Join me as I fiddle with, ride, maintain and modify Honda's Monkey 125!
Sunday Honda Monkey ride along - No talking, just riding.
Spoiler alert: Nothing amazing happens.
Just a Sunday ride-along on British country lanes to Burton.
Starting in Melbourne (Derbyshire) going to Staunton Harold reservoir, Ticknall, Foremark reservoir, Milton, Repton, Newton Solney, then into Burton upon Trent.
Next time I'm going to get a mic set up so I can chat and avoid wind noise.
Camera: Sony HDR-AS30v.
Note: My Speedo reads aprox 35 mph at 30 due to the 14t sprocket.

EDIT: I realise now that the rear part of the seat doesn't hook under the rear bar, there's a 500 steel bar between the flat bits that the rubbers rest on that it hooks under.

Very little needed, you'll need a 12mm socket, socket extension, and a 5mm Allen key. Note: you don't actually HAVE to remove the plastic end cap at all.

Hi Im looking for lower handlebars like in this video, ideally in black as im de chroming my monkey bike. No idea on spec and sizes. Would like a slight narrower bars too as a tight fit where I need to put it away. Any idea's?
May I ask how much of a real world difference the smaller sprocket makes?
Just road mine up the California coast today. So damn rewarding. Last bike was a Harley Road King. 56 bikes later this is my most enjoyable ride ever.

I'm not familiar with this particular Honda engine. But I have worked on a few other Hondas. I am willing to bet that removing the entire side cover is not necessary. Instead, just the small circular one with three screws. To stop the spinner from turning while extracting the screws on the spinner, just put it in gear. Other than that, I agree with the auther.
Nope, the side cover is completely solid. They have put a proper filter in the 2022 model.
I didn't see him take the coin out before reassembly.

Yes its the same engine, though access to it will be different

Nope, zero storage space (unless you have a non-ABS model, then there's a bit of space where the ABS pump fits)
New Monkey owner just wish my Hennessey 650 Camaro was so easy to do maintenance, Lol.
Is it safe to ride the monkey on long rides (50 miles or longer) with the RPM's so high? Do you think that will damage the motor? I had the 14t sprocket on a long ride recently and I hated hearing that thing scream the whole way. I liked having the 4th gear (overdrive) in the original sprocket. Should I put the original back on?
It's fine, just don't sit with it absolutely topped out, screaming. However its not a pleasant ride at high speeds to be honest.

does the check engine light come on after the upgrade?
No. If anything some people have reported the ABS light coming on but ive not had that issue.

Did Dudley Moore have a son that I wasn’t aware of? Is it just me or is this man honestly one of the most funny people on RUclips? Maybe it’s because I’m watching this at 1am but seriously, I could not get through this without practically waking the neighbors with my laughter. And I don’t drink or use any drugs. I loved this guy and have got to say Hollywood is missing out on someone special here. I’m going to watch this video again now.

What an awful way to change engine oil! I can't believe Honda did that. I imagine a lot of people will just drain and replace the oil 50% of the time!
On my Honda Innova, which is basicly same engine, you first have to do it by 7500 miles (12 K). First time there was quite a lot of debree(?), I just did it again by 27 K, a lot less, so I think I will wait longer until the next cleaning of the inner filters. I do, however, change the oil according to the service schedual (2500 miles /4 K) or sooner. And that was the Honda ANF 125 Innova.

What’s your thoughts on the bike ie how comfortable is it what’s its comfortable cruising speed could you do a long journey on it ?
the seat is very comfy, but thats where comfort stops.. its quite buzzy ay top speed, not one for cruising.
I would love to see how you relocated the horn and more about the little camera you got installed - love it!

Hi, nice bike. With the 14t sprocket, the speed indication will be too high, at least with my Grom. :) Did you install a speedohealer or anything similar?
It is, reads about 35 at 30. Nah, I just keep an eye on it.

Thank you for your video. The 14T makes the bike a little slower i guess. Is there a 13T or 12T that would lower the speed of the bike even more as im 60yo and feels this Monkey is very fast for me.
Im sure you can get smaller yes, will help acceleration but lower top speed.
