Almost a year and a half in mechanical. Looking for deferent job. Too much work not enough pay. Pretty much making up for for lack of staff.
ABP, I take it if I wanna be a diesel engine mechanic, I will be send to a different training school, or this training facility is for any level?
How many tests are there? I’m talking about written test. Also, can you do a video of the Conductor general knowledge test for me, please?😊
How many questions are on the signals?
Is there any place on the web where I can find a nice hi-res image of this particular aspect sheet? It is by far the newest I have seen. I have been researching "Conrail" signals for several months.
I still don't understand why each rail has different signals. Why not all the same.
How often do the furlough happen?
Easy as a day at the park. So was Conrail and Amtrak Locomotive Engineer training.
If CPKC pays Conductors 38-46 an hour , how much does Union Pacific pay Conductors
I just had a job interview with Norfolk Southern for a conductor position yesterday afternoon I feel I did a good job for the interview part the interviewer was nice and personable
Hey, WHEELING & LAKE ERIE RAIL ROAD HIRES & R.J. CORBIN ASWELL BRO
can you bring a pet to the hotel in conductor training ?
Fingers crossed that I get this job
How many questions are on the signals test?
I'm just wondering what the written test is like
What is the issue with drinking? Obviously you need to be sober on the job, but a beer over dinner? Can‘t see what‘s wrong with this (or „super responsible“ about not getting drunk). So it‘s just a normal day then I would say.
10 feet… I‘d have to keep converting this all the time to imagine what this looks like! 10-12hr days however would be no problem for me.
So I have a interview Friday is their any tips you cane give me
Can
Going through training now. End of week 1. It’s not as hard as most people think. Don’t overthink things and study. As long as you are doing your e-learning and topic reviews, you will be fine. Hang test is not all that difficult and I am a skinny guy. Don’t overthink it. They will talk to you while you do it to distract you from overthinking. Signals can be tough, but I have NW, so it’s not too bad. Everyone is here to help you succeed. Also, as of right now all 3 weeks are day shift, but that will probably change again.
Brooo my app got accepted and it wasn’t any interview slot available I’m so hurt idk what to do I was banking and so eager bout it now my momentum gone
Just hang in there. They are sending classes through pretty much nonstop. Just make sure you sign up for a slot right when you get that email.
I head down on the 29th for my training, excited to get started. That’s cool to hear about the day shift, won’t hold them to it but would definitely be nice for my class too!
i'm not sure if they are bringing back nights. Good luck and study a lot. youll make it through
How long did it take to get a response from nfs after the physical exam?
Really appreciate this video and the insight you provided. Im considering applying for a job with BNSF or UP. Its something ive considered for a while but just haven’t taken the necessary steps but im finally at that point in my life where i need to step it up. Hope youre still doing well at the yard!
Thanks so much for the tips! It has been a big change for me (even though ive been on the road for mining/oilfield). It is going along fine so far
I hear some bitterness in your commentary and I am sorry for what you experienced. I think you are exactly the sort of person that the railroad needs in their workforce with your diligence and focus. Not many of your age can do this job since there is a lack of discipline and maturity in their mindset. I hope you decide to try again and build enough seniority so that you can hold a regular position.
LOL working for BNSF for the last 3 months on maintenance and haven’t worked in 3 weeks
How many ? Is on the signal test
Is the test hard to take ?
What do you like to get from Arby's?
Any updates on how long NS takes to let someone know if they hired or not after medical records review?
Just curious I’m 5”4 103 pounds do you think training will be a problem?
How many layoffs?
Did you ever go back?
A lot of information
Are you at N. S. Today ? May 4 th 2023.
I was thinking of applying for this job, but people keep saying why apply for a job that you know is going to lay you off occasionally.
How hard is it without any prior experience?
Put on your seat belt 🙄
I did my video interview with csx a week ago. How long does it usually take to get a job offer if they want to hire you?
Is CSX like this?
Are you still a current employee of Norfolk southern? Going to the training center in 2 weeks
I was thinking of leaving the trucking industry for railroad conductor. My concern is the pace. Is the pace of the work so fast that safety takes a back seat? I am sure by now you heard of the train derailment in East Palestine OH. Here is my opinion: The rail car needed to be at the customer, that dispatch pushed the train past safety. Please let me know what you think of the pace of the work?
So straight out of training how much work can you expect?
I appreciate your videos. I'm supposed to start training this month for Allentown. The uncertainty is a hard pass for me.
Did u ever start in allentown?
Things have changed dramatically from what your saying in this video now. I'm currently going on week 3.
What's it like? How's the pay?? You're the most recent comment and I'm considering doing this. Barely getting an interview next week and I'm excited for it but need more info to know what I'm getting into!
@@joelr.garcia377 I started my conductors class at Union Pacific I made 3600 bj weekly
