The Best windscreen for Compact Cameras and Cellphones using H1 Essential by Zoom
In this video I show you the best windscreen for compact cameras and cellphones. I also explore the design of the best windscreen you can use with the sound recorder H1 Essential by Zoom, analysing it's efficiency experimentally. A sound recorder is a very useful tool for replacing the soundtrack of a compact camera or cellphone, when we can't use a windscreen on the camera itself.

Can you advise on 2.5cm acrylic please. Especially cutting the flat face at at 30 angle? Pentagonal cross section
Sorry, can't help you with that. I can only suggest cutting oversized and sanding it down using something as a template or guide.
@RODsDIY yup okay. Do you think cutting individual sheets first, then welding together chemically will work and give the same transparency?
@@ipiadarrelgadabu7845 I dont know, I've never done that.
This is brilliant! I used to cut PVC sheet w/ a fine blade turned backwards on a table saw and was thinking of trying it w/ 1/4" acrylic but will use my angle grinder. I never would have thought of this.
Thanks for your comment TheTrock.
@@RODsDIY I cut the piece oversized and took fine passes on the jointer to dial it in. Worked like a charm. Making the plate for a router table.
@@TheTrock121 Oh, yes. Removing material little by little can give you great precision, something cutting by hand can´t give you some times.

I really like this video, it's really good!!! My question is: Can turtles eat duckweed???
Thanks for your comment Cale. As far as I know turtles can eat any water plant, including duckweed, although duckweed is not very convenient due to its rapid growth and it's ability to suffocate filters and block pumps.
Got it!! Have a nice day!

can i do the same with coolpix l5 ?
I'm not familiar with the I5, but it's mechanisms are probably very similar to others. If you trust your fingers are skillful, maybe you should do some experimenting.
My personal opinion is to buy a mid ranged (60-90e) mechanical "gaming" keyboard, as I have used mine since 2018 and the only keys that have worn off are the "A" and "S" keys. On membrane keyboards, I have even carved holes in them by daily usage in a year, so I HIGHLY discourage buying them unless you work, or use them, in a place that has water hazards as membrane keyboards are waterproof. I even have spilled liquids on my current mechanical keyboard and it has survived almost all of them, the down arrow key is damaged since last year, but still usable. Also, isopropyl alcohol is non-conductive, if used in 85-99%, so no fear of shorting anything really but do disconnect batteries as safety for laptops and bluetooth-based devices. The soldering portion is diabolical though, whatever works LOL.
Great contribution. Thanks. I was wondering what keyboard I could use when skin diving 🤣🤣🤣
These membrane keyboards like that Dell are absolute battle tanks, you dont need to spend a fortune on a mechanical. You can restore worn out letters and symbols with some creativity. Just use white nail paint in this case and use paper or something where you can use it as a "graffiti" mold. Also spray can paint can work too. Your probably have used bad quality membrane ones, these tend to get their keys erased pretty fast. Also their plastic is pretty bad. The typical generic keyboard mouse combo of some prebuilts.
Thanks for your comment@@LtCommanderTato . I'm pretty sure Can paint Can work 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Thank you. This is exactly what I was looking for!! I have three windows in my house that whistle and let out my heating. I'm going to try and fix it now:)
Thanks for your comment Sarah and good luck with sealing those windows.
my sony cybershot lens stuck outside, what should i do?
Could it be dirt between the lens barrels or a software issue?
@RODsDIY i think its a software issue, when i was recording and suddenly its stuck. still 0:00 and not recording, right now the screen looks its doesn't turn on anymore
@@seraphhine In that case the procedure I show here wont help you. You should take it to a camera service for them to check.
What is the load bearing capacity if these drop in anchors?
You have to check with the manufacturer where you live.
Sir, I recently purchased an old canon ixus 110is camera from Japan surplus. I did not notice the lens cover was missing or maybe stocked and when I tried turning it on it says lens error. Will this method work?
If the lens barrel tries to extend, jerks and bounces back, that's a sign of something blocking the lens, most usually dirt. For this my suggestions might work. However, if it does not jerk at all, then most probably it's a software or electric issue, and for that you have to take it to a camera service.
Sir what can we use at home for cutting curves on acrylic
If you need to cut perfect circles you can use something like this: ruclips.net/video/tYtYsgO3oLs/видео.html But if you need to cut irregular curves , I believe, your best option is to follow a template with a scoring knife to create a path so you can use another tool with less risk of it running away. To go deeper and finish the job some people have suggested a hand saw, going slow and carefully, with the highest teeth per inch saw you can get (>32). If you can, a better option might be a Dremel with a cutting disc, but its difficult to get it around circles.
@RODsDIY can we use jigsaw for circles
@@ArtBuddyIndian If you read other comments here you'll see some people say they have used jigsaws without issues. In any case, as I said, I would suggest making a path previously with a scoring knife as it's difficult to get a jigsaw or handsaw to make a regular path, and you might end up having to do a lot of sanding.
Make sense! And do you think it’s better to cool it down in the air than quenching it?
In my experience with copper and brass, there is no visible difference in slow or fast cooling, except that you can move on quicker with quenching.
Is it possible to cut acrylic 2, 4 mm of different shapes at home? I want to use this material as a base for a neon sign at home. I haven't decided on the material yet, but acrylic seems like a good option. And the problem is that the base should at least a little bit repeat the shape of the font.
I have never cut shapes in acrylic - like letters or numbers - so I can't give you an experience based response. I would suggest first making a path for the cut following a template with a scoring knife, and once you complete the whole circuit move over to another tool like a Dremel with a cutting wheel or a fine teeth hand saw. Always practice first on waste material to see how you can get round corners without cracking the plastic.
@@RODsDIY thanks! i will try.
Sir can we use jigsaw for 5 mm thick acrylic sheet
Some people say they have used different saws for similar thicknesses without any issue, but my experience with anything with teeth is not good. In any case the larger amount of teeth per inch should give better results (I would recommend over 32) and always going very slow. If you go to fast - like a power tool - the heat build up can leave the teeth covered in melted plastic.
Hi i have problem on my nikon coolpix l4 I bought it yesterday and the lens was opening half way through and I need to close lense by myself. When I tried to pull it out it was focusing but when I turned off it didn't go in and when it turned off it makes mechanism sound and i can't push it back, when I try to push it back it makes clicking noise and I take battaries off it stoped but when I put new batteries on it still doing it if press any button it won't do anything and Either on/off button now it stuck open
If you bought it yesterday you must return it and they should give you a new one that works correctly. In most countries that is the law. Nobody has the right to sell you things that dont work correctly. Fight for your rights. Any attempt you make to fix the problem yourself will make the warranty unvalid.
It’s the opposite problem for me The lens won’t retract and the lens curtain is completely open
Oh. Does it make any attempt to close. Or nothing happens when you turn it off?
@ I can just hear a sound but even the screen won’t turn on when I try to turn it on or off :( Lens curtain won’t move either I already charged the battery too
@@lumiliwanag I believe you might have to take it to a camera service. In my experience when the lens barrel is jammed at least it tries to move when you turn it on or off. In any case you wont damage it if you try to remove any dust or particles that might be stuck in the lens barrel, before taking it to the service.
hey, mine’s a dsc h55, over 12 years old but in good shape, issue is: It looks like it could turn on fine, it responds to the on button, the screen turn on in “clock settings” and none of the buttons that should be for navigating responses, the screen is stuck in clock settings, the lens DO NOT open, not even a bit but it does make a noise like it wants to open but it doesn’t
Interesting. It sounds as if it had a software issue, but maybe the stuck lens is blocking the software from continuing with the start-up process. See if you can get the lens out using the methods I describe, specially the vacuum cleaner method. If that won't work, maybe your only option is taking it to a camera service.
@ it definitely sounds like the lens are blocking the software, bc the battery is fine, it turns on, it makes like a shooting noise like it’s a machine or something. i can’t choose any option, the background is black (bc lens dont open) and the clock settings are there, i get the “cybershot” intro and right after i get the clock settings. I’ve tried it all except from your method and deep cleaning, i’ll try it tomorrow and let u know how it goes. Thank u for being active and helping us folks with old cameras
@@down2dead Yep. That shooting noise is precisely many attemps to extend the lens barrels, and then, at least in my camera, it gives up. I Hope one of those methods work for you and we get good news, but don't give up easily, sometimes it takes lots of patience. 👍
or just buy new keys for the keyboard LOL
Sure, be my guest. LOL rocking on the floor 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
If uncomfortable with high speed machinery and/or cracking the plexi, I tried cutting plexi by hand with a coping saw, a hacksaw, and a fine-toothed wood saw. I had to be gentle with the coping saw since the blade wasn't supported. The problem was the frame of the coping saw couldn't fit through the cut. Same with the hacksaw. The wood saw worked fine. Though I did a small chip of the corner of the plexi, I do have some pointers. 1. Be patient. Cut slow so no heat or smell of melted plexi. 2. Keep checking every few millimeters to make sure you're cutting straight. 3. Don't force the blade to cut or put pressure on the plexi. 4. If you feel impatient or annoyed at cutting, stop, remove the blade from the cut, a put the project on pause until another day. 5. After cutting about 1/2 way through the plexi, be careful. The plexi can flex and crack or break. If need be, either begin the cut again on the opposite side of the plexi or flip the plexi over and resume cutting. Cutting on the opposite side applies pressure on the strongest part of the plexi, making it less susceptible to fracture until you get close to the halfway point. Problem is the slight deviation in height, depending on the amount of deviation. This may need filing the edge smooth, so be sure to add 1mm or 2mm to the true dimensions of the desired plexi. If filing a clean edge, again, go slow, be patient, and check the results. Flipping the plexi over and resume cutting gets the blades to start cutting on the opposite side of the cut. This makes the cutting easier and resume smoothly. You do have to watch for flex fractures, chipping, or going off the mark. But little by little, you'll get a good clean edge needing very little sanding or filing.
Thanks for your extensive comment Delano, and your suggestions. I must highlight the "if getting angry" go and run around the block before you continue. Very useful in a variety of circumstances. 😁
Hi. Thank you for those observations and tips. What would you recommend for smoothing out the edges?
@@Resolute900 I use a triangular rat tail file. I run the file diagonally towards the center to deburr the edges. Then, depending on the level of deviation, I'll file the raised sections, often checking it being level by laying one side of the triangular file across the edge. Or I'll use a small leveler. Rather time consuming since it files down fine particles of plexi, but it's better to take off thousandths of an inch at a time and have a proper edge rather than take off too much and have to restart. That's if I need an EXACT piece of plexi; I'll add 1mm to the measurement. Usually when I cut a piece of plexi, what I need it for has an acceptable tolerance I can get away with. Sometimes plus or minus 5mm to 10mm.
@@RODsDIY I'd also like to add that I've seen someone successfully use a coping saw to cut beveled edges or rounded corners in plexi.
@@Resolute900 I prefer to use sanding paper over a block of wood, I find it easier to handle and gives me more uniform results.
A jigsaw works much better than the grinder for sheets 2mm and thicker. It takes a real ham fist to break the plastic with a jigsaw. Set the blade oscillation to the lowest setting and use a fine tooth metal cutting blade and you will not catch and break the plastic unless you are really clueless at how fast to feed a saw.
Thanks for your suggestion LTVoyager.
knowledge. One question I saw your products are in spanish, and the glass you used to put the electrolysis liquid said “colcafe”. Are you in Colombia? And another question I have, is: the liquid was yellow when you started the process, but, at the end it was clear. Is this because of the electricity? Or the metal? Curious, because the muriatic acid is most of the time yellow and I wonder if this clear liquid is still the diluted acid or if at the end is no longer usable.
1) No, but I liked that colombian cofee and it's container 😁 2) The change of colour shows the chemical reaction has depleted the HCl. I understand the Cl bonds to the tin and the H goes of in the gas bubbles, so what's left most probably is water or a very watery HCl. Sorry but I don't remember the full ballanced equations. I would say it's no longer usable.
Great video. Saved me a lot of time, money and effort. Thank you so very much 💜

I have sony camera and its like old for 10 yr or more. And the camera is stuck , its not opening . But uts charging smoothly, and the photos where we saw pictures working smoothly only the problem is. That isnt opening. I tried to remove the battery and put it again. So do i need to put new battery or memory card
Hi, if it's charging well why would you need a new battery? Does it make any noise or attempt to eject the lens barrel after pressing the start button?
@@RODsDIY my issue is the same and it does make a noise while doing so
@@withspf_ If it makes a noise but there is no attempt to eject the lens barrel, that noise might be something else. Evidently you have power but the software doesn't send an order to open the lens. With the info you have shared it seems that you have a software, something we can't fix withought a service technician. If the lens trembled a bit together with the start noise one could believe there is something stopping it from ejecting, and in that case it most probably could be dust or particles on the lens barrel.
are you sure it is theft and not vandalism?
I'd have to ask them 🤣🤣🤣. Over here it's usually theft, but I can't rule out some cases of vandalism. It's very possible.
Will this method devalue the stamps? Thank you in advance! ❤
I understand that some kinds of stamps can loose value with this method. For example, mint stamps, those that still have glue on them. Also some stamps have more value if you keep them on the envelope. To know exactly which stamps, or in which cases you should not use this process you need an expert, and I'm not. If you have a very valuable stamp you should do nothing with it before seeking expert advice.

Quick question, would warming up the sealant with a heat gun?
No idea if that would work. You can try it on a test material, before trying something like this ruclips.net/video/_deI0em7m_0/видео.html
In Brazil we also call it plastichumbo. They used to be common in exposed installations. Nowadays these cables are hard to find and expensive. We use conduits embedded in the masonry and the norms have made other installation methods more difficult.
