Nissan Leaf (2015) Touchscreen repair
Просмотров 8 тыс.Год назад
In this video I show how I attempt to repair the touchscreen of my 2015 Nissan Leaf by replacing the "touch digitiser panel" for an aftermarket one. So far the car has done 100.000 problem-free kilometers. Only thing that was starting to annoy me is the touchscreen. The right-hand side was getting less responsive over time. On the Speakev.com forum I found an interesting thread discussing this ...
Making a lego table with Ikea parts. A simple and straightforward weekend project.
Просмотров 391Год назад
With lego everywhere in the house, often losing small parts, I needed a place where the boys could play ánd store their lego. We had these Ikea Moppe drawers units to store and sort the small lego part into. But that was just not enough. So I thought about building a lego table and integrating these drawer units and add some more storage space. The project was on a budget so I looked for a nice...

In this video I show how I make a diy lego sorter from cheap plywood. With the lego sifter you can sort and organise your lego by size, making it easier to find the parts that you are looking for. It is especially useful to find the smallest parts that otherwise end up under in your lego storage crates. No fancy woodworking or joinery, just a simple and straightforward project. I recently picked up a near excellent one with only a few minor issues: Spur on the tote broken off & inexpertly glued back. Chip out of cap iron from using it to loosen the chipbreaker screw. Badly 'sharpened' standard Stanley iron/blade. Good news is the body was all within 0.002" of square & flat. I broke the glue line on the tote repair & realigned. Replaced the cap iron with an 'as new' one. Opened up the throat with some careful filing & replaced the Stanley 0.085" iron with an after-market 0.120" iron, sharpened to my own satisfaction Total cost; less than €120 & 2 hours of my time for a plane which outperforms my ability. This will be used when needed, just like my 4½, 5½ & 6 Stanley's (the #6 was a bare casting & I used donor parts to make it whole again. #4½ was my late father's, bought by him in 1945 to celebrate the end of WW2).
Very nice. I love the number 7. Use it quite a bit. Perfect for exercising your upper body too :)
make sure you try the free diagnostic calibration process, before needing to replace the digitizer doing all of this. search 'nissan leaf touch screen calibration'
Lovely work! What diamond stone are those ( what’s the brand and the grid of them!? ) Thank you 🤝🤝🤝
Thanks! They are DMT Dia-Sharp stones. Coarse, fine and extra fine. I think they are about 300, 600 and 1200 grit but you can check that on their website.
Thanks it helped a lot ! 2 years wondering how to fix this annoying problem and finally 20min to fix it !
this is a very clear video... my problem is that one of the two initial screw heads has no 'tread' so i cant get any purchase with the screwdriver... am not confident to drill the screw out myself.
Very helpful I found out the hard way to definitely discontent the battery after you have opened the screen. Othwise you disconnect the ribbon and after a few minutes it closes itself, leaving the open button not working! I found a fix though. Grab hold of the big plastic trim around the screen, vents, heater controls etc. A slight pull frees it. Then lift it upwards to pull it away. Disconnect heater vents connector wire and pull away. Now you can get gold of the screen. Gently pull it open. No clicking or snapping. It just manually turns the motor. However, best to just disconnect the battery!!
Thanks for the video, Nissan Portugal gave me a quote of 3000 Euros for repairs. With 20 Euros and 1 hours of work I did the repair.
Brilliant took me about an hour I found the screws on the casing were a nightmare all back together and the missus is happy😊
thank you for sharing the plans
You're welcome!
I tarted up one of these and was originally intending to sell it. I'm not a collector. I just bought a No.7 because it was cheap. I'd never seen one before and I felt like doing something different. Then I had cause to use it to fix a door that was sticking. Bloody hell! The step had a bow in it and was made out of 60 year-old red gum - one of the hardest and densest timbers around - and it went through it like a hot knife through butter. So I'm keeping it. I flattened mine on a piece of glass, rather than a bench and it's dead true. I used linseed oil on the totes and I probably wouldn't use varnish. Oiled wood just feels better. I didn't bother with repainting it. I just disassembled it and soaked everything in cleaning vinegar for 24 hours and all the rust just fell off it. Electrolysis - the way you did it - is better. Mine is from the 1940s, I think and was made in England.
Whooooah, success it works and many thanks for such a clear video. Thanks for taking the time to upload such a useful video. 2015 Nissan Leaf. 👍😎👍
Glad I could have been of help!
@DoingThings_NL, thanks for great video, I successfully replaced touchscreen and put touchscreen panel into the car to connect to the main wide cable. But suddenly panel closed and unconnected cable remains inside. Do you know how open panel mechanism manually? Open/titl button not working anymore 😑
UPDATE: I fixed it using this comment from leaf forum ------------- The solution was to remove the infotainment system facia, then grab both sides of the screen and manually pull forwards. Then continue to refit the ribbon cable. I'm not sure but the screen seems to retract when pressure is applied from the front. If I did this again I would definitely disconnect the 12v battery. The good news is that the touch screen is now fully working, with no dead right hand side 😁 ------------
Great video!! Beautiful restoration. Watching these videos are very meditative to me and finding music that matches that mood is super hard (the most successful ones I've found seem to use classical music) all you used were a great choice. Sometimes narration interrupts the vibe, so I didn't mind the captions - they are important for those who aren't familiar with what you're doing. (ps. no paint on the mating surfaces on the frog - although it looked like you took it off on the top, not sure about the bottom where it connects to the body)
Thank you! (There is no paint on the mating surfaces, they were taped, maybe not very clear in the video)
@@DoingThings_NL thank you! Although a small detail, it made a big difference in a plane I restored & tuned up
Really nice end result!
Thanks!
Hey, thank you so much for this video my cheeky friend managed to fix his screen that wasnt working for a whole YEAR! thanks to you he got the knowledge and fixed his screen, such a cheeky boy with cheeky cheeks
Like so many others, I want to add my thanks and testimony. I followed all the steps in this marvellously clear and got to success! Saved me a small fortune. I had no issue with the initial underside screw being stiff but (unlike in the video) one of the 5 screws for the plastic casing (just underneath the Open/Tilt button) was very tight and needed to be drilled out. I recommend having a second pair of hands to hold the touchscreen in place when reinserting so it doesn't shut without the ribbon in place as happened some of the other commenters here. Thanks too for everyone who commented and shared their experiences and tips.
This video was super and has saved me a fortune. Thank you so much. Only comment I will make is getting the large connecting ribbon at the very end was tricky
Thank you!
Hi all, the links above are all dead now for the required part to do this. If anyone could share an updated accurate one I would appreciate it! I have a 2015 Tekna in the UK but can't find the right part to order. Thankyou very much!

@@DoingThings_NL Thank you but this doesn't ship to the UK unfortunately!
I found the part on eBay for £40 and fixed it easily with the help of this video. Thank so much for taking the time to put it together, much appreciated!
Just bought a new screen from siansmobiles on ebay , good service, sorted problem . Tried Ali express first but that didn't work . Chuffed to get it working on a great car.
Great video and restoration! It turned out wonderfully. Another suggestion for a nice relaxing video like this would be to chose your music wisely. I for one found the music at around 5:00 very fitting, but the music at the end not so much. Could just be me. Also, I think narrating your steps instead of typing them would increase the value of the video. Thanks for sharing!
Thanks for your comment, appreciate the suggestions. I am not a native English speaker so talking feels a little awkward.
Just a suggestion: It's hard to read the white letters against the light colored table. Nice restoration! 💪🏻
Thanks, I will take that into consideration on my next video's.

Nothing wrong with the instruction. But after I had replaced the screen it only gives a black screen when powered up. Did I ruined it or is there a way to fix this?
Sorry to hear that. Have you cheked the flat ribbon cable? Is it connected right?
Yes I have checked it as I assumed this could be the only reason for malfunction.
Many Thanks, managed to fix my touch screen today. Also fixed my wing mirrors from shuddering using white grease. pop the mirror and there is a hole in the corner 3/4 way up the mirror. spray white grease into the tube and you have no more noise, it lubricates the motor.
Thanks for the tip regarding the mirror.
thanks for sharing just replaced mine thanks to your video 2015 leaf Ireland
Thank you so much for this! A lifesaver!🎉 I couldn't connect to carwings anymore because of a password change and the right side of the screen was gone. Ordered the part in your link and did the job in about 25 minutes. Fantastic! Thanks🙏🏾😊
Glad I could have been of help!
Thanks for a great video.I managed to get the job done but I had a couple of problems and wanted to share. The first screws are definitely glued and I managed to get them off by heating a steel nail with a heat gun and pliers and then applying it to the screw heads several times and then I found that although I have several precision screwdrivers, that a cheap sunglasses screwdriver fit perfectly. I thought I was home free then but got complacent like an idiot and wrung the lower left screw(as you face the screen) when removing the housing.I had to cut it off with a dremmel. When I was placing everything back into the car when reinserting the power ribbon on the back of the unit the whole unit closed without the ribbon attached and it was dead.I thought I was done. But I used this link ruclips.net/video/-EmQ5NGXIfc/видео.htmlsi=DGpLKO3Y3l1KwlvM Which gave me enough space to use some soft trim removal tools and muscle to force the screen to tilt open again so I could attach the power ribbon correctly. Then just as I thought I was home free the cream retaining clip fell off and I had to re remove the whole unit and very very carefully with the aid of tweezers reattach the retaining clip and somehow managed to get away with it! It was still totally worth it.A lot of hassle but it was a €10 fix instead of a €400 whole unit replacement. Your link for the part still works in Jan 2024 and was delivered in 2 weeks with a shorter ribbon also.
Thanks for sharing, you had some bad luck there. Good idea to heat those tiny screws to soften the glue.
Extremely useful video. My own touch screen is now working great but I haven't got the metal plate with the two screws in place yet to secure the main ribbon cable. That's proving to be extremely fiddly. I think I'll need to get the plate accurately stuck down first and then try to attach each of the tiny screws to the screwdriver to avoid dropping them again! Edit: Magnetized my screwdriver and then with a good strong light managed to get it all back together again.
Thanks for the video and the plans you are indeed a legend ;-)
haha, thanks! Have fun with the build. Additional tip from a viewer is to chamfer the edges of the holes, helps the lego to fall through and not get stuck.
Just done mine thanks for the video it was really helpful. Don't forget to recalibrate after installed turn audio off press map 3 times audio power 2 times then map one more time go to conformation./diagnostics > display dignostics > touch panel > touch panel calibration & follow instructions
Thanks for the addition, allthough not everybody seems to need to recalibrate.
Great entertainment video 👌 I did change in less than 15 minutes 😊 Thanks man!!!!
You're welcome!
Thank you so much! I could repair my Nissan Leaf touch screen as well and did not run into any trouble by your great help.
You're welcome, glad I could have been of help
Fantastic video, I now have a very happy wife! I wish all instructional videos were as good as this, huge thank you. 👍
Thanks
Has anyone found a solution for a 2018 Nissan E-NV200? The unit looks the same as the Leaf but the digitizer is not the same. The touch screen digitizer has failed and Nissan has quoted some £8760 to replace the unit! There are various 4 pin digitizers available but mine has a much wider cable with some sort of control board attached. The model number of the screen is C070VW05 and the control board on the digitizer has the codes 402NGX-092-02E NGX0200-2500E.
Sorry, can't help you.
Thank you so much for this video. I had the the same problem. I've just finished successfully swapping out the faulty touch screen for a new one and it works perfectly. Would never have been able to do it without this video. Go raibh míle maith agat!
Great video !!! The new digitiser panel was delivered and fitted today £12 inc postage, all parts of screen now work, wife very pleased.
I bought the part linked in the description and followed your instructions. It was so easy to do and my touchscreen works again! So I just wanted to say a huge thank you! 👏
Ordered the recommended part from AliExpress, followed the instructions and I've now a functional touchscreen ! The ~20€ part definitely beat the 4500€ quote from the garage. Most fiddly part was reconnecting the ribbon cable coming out of the dash unit. Thank you, sir !
You're welcome, glad to be of help.

So followed your link to Ali Express, 2 weeks and £12 later, its arrived, just spent 20 mins doing exactly what you described and its all back together and now have a fully working screen again, all my screws came out easily, and must be using good quality screw driivers helps.Thank you so much for making such a clear easy to follow video, shame you dont make a professional business out of it, your videos are better than most employers videos i have had to endure over the years. :)
