    We picked grapes on thé slopes of Etna and met some fabulous people who bred Sicilian Indigenous Dogs ….Truly beautiful animals

Cornetti are like croissants but softer and fresher, often filled with different options like custard, honey, jam, pistachio cream, or chocolate. You’ll also find variations like whole-wheat versions, pan brioche filled with ricotta or cream, and puff pastries.
      For those who prefer savory, there are pieces of Palermitan rosticceria-basically savory pastries filled with ingredients like cheese or ham. These are great if you’re in the mood for something more substantial but still local.
      At home, a Sicilian breakfast tends to be lighter: milk, yogurt, cereal, or cookies. And unlike in the U.S., where breakfast is seen as a big meal, here it’s usually a quick, light start to the day. If you’re looking for eggs and bacon, that’s rare in traditional Sicilian spots, although trends are slowly changing.
      And just a heads-up about gelato: the best gelaterias in Palermo usually open later, closer to lunchtime, because locals don’t typically have gelato in the morning. In some tourist areas, you’ll see it offered early, but it’s more for visitors. So if you’re exploring Palermo in the morning, stick to the cornetti or rosticceria for a real taste of what locals enjoy

    We followed Nico’s advice and loved Palermo ….. then went to dirty filthy Catania …where the local have a bad attitude …we will definitely be back to Palermo and skip Catania

      Exactly! That's the number one tip I give to everyone, and I try to follow it myself whenever I travel. The less you look like a tourist, the better!
