I had to treat my addiction the same way a sick person would treat their disease...through treatment. My treatment consisted of medical detox...

Understanding Higher Power In Alcoholics Anonymous
Просмотров 14 тыс.4 года назад
Let me explain my concept of higher power for my addiction recovery. 12 Step recovery programs require a spiritual connection to a power greater than yourself. This video explains my interpretation. I asked myself if I can do AA (Alcoholics Anonymous) without god or without believing in god or without believing in a higher power. Through working the 12 steps I came to believe in a higher power....
Great short film
Wasted 2 min to listen
Uses the big book clear cut directions on how to precisely get recovered from alcoholism then went on a forgiveness twist and rant..background music was awful...lol, good luck and God bless
Today is my first AA metting Its Nice experienced. .....
Sounds like me
I’m a year sober and all of a sudden had this existential crisis that I didn’t have a “specific” higher power and I needed to find something to pray to. Listening to your explanation gave me clarity that me simply letting go of my control and faith in the universe is a higher power. Thank you so much.
Best explanation of the steps I’ve ever heard. Thank you so much
I’m 24hrs sober
Bill Wilson the founder of the AA cult requested whiskey on his deathbed and that is in his medical notes. He was a charlatan who made a lot of money from his lies. Don't be duped by this 12 Step tripe folks. If alcohol is having a detrimental effect on you and others just stop drinking, there is no excuse for you to continue because you are not "powerless" it's one of the many AA lies.
Where are you today? I’d like to chat. Please contact me. 😊 Amazing content, I appreciate this
God grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change couage to change the things I can and the wisdom to know the differnce. Its up to the indvidual. AA kept me sober through the 90's but post 2000 I started again it took a stroke from the bad health asspects of drinking to eventually quit. Living with disability kinda stopped me from getting my hands on more liquor. Go figure. Wished I just stayed with it and carried on with meetings every night. AA is good but the individual still decides how to use it. alcholism is complicated. But .here is always hope.
What is so sad is that, the people who drink regularly and don’t think they have a problem are the unlucky ones. The poison is so embedded, so normalised that the mainstay of society views people who choose to not drink as a bit weird. yes, drunkenness is very harmful both spiritually and for your physical health! The Bible consistently warns against the dangers of drunkenness and its negative consequences. this is because your mind is easier to manipulate and influence when it is weakened by drugs or alcohol. alcohol makes you more susceptible to temptation and demonic influences. When people are drunk, they can sin by engaging in behaviors they wouldn't normally do when sober such as: engaging in reckless or dangerous activities, saying hurtful things to others, Increased aggression, conflict, accidents, falls, engaging in inappropriate sexual behavior, stealing, making bad decisions, fighting, or neglecting their responsibilities, Etc. all due to the impaired judgment and lack of self-control caused by intoxication. and this is dishonoring to God and can cause separation from God. Scripture teaches, "But your iniquities have separated between you and your God, and your sins have hid His face from you, that He will not hear." (Isaiah 59:1-2). Alcohol is also a health risk that can affect people of all ages. Regardless of the amount, It can lead to Major organ damage including the brain. Liver disease, Heart disease, High blood pressure, Stroke, Weakened immune system, mental health, Etc. Alcohol can even lead to death. There's no safe drinking level. Even moderate drinking increases health risks compared to not drinking at all. Neglecting one's body, Paul says, is a sin of defiling what is holy, and God will punish for it. We are also commanded to not allow our bodies to be “mastered” by anything. But we are to honor God with our bodies. It is drunkenness and addiction to alcohol or anything else that a Christian must absolutely refrain from Ephesians 5:15-21 "See then that ye walk circumspectly, not as fools, but as wise, Redeeming the time, because the days are evil. Wherefore be ye not unwise, but understanding what the will of the Lord is. And be not drunk with wine, wherein is excess; but be filled with the Spirit; Speaking to yourselves in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord; Giving thanks always for all things unto God and the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ; Submitting yourselves one to another in the fear of God."
Been sober for 2 days n I already feel the difference 2 days down the rest of my life to go ❤🎉

I love A.A. & This message you brought forth
Could do without the background music; too loud.
Great video there are too many negative ideas about A.A. and this was a great overview of a meeting.Well done and thank you as I know this video will help others.Keep coming back 💜
What Islam says about alcohol? Allah says (interpretation of the meaning): “O you who believe! Intoxicants (all kinds of alcoholic drinks), and gambling, and Al-Ansab, and Al-Azlam (arrows for seeking luck or decision) are an abomination of Shaytan’s (Satan’s) handiwork. So avoid (strictly all) that (abomination) in order that you may be successful.” [Qur’ān 5:90]
Jesus Christ is what worked for me I went to AA multiple times but nothing worked only God worked for me been sober for 3 years now
This is awesome. Thank you.
2way prayer
There is np AA without God. Everything else is for the GSO to make money.
Yes it works but if you dont play by the rules you are left out in the cold..... Quite harsh for addicts/alcohols.
Do none of you realize how cultish this all sounds? To say that the ineffectiveness of your program is just further proof that it works? You know 12-stepping is not and has never been the only gig in town, right? I once took extreme umbrage with a woman who claimed AA was, contrary to how it advertises and presents itself, a religious - perhaps even a Christian - organization. Even she told me when confronted on the matter that AA is not the only way to get sober, and that perhaps I should seek other methods in conjunction with her own cherished method. You’re never going to win over the skeptic if your only rebuttal is “the program is perfect, therefore the problem must be you”. That’s not a spiritual program; that’s a religion, and we have quite enough of those already, thank you.
Music far too loud. Had to stop watching. Ruined it
What if we didn’t knowingly do anything wrong and they snapped? And never apologized. I always apologize.
Judicial co-op. I have been a member of AA since before the Judiciary co-opted it as a punishment for alcohol related offenses. I was here when more and more offenders began to be “sentenced to AA”. I have seen and experienced the devastating effect upon the fellowship. An effect directly attributable to the influx of criminals, adjudicated with threat of jail, to attend meetings against their free will and desire. I have witnessed the death of AA as it was when i arrived. I have stood on the ash heap of AA searching for familiarity only to find risen up in its place a fellowship I do not recognize nor relate. I found in AA a solution and of my own free will joined with a desire to get and stay sober. Long before it became a punishment for criminals and became as any other corrections system; dysfunctional, ineffective; yielding an incredible recidivism. AA was the most successful program of recovery for anyone with a basic desire to stop drinking. Today it is barely more than a repository for criminal networking, utilized by those, who in the past, would simply be caught, jailed, tried, sentenced, incarcerated and released back into society without being funneled into and through this once thriving, hope filled fellowship. I liken it to that part of town with a rich and storied past that is no longer a safe place to go at night let alone in the day time. Where even the long time residents lock their doors and keep to themselves...
This is all nonsence, propaganda....
Good job!
The first 100 and the 75% recovery rate is all religious mythology…. but I guess you were going to get around to that detail…. Actually the early recovery rates were “ rigged “ with help of the founders themselves- gotta know your history. There is no such thing as a disease that is one third “ spiritual “
Nobody gives a shit
Because people think that they are the problem when really the first drink is the problem .
I’ve been in AA for two years. I’ve had 8 months up, then 6 months up, then some broken sobriety. I’m back at day 8. I haven’t been able to find a sponsar willing to help go through the steps, but I know the program works. I’m finally living, searching, and connecting. I put my trust in God. Thank you for your service 🙏
Yeah I couldn't find a sponsor either later I realized most in those meetings hadn't worked the steps they can give what they don't have
Can't
I’ll be five years sober on the 24th. Didn’t do AA. I’ve found what helped me is learning to hate alcohol. So many people I know in sobriety still love alcohol, they still wish they could drink. You’ve got to get this idea out of your head. I have to learn to hate everything about it. You have to learn to hate everything about it. As long as you look back fondly to your drinking days you will still crave it. I hate those days. I don’t remember the good times, I remember them for what they were.
Sober and a member of AA since 9/19/91. Because of a sponsor who believed in, and guided me through the 12 steps and a forgiving and almighty Creator God!
The opening scene made no sense why did you make this ????
I wish I could mute the music
I’m an alcoholic and a drug addict, I’m now 55 years old, and from the time I began to know myself I’ve been drinking, It was three years ago almost that somehow I had the longest sobriety in my adult life, with the help of meetings and 12 steps and a great counselor, but I want to stress that you must be very very picky to choose a sponser, ‘cos he or she must be available to answer you 24 hours especially in the early months when you’re quite vulnerable to relapse, another thing is that your sponsor mustn’t know your family, only you must have his number period. This is a matter of life or death, it’s not a joke, so from my personal experience safeguard your privacy and don’t let your family decide for you, ‘cos they don’t have a clue what you’re going through, get help from an expert who you can totally trust in, be safe and God bless all of you
For me a sponsor was there to walk me through the steps and listen to me when I'm struggling with something...someone to talk to...a friend. I don't talk to her everyday nor do I think she knows what's best for me. I go to God and then self reflect. I agree with you that we don't have to do recovery with a sponsor to stay sober. Our recovery is up to us.
Damn. I Went to school with you and i know that for a fact cause you got a sister, younger brother and i think you had like 3-4 cousins in that little s**t hole of a town too. Good to hear you got your s**t together, brother.
Thank you for sharing your story. I’m sober for 5 days now and I really hope I can make it like you did
Another sponsor I had told me to take off my sunglasses when I walked in the aa meeting. Another one told me not to use the bath room during the meeting as it looks bad me getting up. They didn’t last long 😂
Amen
My first sponsor dropped me in 2 days. I had to call him between 7am to 7:05am. No sooner or later. I was in a hotel room with two escorts and all of us on cocaine. Come 7am I said to them I’m making the call. Please stay completely quiet. Obviously they couldn’t and started talking really loud. Sponsor asked who are they. Was quite funny though
I think the 5% is a ridiculous number. I don’t believe it for a second maybe 50%.
What a video. yay for you. Thank you for telling it in simple language and in a way that can be understood.
The music is distracting
What's the name of that movie with Danzel Washington? Thx for anybody who will answer
it kind of annoys me that the first thing that popped up on youtube under aa sponsorship is someone berating sponsors. Its as simple as this. The sponsor carries the message not the alcoholic. You go through all 12 steps, stay sober, hopefully find a higher power and carry on the message yourself.
Should've been the AA batteries meeting
