Thank you. This fixed battle toads for me too. Same pin and all.
Awesome!!! Glad it helped you fix your battle toads!!! 🐺🐺🐺😁😁😁
Won’t the lights heat up and melt the plastic ?
I haven’t had this issue but I guess it could depending on how hot the LEDs get. Next time I have this console apart I will have to check to see how hot they get!! 🐺🐺😁😁
Bro I just had this issue where I was testing and I forgot the jumper pack. Reflow and hours later. "Shit I'm dumb!"
Bro It happens to the best of us!! I still can’t believe I did that!! 🐺🐺🐺😁😁😁
Always like seeing you work on the different consoles and other stuff thanks for all the content
Thank you for watching!! I try to put out a variety of things that I find interesting to work on. I figure these videos might help someone out in the future🐺🐺🐺🐺😁😁😁😁
A last attempt would have been to remove the rusty shield and solder the chip again.
I should have done that!! I will give it a try for sure!! 🐺🐺😁😁
For cartridges I use 1up cards they are great! And it will save you from using up all the q tips give them a try buddy!
Thanks!! I will have to pick up some!! 🐺🐺😁😁
A few mistakes here and then I will tell you how to fix Outlaw. 1) Do not turn then console on when the IPA is still wet. You didn't give it time to dry. 2) Do not use a paper towel to clean the contacts. You will scratch the contacts the same as when you use a dry paper towel to clean your glasses. Now, you just need to grab your soldering iron and remove the chip. I say remove because of how rusted the chip is. You need clean fresh solder to replace the chip.
Thank you!! I will have to give that a try. I didn’t think to remove the chip because it had continuity with the pins but it’s definitely worth a shot!! 🐺🐺😁😁
Well done brother.
Thank you!! 🐺🐺😁😁
In these cases would possibly adding more tin to the pins add better contact?
The contacts are fine. It's just filthy.
Ive done that before when pins are almost missing. I wouldn’t put too much solder on the pins just get them coated and the remove as much as possible with solder wick. If you have too much solder on the pins you can push the cartridge connector pins back on the console and mess up your console 🐺🐺😁😁
Instead of using brasso. Try this other stuff it's called bright boy and it doesn't leave any residue brasso does. Also make sure after you do that get rid of the brasso with alcohol
I second this! I got some bright boy and never looked back. It gets the job done and removes very little plating. I learned about Bright Boy from Roxolid Productions since he's a part of the RC community as well as video games.
I will have to pick some up!! The problem is I have so much Brasso left!! I will have to find another use for it!! 🐺🐺😁😁
Yeah I love bright boy. I got the idea from John Riggs he's also a RUclipsr. He fixes video games also. I highly recommend his channel.
@MarcusCroy Riggs got that bottle from my buddy Gary(Roxolid) he sent it to him.i saw that video it's what convinced me to get some. Gary uses it a lot to clean his RC motors. They weren't lying when they said not to sniff it lol. Knowing me it's the first thing I did lmao You could see wifi like how they say 🤣 it can definitely knock the wind out of you.
@@rubenmejia4881 that's strange I don't smell anything at all. Oh well LOL
Have you ever tried a low heat gun on those labels? I know that used to work when they were relatively new.
😅 brother are your knees ok?
This was the first time I took one of these apart. My wife’s hair dryer is my go to for labels!! 🐺🐺🐺🤣🤣😁😁
Thanks for another entertaining video
Glad you enjoyed it!! 🐺🐺😁😁
I wedge a flat head screw driver tip from my interchangeable screw driver set in my Atari games.
I will have to give that a try next time!! This was the first time I took one of these apart. 🐺🐺😁😁
Nice to see some car maintenance videos. You are a man of many talents ! Great job on the brakes.
Thank you!! I try and fix just about anything!! 🐺🐺😁😁
I'm amazed at your knowledge and ability to do this complex procedure. Nice job !
Thank you!! Thank you!! With great knowledge comes great responsibility!! 🐺🐺🐺😁😁😁
Not a single drop of spilled white vinegar on the blue mat. Love this stuff! 🤩
The blue mat was not harmed in the making of this video🤣🤣🤣🐺🐺🐺
Great video
Thank you!! 🐺🐺🐺😁😁😁
Fantastic job.. Love video & car repair videos.
Thank you!! I will have some more car repair stuff coming!! 🐺🐺😁😁
It's always wild to hear a chiptune I made come out of real hardware, nice work brining this one back to life!
Thank you!! Your music fits perfectly with all the other music that would have come out of these consoles back in the day!! Really some awesome stuff!! 🐺🐺🐺😁😁😁
Just discovered this channel, cool stuff all around with great tips and getting to see hardware internals! I'm honored to have some of my chiptunes as part of the experience, too!
Thank you so much for your awesome music!! It’s really some amazing stuff!! Your music fits perfectly with the videos I have been making!! I will be sending you an email soon!! 🐺🐺🐺🐺😁😁😁
Prolly didn't have to discharge since it leaked everywhere 😅
You’re probably right!! I didn’t want to chance it and get a shocking surprise!! 🤣🤣🤣🐺🐺🐺
The Genesis console was not a bad one I had the original first one. About $180 from Sears. But the Sega CD was the worst purchase I ever made 200.00 for a piece of crap add on.
That’s crazy!! The SEGA CD still commands a hefty price!! It’s about $100 broken on eBay and that’s for the model 2 SEGA CD!! I remember when I got the SEGA CD playing Sewer Shark and thinking what is this… 🐺🐺🐺😁😁😁
Those wires are a factory fix to a known issue
I wonder what revision they fixed the issue. If you look at a VA4 vs a VA1 they are so different!! 🐺🐺😁😁
I'm pretty sure the metal pieces are just additional RF shielding. I definitely know the random screw is for attaching a Mega/Sega CD's joining plate.
Yes that’s what it looks like to me too. I think it’s missing a that big piece that goes into the SEGA CD. 🐺🐺😁😁
Yaaaaay
It’s always nice to get one of these back up and running again!! 🐺🐺😁😁
The bodge wires 100% are from the factory, cheaper than redesigning the board when an issue was found. Might have had grounding problems where the power jack needed a better connection to the system's ground plane. A bodge wire could have been added to reinforce or reroute the ground.
Your probably right about the wires. It’s seems to be a SEGA thing!! I’ve seen a bunch of different variations of this and other bodge wires from SEGA!! Especially on the Genesis!! 🐺🐺😁😁
An easy fix for a change. Thanks for another entertaining video.
Thank you!! It’s nice to have easy ones every now and again!! 🐺🐺😁😁
Pretty sure those wires are factory. I've seen them in several model 2's myself, and they always look pretty much like yours did. I'm guessing that was Sega's quick and dirty "fix" when they started receiving reports of the power jacks coming loose. Nice fix as always.
Thank you!! You’re probably right about the wires. The thing that throws me off every time is that they are usually different gauge wires from one console to the next. Sometimes the are different colors and sometimes they are glued down. I even had a console where the wires were pinched in the shell. 🐺🐺🐺😁😁😁
@wolfmanrepairs sounds like a factory botch fix issue. "Boss we are out if wires" "Well use whatever man these aren't even part of the plan we are winging it for holiday season"
I wonder what the SEGA factory looked like. That must have been pretty cool to see back in the day. Holliday season 1992: People running around yelling just solder some wires in there it might fix it!! 🤣🤣🤣🤣🐺🐺🐺🐺
I have fixed a few of these model 2 systems and it is always the power port needing a reflow lol. Sometimes the occasional trace repair. You can pick these up for dirt cheap, too, when they are "broken". Glad it was an easy fix!
I would say I’ve seen this issue in about half of the “broken” consoles I’ve fixed. Its either the power port, the cartridge slot is just dirty, broken solder joints at the controller or it’s just totally doesn’t work no matter what you do it it 🤣🐺🐺🐺🐺🐺😁😁😁😁
Ahrite. Sweet!
Awesome!!! 🤣🤣🐺🐺🐺😁😁😁
Love an easy fix, great job!
Thank you!! That power port is always an issue on these!! 🐺🐺😁😁
I do like this kind of content as well. I bought a jack, stands, and tools from Harbor Freight last year and have been teaching myself with the help of the Internet; I commute a lot for work, so I've already "paid off" everything with the amount of money I've saved doing my own maintenance and repairs.
That’s awesome!!! It’s amazing how much money you can save doing this stuff on your own vs going to a dealership!! I’m glad to her you like this content as well!! I will definitely be posting some more automotive stuff. I have a ton of repairs I need to do on my pickup!! 🐺🐺🐺😁😁😁
This was good. I also fix electronics and cars, so right up my alley. BTW you missed a click there at the end I think haha ;)
That’s awesome!!! I’m glad theres more people out there who do the same thing I do!! I will definitely be sprinkling in more automotive content!! I think you’re right!! I did miss a click!! The old elbow torque wrench is getting a bit old!! 🐺🐺🐺🐺😁😁😁😁
Best beginning ever :)
Thank you!! 🐺🐺😁😁
Dad, Uncle Nick fixed the car again and i helped! ☺
🤣🤣 thank you for holding the flashlight and handing me the tools!! 🐺🐺🐺🤣🤣🤣
U got a shop? Arite sweet
Nah no shop just a garage or as I call it the Wolf Den!! 🐺🐺🐺🤣🤣🤣
@wolfmanrepairs been meaning to ask. Do you have a site where I can submit a request for a quote on repair? Got this N64 power supply i just almost fully tore apart but then thought "shit if this dude can fix anything". 😅
Yes I do have a site!! That would be awesome to take a look at!! RUclips is funny about putting links in comments so hopefully this works. The website is wolfmanrepairs dot com. Or you can email me wolmanrepairs at Gmail. 🐺🐺🐺🐺😁😁😁😁
Cool stuff.
Thank you!! 🐺🐺😁😁
Wow ! From video repair to brake replacement ! What could be next ? Thanks for another Fantastic video.
Thank you!! Glad you enjoyed it!! More stuff incoming!! 🐺🐺😁😁
Use flux with solder wick. Will make it so much easier.
Totally agree!! I Ive been dipping my solder wick in flux now!!
What product you used for cleaning
I used 99% Isopropyl Alcohol to clean the contacts
Had the exact same issues with the throttle and attempted to clean the carb and place it back on the engine. Went to start it and had the same exact symptoms. Needless to say, ordering a new carb pronto. It's such a simple carb so I'm not sure what's getting stuck in there. Thanks for the vid!
Yeah I dont know what happened. Im assuming its some corrosion in one of the fuel passages that we just cant clean out!!
@@wolfmanrepairs Yeah! Do you know where the idle adjustment screw is on these Chinese carbs?
The idle adjustment screw is towards the top of the carburetor. You should be able to see it if you’re looking at the machine from the back. It’s opposite of the throttle cable. The screw pushes on a black piece of plastic. Hope that helps!! 🐺🐺😁😁
Thanks for the update
Your welcome!! 🐺🐺😁😁
Thank you for taking my advice about calibration :) For me, the tester software works only on Chrome. I don't know why through.
Thank you for telling me about it!! I appreciate it!! I should try to contact the developer of the tester and tell them what I found!! 🐺🐺😁😁
@wolfmanrepairs I hope they answer you :)
Thanks for the update!!!Thats why i told you to test it with bluetooth.
Thank you!! I’m pretty surprised that the browser made a difference!! 🐺🐺😁😁
Before I start this video. I'm excited these are what I mod everyday 😂
End of the video. 😬
@@RetroRich91yeah this GBA is still kinda messed up!! 🐺🐺😁😁
Well it's probably safe to say that we ALL learned something new with this latest conundrum. Great detective work, Nick!
Thank you!! Yes definitely!! I still cant believe that it was just the web browser!!! 🐺🐺😁😁
Thanks for the update.
No problem!!! 🐺🐺😁😁
anybody know what overhead camera he uses? It's great
Believe it or not It’s a beat up Samsung S21!! The stand is a Viozon Tablet Phone Overhead Stand. 🐺🐺🐺😁😁😁
@@wolfmanrepairs Wow that's great. I think I have one with cracked screen laying around.
I see your wrists... I see why they call you "wolfman" 😅
You don’t know the half of it!! Copious hair everywhere except for my head!! 🤣🤣🤣🤣🐺🐺🐺🐺🐺🐺
Awesome job man. Just don't forget that some glues are extremely toxic!
Thank you!! I need to remember to use the fume extractor fan that I have. Even breathing in the flux is probably not good!! 🐺🐺🐺😁😁😁
