A real pity, but understandable. If they wanted the project files *before* the contract is signed, that would have made it far easy for Funbox Media to take your work and sideline you. If possible, I suggest using the current project code to create a (legally-distinct) spiritual sequel, and make them regret not having their IP attached to it.

What's crazy is that they believe they can make any money by force with a long dead license. Any other game company worth their dime would rather develop a new script and replicate the core mechanic than buy from them.

" Greedy publishers would rather die than get SOME money, but not ALL the money. F to them. TBH maybe you could apply what you've learned and make your own IP? I mean, while HW is awesome and world building is amazing, story sometimes refuse to elaborate and game play is sometimes lacking. There are also some aspects that could be changed or added, like naval combat (imagine if you could have battles with your AI boats on open sea? And have Anteus as actual unit that can scoot along the coast and maybe provide some fire on beachead, and safely launch ground units?)

This is a huge job and I'm really looking forward to the remake of my favorite childhood game! Thanks for your hard work!

man seriously i wanted to play this game with modern graphics, modern mechanics... cant you iuse their idea and create a similar game instead and add other things to it.. they dont deserve to hold onto this games IP,they had beautiful idea but they didnt do anything to build their IP over the last 20 years plus.

Come on, be more creative. What is country of "you" and "them" ? If country is both in EU (e.q.) then there is no problem. Let them sign an NDA first and then give them the source. And then there is the possibility that there is a lawyer here (or Discord) which is also likes hostile waters which you can ask.

cleanroom sourceport that needs a copy of the original for the artworks isnt an option? Really a shame and sucks that it gets stuck like this. Was really looking forward to play this high fidelity.. without emulation/compatibility-layer AND multiplayer!

We're not going to dignify this with a response, but all we will say is, there are always 2 sides to every story. We would not be so unprofessional or disrespectful to 1. Air our dirty laundry in public or 2. Leak confidential contractual discussions.

You'd really want to believe that the whole "big greedy corporations" cliché isn't reality, but it sadly is for almost all companies. also, thanks a lot for warning us about about the potential leak. Will save the text, to make sure I can avoid it if I ever would happen to stumble upon it! So nice of you to keep us safe, out here on the interwebs.

I'm really sad that this happened, I was hoping to play this remake someday. Nevertheless, I really appreciate the hard work behind it. It was made with love, and I admire the entire team for doing it.

What a shame, would love to have seen this remake come to fruition! The OG Hostile waters was and is one of my all time favorite games.

Unbelievable how greedy and idiotic these companies are. Instead of breathing some life into a classic game they'd rather hope to work the modders to the bone and take all the glory for themselves. Even though they probably got the Hostile Waters IP for pennies since Rage went bankrupt a long time ago ... Good luck on any future project!

I will say, the vehicles in question are very cool looking no matter how much you look at them, plus the story to my knowledge is very unique. Though explaining this game in a nut shell is hilarious because it never not always confuses people.

That's a good technique to beat it, i hide behind a pillar when it shoots.

Before release can U make only 1 minimap active? 3d or 3d? Cause to minimaps - to much. And would there be an abbility to turn of the interface for making nice screenshots?
