My great grandmother, my grandparents my uncles and other decedents are buried at Woodlawn The Bronx. Lived at 689 East 233rd Street for years. Woodlawn is a beautiful place but sad.

In my 49 years, I have been to the Notre Dame Cathedral in Paris and the Cathedral in Cologne, Germany. When I was in New York a few weeks ago, I toured St. Patrick's with my wife and lit 6 candles. St. Patrick's is the closest thing to the cathedrals I saw in Europe. This video comes close to capturing what you see in person and I'm glad to see it here online.

What a beautiful and thorough video of this great space. I visited here with a friend for my only visit here in 1977. Much brighter than I remembered seeing it. I bought an album of the great organ and have it to this day....lol...thank you for this video from Austin.

Now it needs an exorcism since those demons held the funeral.

Just amazing how many of those huge mansions burned to the ground back then. Glad Rockefeller got the land and the land around it, (And even land across the Hudson to save the view) to build a park.

I’m from Washington state on the east side of the Cascade Range. I’ve never been to the East Coast except Florida 2x. Thank you for this beautiful tour of an amazing historic place. The details on that mausoleum palace was extraordinary! When was it built and used? It’s intriguing!!!

It makes sense that the exterior doesn't require flying buttresses as the vaulted ceilings are made of wood, lath and plaster.

Beautiful! I first heard of SPC New York due to the funerals of the two New York cops who tragically lost their lives while on duty. Since then I have regularly watched the daily stream of Mass whenever I can. Thanks for sharing this video. I'm intrigued by the green doors at 06:16 which appear to lead under the altar.

I lived in NYC and never noticed this street, so thank you for sharing this video. I currently live in a condo that was a brick coach house built to match a mansion. There must have been stables for a couple of horses in the basement and living areas for staff on the top floor, as there are many doorways. My drop ceilings is hiding a beautiful wooden curved ceiling where duct work for the building is now placed. It was built by money from the shoe industry at the turn of the century and the property was sold during the depression.

The Celia Cruz monument is beautiful inside.

A dead body decays the same even if not buried under dirt, so what was the purpose of the mausoleums...was it because they didn't want to be buried underground? Was it a status symbol to have these mausoleums? Or was it because they can afford it?

I absolutely love the architecture.

I would locecto visit this cemetery.

You ever think cemeteries get overfilled with graves? Like, what if they run out of room for another dead person to be buried in?

Hell I could do a better than this and because of it, your video lost a bit by of credibility which is such a shame. This used to be in the medieval sculpture hall. Why they moved it to the skylight sculpture hall, where the ancient textiles will fade from the sunlight is a mystery.

My Building was a Private Home built in late 1800’s. It eventually was converted to Apartments.

I have always loved these buildings. I have been trying forever to find the History of my Building. However, I would get close and find nothing. Is there a special place I have to go to find Historical Building ? Thank You
