    Oï passionate artist, I think one of the things you do very well is to put form and content in dialogue in your videos. I'm not sure if that's the right word, but your videos seem to me to be very good vehicles for "dialogic" (and its inherent value). I took some notes while watching your video, I share it for the pleasure of communicating with you. Thank you for sharing your experiences like that. "See" you next week or soon enough :-) 17m15: the authenticity of it (smudging). Love it. 18m44: less close from the originals, but if your in person... 22m27, I think it could be more expensive: it is okay to sacrifice another purchase to buy yourself a piece of art that you like, a work that you loved. Of course, the shipping cost adds to everything, but that's my 2 cents. 25m30, quite inspiring. 35m56: beauty in the eye of beholder - you are right about that, and I would argue that art piece's value varies depending on the needs or preferences and the core moral and aesthetics values of the collector. 37m40: do not underestimate the value of transmitting “technè”, the art of doing something. this is an added value in your video. 40m40: quite intelligent, emotional and yet coherent talking points.

    Hey, I watched several of your videos and I do relate to your past experiences you talk about, but I still can't seem to grasp one thing. This is what's been bothering me for a long while and I would be grateful for advice or elaboration. How does one become oneself? How do you come to know yourself? I am struggling with it for so long that I'm not even sure I believe myself, I am in constant doubt and self-loathing and rational realization that it's doing me no good doesn't help at all. How does one discovers the true self? I tried going the route of doing what I love. I am an artist, it's my passion, but also, unfortunately, my job. I am stuck in my past and constantly worry about future. I can't seem to align myself with "here and now", no matter how much I think about it. I get a moment or two of clarity and true presence in the moment, but they are so rare I can't see the pattern behind their appearance. I love creating art, but it is tied to my struggles and identity too much. It's as if there's no person behind my artistic self. And my artistic self is miserable. I will continue doing art no matter what because it keeps me sane and calms my anxiety, but still the question remains: how does one set free from the boundaries of self-doubt and comparison? How does one discover oneself in it's purest form? Most importantly, however, how does one embraces it? It's easy to say "just believe in yourself", but what can you do if switching perspective in your mind doesn't work? If doing what you love doesn't work? Maybe I'm just doing something wrong. Anyway, appreciate sharing your thoughts, it's brave to speak your mind and I adore your confidence

      @@jenjencartridge Thanks a lot for the answer, eager to see the new video! I've come to think (but have to remind myself regularly) that discovering oneself is not an easy task, not a quick one and the process itself isn't always enjoyable, but it's always worth it. So I'll never give up trying, even if it means asking for help (which I struggled with my whole life up until recently). I also feel like people like you who share their wisdom are underappreciated for what they truly are - lighthouses and waypoints on the perilous road of life. Sometimes, when people don't understand your point they write a hateful or simply rude comment and spread negativity, while really all they need to do is ask. Communication is key to be better people and thus it is key to a better world. Thanks for making the world a better place <з

      you are right, knowing and being true to yourself takes a lot of courage and strength, which is what honoring the self is all about. it is of course always worth it, because the greatest investment is in yourself, always. i feel the same way of never giving up trying to get as close to myself as possible, through my own realizations and knowledge every moment. thank you for your sweetness, i needed to hear that and i will come back to this comment when i need encouragement to keep going, and to keep figuring out who i really am, too. you're making the world a better place yourself! :)

    I am positive that the government is not starting the fires. It is important to challenge negative thoughts. Also, try really hard to find non-biased news sources. Sadly, I think it is mathematically impossible to respond efficiently to disasters caused by this rate and speed of warming. It is way way worse than we know. I always felt like a alarmist when telling people about the climate situation around 2012. Now that everything is pretty much spot on as predicted by the "liberal", "woke" climate scientists, I think. Uh? Hell. I can't think. I am numb and really just waiting for things to get worse. I don't feel alarmist anymore ; I feel realist, sadly. There are no winners in this warming. Everyone is gonna be affected by it. Humans have never experienced this before. Sorry for the debbie downer comment. Helping people and animals/non- human mammals is the only thing that can help in these times. Maybe auction a painting off and donate to a relief effort? Try to stay safe. :)

      By no way a suggestion, just small talking: I think you'd be very good at communicating on a particular topic - say, we call those wild fires a form of trauma, by painting baby goats you forces yourself and, I'd say people who are in touch with your artistic reasoning to take a gentle look on ourselves whom had to live (in a way or another) with that trauma... or, as a matter of fact any trauma at all. By gently looking at ourselves, we start the healing process.

    • @jenjencartridge
      @jenjencartridge 4 дня назад

      gently looking at ourselves, and realizing all that we are, beyond words, thoughts, experiences, stories of the past, things that have happened to us, trauma we have experienced - we are beyond all of that. and this is how we are all the same, just like baby goats. pure, innocent, sweet. we all have this personality of the divine within us, never defined by anything in the temporary, anything you can count, rationalize, figure out. :) thank you for your sweetness in this comment, i appreciate you !!<3

    I really like your angle of attack on fears; do you remember some time ago you felt a bit cheated not to have been selected for an exhibition, and the curators told you "that they were using the rational (the angle) of "what am I going to wear today" (I'm obviously paraphrasing); I think that today, with this content, you allow us to reread this type of news: these curators, too, have fears, fears for example of disappointing other artists, fears of making mistakes, of questioning themselves. In short, I think that you are on a very promising path - and it is still ironic that you were able to approach this difficult subject in conjunction with the sweet painting of goats. Are they destined to be sacrificed? Mouhahahah (that's me trying to be funny). Thank you for your enriching content, the magnificent efforts you make to build a beautiful community around your RUclips channel and your always very generous answers. Best, D. 🙂

      thank you so much daniel for your thoughtful comment! 😊 i’m glad you enjoyed the discussion and caught the play of light and shadows. it does add drama, that's what i love about it. that angle is very somber, haha. and yes i can see the connection you made to the social media comment, that's awesome! making youtube videos has absolutely started to influence my art. the words i am speaking has helped it come into existence in everything around me, including my art. writing the concepts of my videos has made me realize that it is all up to me and i can do whatever i find interesting, rather than trying to gain the interest of others. it's freeing, for sure. i recommend it! :) it’s given me a new lens to explore storytelling and composition, blending visuals with dialogue in a way that’s unique to this medium. it’s a learning process, but one I’m really enjoying. thanks again for watching and engaging so deeply! i appreciate you very much.

      @@jenjencartridge Thank you for your generous response. Keep on building that community around your art and your RUclips. It is going to be quite nice, I'm sure of it. Have you thought of making some "shorts" with you B-Roll, what happened to that fly at the end of your video (did you eat it or release it outside :-P ) - and I think that is indeed a good idea to explore the best "artistic" ways on how your content creation process, your artistic reasoning kind of or need to get all intertwined at some point - or not, of course...

    Excellent vlog! I don’t necessarily rely on social media, but I love having amuse, and I also enjoy going to galleries. And I’m just in a town right now or we don’t have those things, well we do, but there’s only one of those things. 😂 I think what keeps me from creativity is my work. I am in a research environment, and not a creative environment. So when I start talking, I don’t sound like everybody else I’m talking about art, poetry, architecture, and everybody else is talking about their research. So when I finish with my doctorate, I’ve decided I’m not going into research. I’m going into filmmaking because I need my muse and I need my creativity! I would love to know the story behind the goats! They are bad ass! And I really appreciate your talks to us! Thank you and I hope you have a fantastic week! And last week I misspelled Wynwood! Check it out! It’s my old art community in Miami that has now turned into a tourist trap 😂

      thank you so much for your kind words😊. it sounds like you have such a rich and creative soul, even in a research-heavy environment. starting this channel has really helped me feel like i have an outlet to express myself creatively because i feel the same way about like no one really understanding what i'm saying, especially in a work environment. i recommend it in the meantime! that's amazing that you are thinking of going into filmmaking instead of research. most people stay on the path they've been on because they fear the "sunken cost" of changing their mind, so i admire your courage - and i'll definitely be on the look out for your projects if you ever make them public! i love the goats! thank you🥰 they have definitely been inspiring me lately, i'll make sure i talk about why in the next one. i love how connected you still feel to the art world, even from a town with fewer outlets for it. and wynwood! i didn't notice. i've never been to florida, but hopefully soon! i have some family out there i've been meaning to visit. wishing you a fantastic week as well, and I hope you keep embracing and nurturing your creativity. sending love

      @jenjencartridge Yes we know but to apply it's more harder always , expecially when one start to become old and live under certain circumstances. Anyway I could not deny that how says Aristotelian into his Protepticus, reading, listening or be interested in knowing something could work for our health even better than any relations, any social network or any kind of possible inner mediation, the key is slowing away even more our inner system to instant pleasures, like be here upon this social for hours, and just make ourselves more receptive to that joy that we've, when we were child's, that desire of wondering and dream, despite our be adult and completely into our reality how man's and woman's.

    • @jenjencartridge
      @jenjencartridge 22 дня назад

      Exactly, that is really it. The fact that you know that, is the application itself. You typing out that paragraph in this comment section, is you applying it. Not applying it is always harder. It’s just that we are getting something out of the suffering, getting something out of the games that we play. Recognition of this, letting go, and focusing on the ways that make us receptive to that joy you’re referring to, yes!

Also, in certain situations knowing too much about something makes you a target.

      i felt you! it led me to overuse psychedelics and get lost in other people's beliefs, cutting myself off from the world. being myself consistently felt so flimsy but ... fake it till you make it is really truly the way to go.

      yes! getting lost in other people's beliefs, and even our own, is what keeps us ignorant of ourselves. but we don't need to fake anything, we can just be, as we are now. there is nothing greater than our own beingness, divinity, and power that is beyond force - it's natural. reminding ourselves of this in any way we can is how we stay consistent, moment to moment

    Excellent advice! Just start. I was around when Wunwood in Miami first evolved. Back then, it was super easy to get into galleries and he didn’t have to worry about meeting rich people. It was just everybody would get together and there would be a pop-up and we had free art Fridays hiding art all over the place. Now, that place is a total tourist trap and it’s just bringing artists in from around the world to paint murals in a couple that are like locally blown up. However, the art scene now is shifting down towards the south of Miami. I’m no longer there, but I am trying to make my next move to where there are more independent galleries that are not owned by rich people, or even open up just a very small space myself. All I need is a bathroom. My last husband was rather wealthy and he didn’t get any of the art scene. I’m up here doing poetry readings, and he’s like OK. Let’s go. Like no mingling no nothing. He really destroyed a lot of my creativity. On the other hand, there’s been a lot of like wealthy people that have helped me but now, I’m going to do this myself. I hope you had a great holiday, and happy new year to you! ❤

      thank you for sharing your journey and experiences with wunwood and how the art scene has evolved. i love the idea of starting a small, independent gallery. those are always the best anyways. it sounds like a powerful way to create a space for genuine, community-driven art. that's beautiful also that you would be doing it for you, and building it yourself with your unique vision. it’s tough when the people around us don’t understand our creativity, but it’s amazing that you’re reclaiming your path and pushing forward on your own terms. i’m rooting for you and your next steps. you’re building something truly meaningful i can feel it! happy new year to you too! wishing you creativity, success, and joy in the year ahead. <3

    I really like it when you put objects behind you (and in your decor) to force the eyes to move (to scan the screen); I find that it allows you to "find" your concentration on the message you are saying. You have gone beyond political correctness several times during this video, and I believe that it is the role of the artist to be an "actor" of his time, not just a "witness" - even a witness to freedom of expression or intellectual freedom - it is good to be a witness, an artist must be an "actor" in these arenas of public debate. Regarding introspection to "recover" an individual material that would echo the universal, my sensitivity is very close to yours. The problem I am encountering (at present) is that of the "missing link" if you will allow me the expression: by wanting to be the closed vessel in which one works in a closed vessel, I have the impression that the encounter with the public disqualifies the said public from having been a "part" of the creation (an actor, sort to say) as if I had wanted to keep my ideas pure from distractions or others. To give you a concrete example, my "scene 4" seems flat to me, and it seems to me that I am blindly pursuing the interest of making it flat (even flatter, not to make a critical point) but to "drive this flatness into the reception of my work". Problems, "missing links" are part of life, part of the universal, but on this point, I'm really not sure that it's "my most beautiful side" that I'm highlighting... but isn't this side part of a "universe" too? Thank you for being interested in my opinion, best wishes to you. Happy New Year: best wishes, health, success and lots of great videos! :-), D.

      hi daniel, thank you so much for sharing your thoughts so thoughtfully!! i’m really glad you enjoy the details in my decor. it's exciting to hear how they help bring focus to my message. re your perspective on the artist's role as an "actor" in shaping the conversation: it’s inspiring to think of art as an active force in the public arena, rather than just an observation. i never thought about it like that. i also relate to what you said about isolation in the creative process. it’s challenging to find that balance between preserving personal vision and inviting the audience into the work. your example of "flatness" is intriguing, and it reminds me that even the elements we question in our work can contribute to a larger, universal narrative. thank you for your message. it gave me a lot of food for thought. thank you for your kind wishes. happy new year to you as well! i wish you health, success, and a lot of creative breakthroughs in the year ahead. thank you for being so thoughtful and engaged:)
