NORTHERN TACTICS
Добавлен 30 авг 2016
Northern Tactics is a way for me to capture and preserve memories with family and friends. Growing up on the Gunflint Trail in northern Minnesota brought me a natural instinct to search for adventure! I cant wait to share these memories with everyone!
Grouse and fall Brookies in Northern Minnesota
Took a nice hike into a small lake that I've never fished before. Funny I grow up and live on the gunflint trail for 20 somethin years and I'm still going to new lakes. Got to take Shea and the dogs along for the trip and it ended up being a pretty amazing day.

Antelope hunting with a bow

Well, took another trip to South Dakota this year chasing speed goats. Was blessed to have some luck this year with my two buddy's Kyle and Buck. We are learning that every time we go back we are loving this area more and more. It feels like time is paused there and nothing changes from year to year besides the location of animals. Between the animals, people and land this place is just amazing...

Northern Minnesota Crappies

Took Nathan and the dogs to a lake i have never ben on to try to put some crappies in the boat. I got to say this was one of my most successful trips this summer. I wish I had a clicker today because I bet we caught 50-60 fish. Had tons of fun and this was much needed after working Monday-sat most of the summer! Down-rigging inland lakes
Просмотров 3823 месяца назад
Thought I would do a little video on how I down-rig the inland lakes I grew up fishing. when I was little I didn't down-rig ever. Im guessing it just wasn't as big as it is now. It has come to be one of the most effective ways to catch trout mid summer and is super fun to do! The only place to stay!!! Well cache has been an awesome addition to the household. When we got him I wasn't super interested in getting a dog yet. Shea insisted and he has been awesome. The only thing that bothers me is he's not really a hunting dog. One day at work my Forman told me his buddy was having a litter of black labs so here we are a few weeks later. Welcome to the family Sakoi!
We made a sight tape and arrows the day before TAC (Total Archery Challenge)
Просмотров 4804 месяца назад
Took a short trip out to South Dakota with some close friends to shoot TAC. I didn't have a good sight tape coming into the shoot so my buddy buck picked us up a chronograph and we took up the challenge of building me one and making my arrows the night before our shoot!

Like the updates in the moment!
Fun stuff Jaret!
Fellow Minnesotan, that’s a nice buck congratulations! I always cringe when I see videos of good hunters like yourself not wearing a harness, hope you make that choice in the future. Good luck this season.
Good times! Beauty day!
Fish don't get any more beautiful than that. Nice catch, great to see the pup growing. Good luck deer hunting
Big 8 🎯🤙
Years of fun ahead of you Jaret, with a young dog. No shame in road hunting Grouse. keep up the fun videos. Hope to be up a gunflint pines this spring for Trout opener!
Tell Bob to trap those beaver before freeze up... they won't make it through the winter..
@@1119skye I’m gonna get back into that! I’ll make sure he knows tho!!
Labs love too learn & are super smart but they also are super ignorant. I have a 3 year old red haired fox lab & iv been trying to teach her to track blood trails for deer. So far see just starts hunting for mice.😂
Darn impressive retrieving for a pup. Appears to have a very soft mouth. Way to go!
So much fun training and watching dogs 👍
God country up there I camped up there last year!
Awesome video! What a hunt!
Err...that's not hunting. I'll bet you "fish" with dynamite too.
give the lake back to the natives, waskish and the resorts surrounding it make money off what should be red lake tribal lands and waters
Flagged your buddy with a drawn bow…
Heck of a shot!
Congratulations on an awesome goat! Great video. I know you guys all know this, be super careful when you guys are stacked up like that. It kinda looks like the shooter drew his bow with it pointed at the decoy man. I would hate see something bad happen 😳 Congratulations again on the goat. Getting one with your bow is a true challenge ❤
@@PoormanPokemon yes, I agree it looks really bad in the video but I made sure to not aim directly at him but keep it close so I had less movement for the antelope to see when I stood up. Thanks a ton! I’ll share the score once it’s official.
Looked like a lot of fun. I’ve only ever hunted whitetail.
Wait, why can't you gut it?
@@isaacohman4278 so because it’s a city hunt the city wants us to dispose of the body and guts somewhere else. They say people’s dogs will find the gut piles so they made it a rule that you have to take everything with you.
Great video Great to hear that you like Spruce grouse meat. In the Yukon, most grouse are Spruce and it is delicious table fare especially with wild cranberry sauce. Like to see a hunter walking the trail instead if quading!

@@jeffcholewa ok ya taking notes. I’ll do that for sure!!
@@jeffcholewa I will for sure!! Is there anything in particular that you want to know???
@@northerntactics the biggest thing I have ever operated was a payloader 😀. I noticed you were using both right and left hand joysticks. But there are also foot pedals. Just wondering which ones do what. Thanks. Keep up the great videos. Say hi to your mom for me.
@@jeffcholewa yes the foot peddles control track movement forward and backwards. Left hand joystick is (side to side) turn left and right. (Forward backwards)is stick in and out. Right joystick is (side to side) curl bucket and forward backwards is boom up and down. I may have the boom and stick backwards (I don’t ever think about it) I’ll show it in the next video!
Love this stuff man, I love to watch you operate these machines. I’m a senior in high school and I’m going to take my union test to try to get into the operators engineers and operate once I graduate. I learn a lot from watching you operate. Thanks again for making these styles of videos!

Great vid, congrats on a nice buck, I'm inland between Two Harbars and Duluth, tough hunting last few years, I have had to travel closer to the Lake to get my opportunities, often thought about the Duluth hunt, but never have. TH has a city hunt too, tried to contact them, but no response.
Duluth city hunt is a great opportunity at big deer. Super fun and cool to hunt inside city limits as well. It’s a fair amount of hoops to jump through to get in but I think it’s totally worth it!
Was this on private land or a special draw hunt?

Nice bro.... 9:07
I've fished down riggers on Superior out of Duluth before, but on a charter boat. Nice to see a bit of a tutorial on how to fish them on a smaller boat/lake.
@@elkmike23 yes, almost all the charters run them. Its easy especially with a big boat because they can’t vertical jig as easily. A lot of times they will run 4-6 riggers and then half or more of them will have stacked lines on them so 2 a rigger. When I deckhand for my cousin we will run stacked downriggers and then ledcore aside them.

How did you get into that line of work? I'm 41 and my lower back is pretty wrecked from 25 years of physical labor. Blue collar guy here for sure, so that job would suit me well
@@elkmike23 I started private about 10 years ago did mostly laboring and some operating. Few years of that and I was being left alone on jobs and doing most of the operating. Then I got into the union and now I’ve been running everything besides crane but most of the time I’m in a bigger hoe. Gotta have a good grade eye and good Common sense.
