You need to buy a preamp like cloudlifter if you want the best sound quality for this mic…kinda lame

hey its not a hard secure case so there is possibility of the joysticks getting moved around a bit. you can get little locks for the joysticks tho when travelling to stop them from moving!

100% - thats why streamers have started using it too but it's overkill for streaming! Twitch's highest quality audio is the same as an mp3 so the fidelity is not needed for streaming when a 100$ mic will do the job just as well!

@@PunkRockVibes I mean its pretty out of the ordinary for the 7b to do that! only thing I can think of is if the source youre recording (voice, whatever) is too quiet and you have to gain it up so much to get the proper level. It is also a generally quiet mic so needs a good pre-amp or else you will be using a lot of gain!

100% 57/58s can sound great with proper use. and is def most popular for on stage - this is more focused around live streaming tho, which those mics can both sound good for too!

I absolutely know that! This video is geared towards streamers though, not music makers :) It's overpriced for streaming. Awesome mic for recording professional audio. Also technically MJ used an SM7 not a 7b lol

@ ahhhh my apologies. All the guitars in the back confused me. Sure it may be overrated for streamers, but in a lot of ways, when you click onto a podcast and see a good setup with SM’s I bet the watch retaining is higher.

do lots of stretching beforehand and warm up! soooo important. I've dealt with wrist injuries from playing and its no fun - hopefully you can get back to it!

not necessarily better. It picks up a lot of low frequencies so if you have a lower voice then it wont sound very neutral as it is picking up more of the frequencies that are already more present in your voice

Hey! Unfortunately you do have to use the app for it if you dont have another BEACN device like the Mix or Mix Create. The knob just does headphone control! Honestly I'd suggest looking into the Elgato stream deck + with the wave xlr attachment!

it depends on what you need! If you want the bigger thumbsticks and turbo I'd get this :)

yeah the dotted reference is using the switches on the mic to roll off the bass or add presence. I'm talking about the flat response! yes overall it's pretty flat, but the point of this is mostly just that people who are just streaming or playing games with friends dont need to spend 400+ dollars on this mic just because everyone else is!

Still an odd title though, people are going to see the $400-$500 price tag and come to that conclusion on their own; unless they've got some form of bandwagon hopping insecurity where they just have to have the best of the best which isn't really your problem and insults the intelligence of the masses by assuming that's what they're doing. Saying DO NOT BUY THE SHURE SM7B makes it sound like you're inferring that the microphone is bad and is overrated. It's not overrated, it's damn good and people buy it for a reason. Next time just be honest and say it's clickbait. Either that or you're just misinformed. If your video's point was to say this microphone might be overkill then it'd be formatted way differently. You also state that the SM7B has a little bit of a bump in the low frequency area when it's clearly below 0dB. Where is the boost? lol. Just to clarify, having the microphones frequency response close to a flat straight line at 0dB is exactly what you'd want from a microphone. If there were a boost in low frequencies then the dB reading on the graph would be HIGHER than 0dB. Having a microphone that is completely flat would mean that there is no changes to tone and would be universal for all voice type. THAT is the most ideal scenario, and the SM7B comes pretty darn close to flat - making each voice come through how you'd hear it in real life. The only way this point against tone would make sense is if the sm7b had some weird curve with peaks and valleys across the frequency response which WOULD indeed change the way your voice sounds and would be valid to say maybe it's not best for you, but that's not the case, the SM7B is pretty darn flat making it perfect for almost all vocal ranges and tones. The entire point of this video just doesn't make sense.

Just important to test it out before to know if it's what you need :) If you're in an untreated room it's an awesome mic, if youre looking for something with a lot of high fidelity and crisp-ness this might not be the one. Just try it out first if you can!

and thats what i'm trying to say here :) there are just as good mics for half the price or more of the sm7b! like the shure MV7 or even any of Fifine's dynamic mics!

Hey this is pretty outdated now and my board definitely has a DI on it now! I am also primarily using amp modelers now :)

I mean technically he used an SM7. Different from the SM7b!

@ I mean its the same mic only thing different is the 7b comes with a windscreen and they changed humbucking coil
