If you are idiot, anywhere you go problem finds you, but if you are cool and you know things, no problems. People often forget that they're tourists anywhere they go except home. If you go to Palermo and you act like a idiot or you dont respect culture and land, well... Even home you gona get f if you are like that. Sicilia, Campagna and Calabria are something else. I lived in Palermo 2.5 years. Was visiting also Naples in Campagna, Crotone and Reggio di Calabria in Calabria provence. I love Italia. Best people and best land in world for me. Soon im gona return. If you respect em, nobody and never gona give you hard time. Even more, they gona protect you like their own.

Nico, can you tell me if the walking tour is worth doing on Christmas day? We will be in Palermo only on that day and I can't find any information on what is open and what is not open.

No matter where you go on this planet, there is the positive and the negative you must live with. This became vividly clear to me after I moved to the Philippines in 2018. It’s what they warn you about if you plan to divorce and marry someone new. You’ll be marrying someone with a whole different set of positives and negatives. What is great about human intellect though is that we are able to adapt, to grow, and actually choose what to focus on in our environment and relationships and what to ignore. Essentially it is up to us to do that, and if we don’t, we don’t usually find the most contentment possible in our relationships and environments. Unconditional love is a great thing to possess, but not something everyone possesses. I love the Philippines and Palermo unconditionally. I know how to focus on all of the good people and things while ignoring the rest. ❤

I went to Palermo 15 years ago and it was perfectly fine but frankly, in my opinion, you want to wander outside the big Sicilian cities. Some of the greatest countryside I've ever seen.

L' ho sentita una città vicina alla mia personalità! Semplice, distratta e trascurata ma allo stesso tempo bella anche per questo e con una bellezza di diversi tipi: vivace e elegante allo stesso tempo. Piena di vita. Colori,arte,storia. I contrasti che ha, il cibo...Non l' ho sentita una città mediterranea,l' ho vista come una metropoli, con tante sfaccettature..quanto mi è piaciuta....

We are going first two weeks in October to Sicily for 2 weeks. All the stays are arranged - flying into Palermo and renting a car. 3 nights Scopello, 2 nights Cefalu, 4 nights Lipari, 2 nights Taormina, 3 nights Ortigia. Flying out of Catania. We plan to rent a car for the first few days because we will take a day trip to Villafrati where my grandparents were from - so we will need the car to get there. They immigrated to the US in the early 1900’s. I want to see the town. What are your suggestions for where to turn the car in? We are thinking of Cefalu or Milazzo. We won’t need a car while in Cefalu, but have to get to the ferry in Milazzo. Would it be better to take a car service/taxi and not hassle with the driving? And when we go from Milazzo to Taormina, and Taormina to Ortigia? We plan to take private car service for Ortigia to CAT. Any advice on a reputable car rental? Many thanks!

It will be mid November of this year for a few days. It looks like it is just outside the Politeama Liberta. Is this street OK and what do you know about this hotel? I really appreciate your advice.

So excited to come to Mondello! We are staying up in the mountains with a shuttle to palermo and a rented car. My question is, the dates we are going are September 26th til October 3rd, will we be able to go to restaurants and bars in Mondello around this time?

I remember when i went to my dads village and visited my family,the men wearing capris and having those hokey close shaved beards, some even had pocketbooks .....no, im Sicilian,but im an American, i cannot dress effeminately, for hot weather, a tank top, relatively thin pants, low sox and breathable sneakers were fine...mind you, it does get very cold at night, or at least seems so after sun and 95 degree heat all day from 9am onwards...always have a good jacket ready at night...my leather jacket was unsuitable as it stopped the wind, but had no thermal protection. It gets very windy and cold in sicily at night , especially with the mountain top villages
