Hike Laurel Run trail & boardwalk at Parker Dam State Park in Pennsylvania

A very common trail to walk on at Parker Dam State Park is a short jaunt on the Nature Boardwalk and then along Laurel Run Trail which follows the lake edge where you’ll see Laurel Run as it flows into Parker Dam Lake. The trail allows you to see a bog setting to your right, and it has a different view for each season. Beautiful! The trail transitions from boardwalk to pine needles as you walk ...
Hike Beaver Brook Trail in New Hampshire, Appalachian Trail in a short trip
Просмотров 8521 день назад
Upon our last visit in the fall of 2024, our family visited Beaverbrook Trail in New Hampshire for a short hike on the Appalachian Trail. This portion of the trail was very rough and quite fun. Although we did not have much time to walk as we started late, we really enjoyed the fall foliage and the scent of nature as we hiked up along the Brook Trail. I strongly encourage anybody that would lo...

cool pics. We went horse back riding when we went. It was close to the edge on some descends. Part of the answer has to do with an original pioneer man. I'll come back and see if there's follow up to the rest of the answer on the white cliffs. Thanks for the vid.
We saw lots of horse droppings and saw a few on other trails. It looked more fun than climbing some of our trails! And yes, pioneer man is a vague start to answer! Love it. Email, we’ll send you one of our patches. Thanks for watching and being a supporter!

My grandfather was in and I have his patch that they gave them to sew onto their jacket but my grandfather never sewed it onto anything so it’s basically mint condition. It’s not a patch like we think of them now
That’s awesome. It’s always nice to hold onto something that has original ties and It’s got that personal connection. Believe or not, they do make some pretty hard-core patches these days. I actually manufacture patches as part of a business. I make the old classic standard embroidered patch designs, as well as woven. I love collecting various patches as well. Frame your grandpa‘s patch and hang on your wall! Be proud!
We need this program today.
@@thecrone7964 i agree. I honestly think that programs, such as this, could really prevent some of the problems that we have currently. I believe there’s a great deal that would take part in a CCC program. More fixes to infrastructure, discipline, less drug and crime possibly, there’s a lot of things that have benefits. I’m sure that I’m overlooking some of the negatives but…

Not too far from me
Great research on the inhabitants....very interesting! Gosh, the infant mortality rate was, sadly, so high. That'd be a neat place to metal detect (with permission). Great video....very interesting 👍
Recently, I went to the rockton cemetery which I mentioned in the video and I have a bunch of relatives up there. I bet there was at least six of my relatives graves that were infant and under 2. Crazy! Thank you for watching!
One of my favorite Maya Cities. Not as big as Tikal or Copan but very well restored and easier to understand the elites that lived there and worked there. Very accessible.
I think it's the size and the location that make it really interesting, add to that, it wasn't high traffic. Tikal and the other sites had crowds, and Cahal Pech was just a quiet, pleasant, and peaceful. Thank you for watching!

Ack! I was hoping you'd see some hobo symbols! Cool tunnel, though! 👍
None. The walls are different construction. Not so much the quarry and cut stones. I have intentions on visiting another tunnel, hopefully this week. We'll see. I'd like to find some different images too. Cheers!
I'm gonna look for these. I knew of them, but always presumed they were not permanent (presumed they were painted, etc) and therefore no longer in existence. 👍
The FTRA used to tag with spraypaint a lot. I used to see the tags sometimes trying to find a place to sleep back when I did some "urban camping"
@chacheney Interesting..thanks for the info! 👍
What's sad is DCNR has recently torn down the remnants of the tipple you have photos of and have been destroying the remaining rail road structure.
I heard that. Looking at that area, what was it harming? Nothing at all.
You should start by explaining what a 'hobo' is.
Good point. I believe there’s times that we just assume we know the definitions but others don’t. Thank you for the suggestion.
@@Timberadventures I got it somehow by watching the video. People moving around the countryside seeking work opportunities and a place to eat and sleep.
I feel like the word "hobo" is falling out of fashion. Unfortunately.
It is. Most likely because of the change in status. The original definition and patterns of the originals has changed vastly. True hobos are on a true decline. Thanks for watching!
The most facinating thing about this is that there likely is another secret language, or other form of communication such as the hobo symbols, alive today around wherever you live.
An ever evolving culture shift...new language and terms and probably symbols. You're definitely correct. Although the general idea of hoboism in the original form is changing as well. Thanks for sharing.
I'm just south, in Maryland....I might have to check this out in person!👍 R.I.P. Simba 🙏 🐕
Thanks! Simba was very cool. If you check these sites out, let me know. They’re almost in my backyard

In England, Rhyming Slang and Polari were both 'secret' languages that allowed disadvantaged and discriminated groups to communicate while avoiding detection by the authorities. The former developed in the East End of London and was adopted by the criminal underclass while the latter was prevalent among fairground workers, entertainers and gay folk.
I wasn't aware of any of that info. That's really good info. Just gives me something else to look up and ready about...more info to clog my brain. Thank you for sharing, and watching!
I have played a game called "Shadows Voer Loathing" which is a very silly game with obscure jokes and gags. In it they use the hobo code which I only thought was a gag in the game (as its for very strange and specific things), its very interesting to see that it actually takes inspiration from real life.
They do use some very strange symbols for meaning and check out their words they used too, even more bizarre! Thanks for watching!
i had no idea this was even a thing, it's so neat! thanks for the informational video, keep it up! 😀
I'm always looking for new topics to explore! I’m glad you enjoyed it and learned something new. I learn new topics every day from these explorations! Thanks
Really cool. Thanks.
I appreciate you watching. Cheers!
My grandmother told me about feeding hobos during the Depression. They would leave a mark on her fencepost letting others know that she had a good heart. Likewise they marked people who didn't help...
That’s a priceless experience to hear about, finding out that during the hardest of times…even if people didn’t have much…then stretched to share what they did. Thank you for sharing.
@Timberadventures Yes, she was a lovely woman who taught me a lot. She lived near some train tracks then, and her husband worked on the railroad. She was tough...and gentle. They don't make them like that anymore. 😏🌹
Grandpa Simpson was right!
so cool, in SA were i live there is a high concentration of hobos and absolutely no shortage of graphiti so i usually see signs like these on the side of the road in many places
@@OliverLapage once you see a couple, catch yourself looking at them all the time. And then you can’t stop yourself from looking everywhere you go!

Was Curtis’s Wright involved with the nuclear program.,and I spent considerable amount of hours in the Medix Run hotel, my grandfather bartended there and my dad was born in Medix Run, thanks for the video
They referred to it as “atoms for peace”. 😆 but yes, they built and owned the reactor while researching nuclear fuel…etc. They made a fine mess of things! You have some good family ties to the area! Thanks for watching.
Funny Curtiss Wright is not spelled right on the sign. There is 2 S in Curtiss. Fun Fact they invented the first snow making machine.
Snow making! I love this type of info. Not sure who made the sign. I always assumed it was the state, since they managed that area afterward and do now too. So, if a state worker spelled it…I can believe it. 😅

@@PerpetualMemories-y4q Hey Perpetuity! Thanks for traveling along. Long time, no see. Next adventure, I'll message ya.
There are some on the inside of the old Ringoes Train Station in Hunterdon Co. NJ. Near the Gift Shop.
It is so awesome to be able to travel past these places and then you start looking and seeing the different signs. It’s fascinating. I’m glad that someone else, other than myself, spots them through their travels. Thanks for watching!
I am from the county and visited the area about 8 years ago. I also wondered about the drainage pipes. I was more fascinated on the 2 stainless pipes coming out of the ground. You dont see stainless pipes used for drainage everyday. Seems like a very expensive option. Hopefully its not stainless because of the chemicals coming out of the ground.
I was wondering the same thing about the stainless pipes. It was odd!
