What about electric weedeater, with straight shaft and small propeller??? Like a mud motor but less powerful, and slow. Always it will be slow with smaller battery and motor, and kayak. Take the coupler from a curved shaft trimmer and put it on a straight shaft electric one. Shaft driven motor type obviously. Just needs a good pivoting mount, You could do a simple flexible square lashing and it would probably work I tried this with a gas one, and its waaaay too loud and smoky, but with a simple silent electric motor, it would work. Battery and electronics not waterproof so dont be tipping into the water with the setup. Probably very good on a canoe with the space and stability.

Really works well. Battery gauge is not super super accurate but the motor is pretty great. Haven't used it in salt water yet. Eventually

Lotta power for a little guy have a 14 foot fishing boat had a real old trolling motor on it didn’t work very well but this one almost don’t need my gas motor it works really good quiet would buy again
