Foundry furnace ignition
After many years of working, re-working, and life, I was able to take the next step in my [David Gingery](en.wikipedia.org/wiki/David_J._Gingery) inspired foundry furnace: Lighting it!
The furnace opens/closes about 18-inches to accommodate side-access to the crucible for safety and convenience. This time I was running with a restriction-plate installed to dampen the air-flow. Based on my experience so far, I think it's unnecessary. In fact it seems like the furnace is hungry for MORE airflow :D

Taped a cheap $20 endoscope/inspection camera on the end of a 20' painting-pole. Out the 2nd floor window it went, and into our bat-house. Thought they look really big, the camera is only the size of a small pencil. So they're only about the size of a large mouse. An online bat conservation group identified them as Mexican free-tail bats. They're not endangered but are facing loss-of habitat pr...

Hey! Doin' okay, my shop is still a disaster after moving a few years ago 😕. I did _just_ unpack my old siphon burner, so I could work on fixing the blower motor. So that's some progress 🤓 Dug out Gingery's book, and will follow closer to his design.

@@r4z0r7o3 sounds good. Alloyavenue is toast. Well it's still there but nobody can read or post anything easily, and Lio (only one with permissions to fix) is AWOL for several years. But thehomefoundry.org is still an option. Moat of the old gang posts there these days. I remember your furnace build thread.... Epic stuff!
