So followed your link to Ali Express, 2 weeks and £12 later, its arrived, just spent 20 mins doing exactly what you described and its all back together and now have a fully working screen again, all my screws came out easily, and must be using good quality screw driivers helps.Thank you so much for making such a clear easy to follow video, shame you dont make a professional business out of it, your videos are better than most employers videos i have had to endure over the years. :)
Like so many others, I want to add my thanks and testimony. I followed all the steps in this marvellously clear and got to success! Saved me a small fortune. I had no issue with the initial underside screw being stiff but (unlike in the video) one of the 5 screws for the plastic casing (just underneath the Open/Tilt button) was very tight and needed to be drilled out. I recommend having a second pair of hands to hold the touchscreen in place when reinserting so it doesn't shut without the ribbon in place as happened some of the other commenters here. Thanks too for everyone who commented and shared their experiences and tips.
This video was super and has saved me a fortune. Thank you so much. Only comment I will make is getting the large connecting ribbon at the very end was tricky
Brilliant video! Really clear instructions. Thank you so much. My wife is now very happy and i have gained many husband points! At first i lost the screen completely, but i didn't reconnect the main, larger, ribbon cable connected properly when re-installing. Once fitted correctly it works perfectly. Just a reminder to people, make sure you disconnect your car battery once the screen is in the flat position as it will try to return the the main position as soon as you disconnect the main ribbon cable.
About to attempt this fix. Is the screen closing after ribbon cable removal really a risk? Can you detach the screen from the arms before removing the ribbon cable?
@@peddyrmacMy brain seems to have erased what happened now. Sorry. Think its always good practice to disconnect 12v battery when working on electronics. I seem to remember when re-connecting, as soon as i reconnected the ribbon cable, it tried to shut itself and could have damaged the cable.
It did try to return to the main position for me too, but luckily I was holding it, so i didn't allow it to return, kind of forced it to stay open. Probably not the best practice, but no damage there and it works perfectly 😊
If you don't attach to the cradle holders until the ribbon cable and back plate is re-fitted it don't matter if the cradle returns. Infact its helpful if it does as then its out of the way and much easyier to get to the screws.
It worked perfectly. Lessons learned: 1. Those little screws are VERY easily stripped. I bought a nice #0 screwdriver and used some alumina grit to remove the partially stripped screw. 2. It is possible to accidentially push the 'close' button in the same instant that you remove the first ribon cable. If that happens, you MAY need to remove the whole unit and drill through the outer plastic casing to remove the two screws holding the display to the motorized arms. Lots of extra work! Big thanks!
Just done mine thanks for the video it was really helpful. Don't forget to recalibrate after installed turn audio off press map 3 times audio power 2 times then map one more time go to conformation./diagnostics > display dignostics > touch panel > touch panel calibration & follow instructions
Ordered the recommended part from AliExpress, followed the instructions and I've now a functional touchscreen ! The ~20€ part definitely beat the 4500€ quote from the garage. Most fiddly part was reconnecting the ribbon cable coming out of the dash unit. Thank you, sir !
I bought the part linked in the description and followed your instructions. It was so easy to do and my touchscreen works again! So I just wanted to say a huge thank you! 👏
Very helpful I found out the hard way to definitely discontent the battery after you have opened the screen. Othwise you disconnect the ribbon and after a few minutes it closes itself, leaving the open button not working! I found a fix though. Grab hold of the big plastic trim around the screen, vents, heater controls etc. A slight pull frees it. Then lift it upwards to pull it away. Disconnect heater vents connector wire and pull away. Now you can get gold of the screen. Gently pull it open. No clicking or snapping. It just manually turns the motor. However, best to just disconnect the battery!!
Extremely useful video. My own touch screen is now working great but I haven't got the metal plate with the two screws in place yet to secure the main ribbon cable. That's proving to be extremely fiddly. I think I'll need to get the plate accurately stuck down first and then try to attach each of the tiny screws to the screwdriver to avoid dropping them again! Edit: Magnetized my screwdriver and then with a good strong light managed to get it all back together again.
Excellent video. Many Thanks. Fixed my screen in 30 minutes. Screen was dead for more than half screen on right side. After fitting replacement screen as above works perfectly and didnt even need calibrating. Excellent post!
Brilliant video thanks for sharing, I have the same problem with our screen not working on the right hand side. Now I know what to do I can go and repair it myself. A big thank you from Manchester UK.
Many Thanks, managed to fix my touch screen today. Also fixed my wing mirrors from shuddering using white grease. pop the mirror and there is a hole in the corner 3/4 way up the mirror. spray white grease into the tube and you have no more noise, it lubricates the motor.
Thank you so much for this! A lifesaver!🎉 I couldn't connect to carwings anymore because of a password change and the right side of the screen was gone. Ordered the part in your link and did the job in about 25 minutes. Fantastic! Thanks🙏🏾😊
Thanks for sharing, just replaced mine. I was dead scared of stripping those screws but they came out really easy, guess I was just lucky. Nissan quoted me £900 to fix, managed to do it in 40 mins with a ~£15 screen from Ali Express and this vid :).
I found your video the moment i had the head unit out of the car. Much appreciated! It all works, except in some cases for the "back" option, but I guess I have to calibrate the screen again.
@DoingThings_NL, thanks for great video, I successfully replaced touchscreen and put touchscreen panel into the car to connect to the main wide cable. But suddenly panel closed and unconnected cable remains inside. Do you know how open panel mechanism manually? Open/titl button not working anymore 😑
UPDATE: I fixed it using this comment from leaf forum ------------- The solution was to remove the infotainment system facia, then grab both sides of the screen and manually pull forwards. Then continue to refit the ribbon cable. I'm not sure but the screen seems to retract when pressure is applied from the front. If I did this again I would definitely disconnect the 12v battery. The good news is that the touch screen is now fully working, with no dead right hand side 😁 ------------
Hey, thank you so much for this video my cheeky friend managed to fix his screen that wasnt working for a whole YEAR! thanks to you he got the knowledge and fixed his screen, such a cheeky boy with cheeky cheeks
this is a very clear video... my problem is that one of the two initial screw heads has no 'tread' so i cant get any purchase with the screwdriver... am not confident to drill the screw out myself.
I have found that the right hand side will still work if you put one finger on the button you want and another finger to the left of it. Sometimes 2cm to the left of it, but it still selects the first touch.
Annoyingly this doesn't work for everyone, but a good first thing to check for sure. Didn't work for me though sadly so full replacement of screen needed.

Have you got any other thoughts on the 15 Tenka Nissan Leafs? I'm looking for replacement batteries to get it to got further and a house rack and Charing for the batteries that come out?
No experience with replacement batteries. We try to keep the maximum charge level at 80% and minimum at 20%. That is said to be best for any Li-ion battery.
Nothing wrong with the instruction. But after I had replaced the screen it only gives a black screen when powered up. Did I ruined it or is there a way to fix this?

Has anyone found a solution for a 2018 Nissan E-NV200? The unit looks the same as the Leaf but the digitizer is not the same. The touch screen digitizer has failed and Nissan has quoted some £8760 to replace the unit! There are various 4 pin digitizers available but mine has a much wider cable with some sort of control board attached. Which gave me enough space to use some soft trim removal tools and muscle to force the screen to tilt open again so I could attach the power ribbon correctly.
