I have a cb400sf vtec2 and I had a problem with the ECU, I went to mechanic and he did the same process which you are doing, the bike runs fine but the problem is that the VTEC is not working anymore. Any thoughts????
im pretty sure he bypassed it cause this is a very simple fix. what year is the bike?

@@kylescreations4724 I think it is reassembled from different models, but the previous owner said it is 2008 model. I can show you what you want to see.
So if my stator is a dud along with the trigger I can hook up 12 volts to it and it will run
no you always need the trigger its what tells the cdi to fire
Interesting I'm building a single speed Chinese Honda 70 z50 frame Honda 50... ... It's giving me a little trouble but I need to build a wiring harness. My GY6 50cc scooter a few years back I ordered a hot CDI with a little red light and a three-prong spark plug and another coil and that thing will run about 50 the engine is stock except for the exhaust
the gy6 cdi have a little more advance built into them which on the smaller cc engines can be hard to start i would just use a 125cc pitbike harness and cdi setup if you need electric start then the atv version

Nice video. Tip: you mentioned the meter is not accurate during dynamic testing. The reason is, a stand alone dvom will not accurately read peak voltage. You would need a peak voltage adapter or test equipment designed to read peak voltage. Static or resistance testing will also provide faulty or inaccurate results. Hope this post helps others. Good that you have power there bit you need the eci/cdi to give the signal that gives the pulse to the coils. Which basically makes or breaks ground to the coils. Which causes spark
ive to a 200c and i replaced the stator and now there just lose wires( from the factory they dont in connector but i have it) what configuration do i plug them in to?

Im finishing up my 20hp vtwin outlaw kart tomorrow (thought id have it done todsy but rsn out if hardware 😢) but ill have it done tomorrow after i go by home Depot in the morning and then im starting my Indy car kart next ... Ive a kazuma 150cc mud buggy , a tomberline crosscart 150 and my 656cc outlaw kart that im finishing up tomorrow and then its going to be the indykart next ... You have some nice projects. I’m in Arizona. Already sold it but there are some companies still producing them and you can get all kinds of body styles. These were promotional karts that were given away at races. But I’m always down to bs if you want to message or talk on the phone always down to talk shop

Yes the 450 is a lost spark system which means both cylinders fire same time no matter where piston is so you just need one dc cdi. It will run

The plug or pigtail has 5 wires. I showed how both ac and dc could work. But dc definitely had 4 pins
Hi. Great video! I have a DC CDI I can hear it buzz when I turn the key. I have spark, compression and fuel. I can also turn motor kill switch on and off to hear the CDI buzz. That tells me the kill switch is good. She just won't start. Do you think my coil is weak? I can see my spark. Gapped correct. Juicy fuel on the plug. Purge the cylinder to make sure it's not flooding put the plug in after I wipe it dry still does not want to start two days working on this thing I cleaned my carburetor I have excellent fuel flow. Do you think there's a possibility that I have an air bubble in my fuel line maybe I should open my gas cap while I'm initially filling the carburetor? Thanks in advance.
Hey. Sounds like good fuel flow. Wet plug. Double check compression with guage some engines sound like there ok but not. Anything over 90 should start. Check timing. Could have jumped time. Change plug just to be sure sometimes they can spark outside engine but not bolted in. Long conversation why. Large vacuum leaks. And last is a stuck decompression mechanism which usually if you crank engine put hand over exhaust if it sucks in at all I would look at that. Good luck questions let me know thx

Just use the stator and the electrical off the next year newer, off the newer year bikes, Also if the stators is bad, how are you gonna keep your battery charged,
There will probably be issues with using different year stators and flywheels. And for the stator being bad there are two parts to a stator one that charges battery and the other on an ac cdi system that powers the cdi. A lot of times that’s just the part that goes so it will still charge battery just not fire the bike

Would you prefer steel toes in 115. Degree heat. I have built more bikes and dirt track cars in sandals then you ever will. During the winter I wear boots or shoes or if I’m welding. But thanks for the input bitch

My buddy got the bike for fixing a car. 275$ in materials. So it was a steal of a deal but she was messed up. Had been put down. We brought her back. Still lots to fix

Yes all you need is a pulse generator and battery with the dc cdi

@@kylescreations4724 I figured it out. I didn't know if the pick up coil should be grounded on one side and the cdi going to the other with a 4 wire DC cdi. It works with one side to ground. Thanks for making these videos!
@kylescreations4724 Great Video! People can learn a lot from this. A diagram or just showing the wires on the bike could help people who are not very educated in this area. I get all of it but i have been learning for a few days. Anyone at my intermediate level would be fine. New comers might benefit from an example of showing the wires and parts on the bike. Only a suggestion, amazing information!

I would start with the pulse generator that signals for 2/3. Then suspect the coil. But if everything checks out. Will need a meter and a manual for specs. Then it’s the cdi/ecu

My 1956 730-20 looks just like yours. The motor is under the seat, just one belt straight back to the gearbox, no jackshaft. The box is full of 2 large 12V batteries.
I’m sure mine had battery powered as well but a lot of hands been in there before me
Hello again, it’s a 87 Yamaha moto4 350 4x2 single cylinder. But it has 2 pulse coils in stator housing. I’ve been told one is for reverse, that doesn’t make sense to me, and someone said the second is for spark advance. Not sure how to hook it up. Can you specify?
To my knowledge all spark advance is done either mechanical or through the cdi ore ecu. The reverse also would be through the cdi and set a rev limit. Check for second cdi just for reverse maybe that’s where the second pulser goes. Honda used a cdi just for reverse for a while. I know more about Hondas from that era than Yamaha but two pulser on single cylinder doesn’t make sense the factory timing set by flywheel it’s the cdi job to advance or retard spark timing. Get the wire diagram see where it goes
What if you have an old Yamaha with TWO pulse coils? Do you tie both signal wires to the blue/white to a DC cdi?
If it has two pulse coils the you need two dc cdi. If it’s a four cylinder 1 and 4 fire at the same time and cylinder 2 and 3. So you need two cdi and coil for each pulse coil

Excellent video, gonna do the 4 pin dc cdi setup on a 87 moto4 350. Just have to figure out which wire is my pulse wire from bike. Unclear in manual.

there are two black 6 pin connectors right where the battery is make sure those plugs havent been switched around

Kyle I would like to send you a picture I took of where the exhaust pipe go's into the head of the engine on a ATV 125 - F 20014.08 if you look at the picture I would like to send you , maybe you can tell me if this is normal or not ?? Is a piece broken here ? or is this the way it should be ? I did not take this exhaust pipe off the head , so I have not idea if this is the way it should look or not ??? I am wondering if ordering a new exhaust system, and by the way they do not come with the Calif crap air pipe on them. I am wondering if when the pipe go's into the head and bolted down if this takes care now going into the head the pipe that is it cover up that part that looks like it is missing ? and it is just the way they made the hole that way or is this broken ???
