Hi! I am an aspiring extreme metal drummer based in Stockholm, Sweden.
I used to play the guitar, both metal and classical, but completely changed paths when I turned 30 in 2015 -- I started playing the drums! I created a blog to chronicle my drumming career, with the tagline "from 0 to 240 bpm", with the URL gettinguptospeed.net/. Over the years I've abandoned written content in favor of videos, so the blog is not updated any more. Maybe I'll do something with it in the future, but this RUclips channel is where I'm at. But keep in mind, if you see the acronym "GUTS" in the nooks and crannies of my channel, that's what it stands for: Getting Up To Speed.
I've always wanted to play covers of the songs I love, so that is the main purpose of this channel. But every now and again, I might come in with exercises or other tidbits.

The Ritual Aura - Time-Lost Utopia (drum cover) | Sebastian Lundström
New tom heads! New bass drum head! New pedal springs! New pedal settings! New me! (Well, maybe not that last one, but just back from vacation anyway…)
This album, and especially this song, really made a mark on me when it came out. Covering it feels astonishing. I miss spots here and there, but I think I’ve delivered most of the song’s essence and energy!
Challenges:
- Weird tempo switches mid-riff (!).
- Crazy arrangement. I had to do a lot of counting to try to figure this one out, and some parts I still haven’t figured out fully.
- 250 bpm is no walk in the park, but I’ve been practicing on a pad lately, and I feel that my blasts are getting better.

This was hard, and the rest of the song will have to wait. But this final part is so massive that i had to give it a try, and there's probably no better way to end an album. The trickiest part was for sure the traditional blasts where the left hand tries to kill everything in sight while the right one has coffee.

It's just the sound from the main GoPro (not the one on the feet)! Plus OnTrigger triggers that I record on my laptop using GarageBand. I guess I should put this in the description!
@@SebastianLundstrom thx 🙏 Two more questions) 1)How you add metronome in track, when track have floating tempo? 2) You use trigger interface for your triggers?
1) In GarageBand you can show the metronome as a separate track, and split it into separate pieces with different tempos. 2) Yes, added some more info to the description of the video!

This is probably my fav deathcore band after listening to that album. It sounded just amazing, Two thrones was the hitter for me cuz of it's atmosphere. Such an amazing drum cover, loads of talent, keep it up :)

Thank you! I have high hopes for 2024. For this song (and many others) I used ProMark's 5BN, but I've just recently been trying out their "Forward" line. Can't remember the exact model.

That's correct! The audio comes from two sources only: the top camera and the bass drum triggers.

@juliuskossler9925 I see! I've always been curious about doubles but never really practiced them. I've focused on singles and have recently gotten to a decent state, I think! I just released another video at 260 bpm, so I'm hoping that I won't need doubles for a while. :)
