Basically burns off the gray pigment and allows for direct light to go through which makes the image look the way it does

The tape helps to keep the parts not being engraved from burning.

You definitely can! But you will most likely run into some burning where you don't want it. The masking ensures a crisp engrave.

We've found that if we have the power too high for a mirror or glass item, that it starts to almost chip away and crack the glass.

We haven't tested mylar yet, but are adding to our list! We have cut it on our Cricut but it did require quite a few passes. We aren't sure that it would work in the Aura machine since it's a translucent material. It looks like others have used it in the Glowforge Plus and Pro, though.

You can definitely do that! You might run into the little pieces falling through the crumb tray but you can just remove the tray and retrieve your cuts.

We used the Glowforge Pro settings: Speed: 1000, Power: 70, LPI: 270. When engraving mirrors, you want to be sure flip the design and engrave while the mirror is facing down so that the laser doesn't reflect back on itself.

@@CicelyReneeDoesLife Thank you! We used the Home Decor Folk Art Chalk Paint from Hobby Lobby. Any acrylic paint will work great. We really liked the matte finish of the chalk paint though. Walmart also has a great selection.

Hello! We purchased this wood veneer from Glowforge. It comes with 3M adhesive already on the back which is super convenient.

Is the adhesive heat activated to be used with a hat heat press? Or can it easily be peeled off?

We don't have any other instructions or video pertaining to engraving silicone at this time. We used painter's tape to protect the surrounding silicone from the laser. Settings will vary depending on how deep you want to engrave.
