Hiking Mount Dickerman - Beautiful (challenging) hike!
On a beautiful November day, Chase and I decided to hike Mount Dickerman, in the North Cascades. Just about an hour and a half away from Seattle, this trail rewarded us with some incredible views over the surrounding peaks, including Mount Glacier and Mount Baker. Despite being relatively in shape, I found this hike pretty challenging. It took us about 5 miles to get to the summit, a lot of switchbacks, and some needed breaks along the way. Fresh snow made the last stretch fun and magnificent - though my knees may think differently. On our first day of the Markha Valley Trek, Sam and I met our guide in Leh and drove to Spituk on a beautiful drive. There had just been some serious thunderstorms and flooding, so we had to take a few "interesting" detours as some of the bridges had collapsed in the previous weeks. On our first day in Ladakh, Sam and I decided to drive up to Khardung La Pass (5,600 a.s.l.) and cycle down to Leh. Riding our bikes on the highest motorable in the road was just phenomenal! It was also a good way to get a first glimpse of what "altitude sickness" really means as we were preparing for our Markha Valley Trek.
