So many relatable things in this one... Justin, I've done that "lemonade" fast (Master Cleanse w/lemon, maple syrup, cayenne) by day 10, the mental clarity is incredible. What Dave said about food, I've had the same experiences... had a time recently where I lost 17 pounds in 17 days, weighed out 50g of Hardbite chips one night, then 100g the next, then killed the bag lol - but in the same way, it's like a reward, when the real reward is the long-term, healthy feeling of taking care of your body and - as a result - your mind. Food, like emotional states, releases neuropeptides that, when present over and over, can be just as addictive as heroin... and just like substance addiction, our minds will play all kinds of mental gymnastics in order to justify all manner of irrational and damaging behaviours to perpetuate those... The ideas around moderation and balance are key... the way I remind myself of how that kind of thinking is bullshit for so many areas of my life is this: If you put a piece of shit in your sandwich, no matter how small the piece is - even if it's the size of a fingernail - it doesn't matter the size, it's still a shit sandwich 😉 Despite his penchant for substance abuse, Hunter S. Thompson spoke to these ideas of mediocrity or security really well here www.ram.org/contrib/security.html I was reminded of this with Justin talking about how people believe life is supposed to be easy, but nothing worthwhile is usually easy... and even when it is, it takes a lot of discipline to get to a place where it is. Went through a similar program to Landmark (the founders were students of the same people) called Lifestream and it was powerfully transformative. They used the attraction over promotion method, but they did less to equip those conversations and suffered for it. If you guys want to pursue creating a new program that's a better mix of those approaches, it would definitely fill a need. I'm game to join you on that, too. Lifelong learning is the only way to live. And I agree that there is a level of sitting back and letting things be, and, like Hunter Thompson said in that paper - no judgements if someone is happy with security as the ultimate goal for their life - but if someone settles for that, and truly isn't wired that way, living a life of regret, looking back on things from their deathbed and all of the missed opportunities taunting them is tragic... simply for the belief that it wasn't possible, when all it would take is the courage to step out, fall, fail, and experience setbacks on the way to those successes and the impacts the world would be richer to have had along with you... 👏👏👏 Thank you! 👏👏👏 That's exactly what I've been thinking for a very long time. I'm ok with forgiveness... I just don't subscribe to "forgive and forget". If we forget the important lessons given about the nature of these forces that perpetuate radical division and hatred, we are doomed to be subject to it. Forgive, yes... but never forget and always be vigilant, or tyrants can easily creep into places to exploit those who would hold the line against them. The last few years have proven this over and over again.

Brilliant, brother... thanks for sharing your journey. It helps to know that there's one more person who's grappled with that voice of inner ego/pain that hasn't been reassigned to look for love and abundance... sometimes those voices dig deep, and it's easy to forget that they're fragments of ourselves with misguided attempts at protecting us in the perception that more pain will come from doing what's hard and uncomfortable... it's easier to fall into this trap these days as it seems there's an enormous push to try and falsely push the narrative that we're all so fragile that we need to be protected from the suffering and challenges that life throws at us. Not only so, but we also glory in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance; perseverance, character; and character, hope. And hope does not put us to shame, because God’s love has been poured out into our hearts through the Holy Spirit, who has been given to us. Romans 5:3-5 NIV

I wasn't really fully aware of his role in destabilizing global currencies to his own profit and the profit of wealthy investor groups, and knew more of the recent, more politically motivated funding of radical militant, activism, and special interest groups.
