main line you have ( www.dripworks.com/1-4-micro-flow-valve-barbed ) or you can use another press fit valve that integrates with the anti-drip set up ( www.dripworks.com/press-fit-shutoff-valve-5-pack) You might also need this couplerwith the press fit valve, I can't quite recall: www.dripworks.com/press-fit-coupler-10-pack
Great instruction. Subscribed.

Leave all of those leaves. Even add more between the rows. That space will be soggy next year. Perfect.
Absolutely brilliant
Those willows rooted you can’t kill them now. This is a forget about it come back in a year and they will be 10’ tall
Can we select more than 1 'property boundary' in the same time? The location of one and another is nearby.
@reeree346 that is a good question, I am unaware as I haven't tried. I'd imagine you'd follow the same steps and create another boundary and export that as its own KMZ file. Once you import them into Google Earth you can combine multiple polygons into the same KML file if that is your goal.
