Solder Reflow Oven Build Review (Digikey Version) & Improvements!!
My experience of the build of the Digikey Byte Size Engineer Reflow Oven here: ruclips.net/video/asZ1zhef8Ss/видео.html with improvements and updated code.
Originally, already a great build with a nice implementation of a PID controller with a nice touch interface, I just added where I could to make things faster and more reliable. I added a capacitive touch with a faster UI (courtesy of the TFT eSPI library), a heat sink to deal with the power dissipated by the solid state relay, a fix for the thermal switch in the toaster oven, and more.
You can find my code and Fusion 360 and stl files for the case here: github.com/aBoyCanDream/Solder-Reflow-Oven.

    I have the same noctua fan but I bought the 120mm to replace a fan inside a fume extractor. My problem is the fan doesn’t work hooked up directly to the 12v power supply like you did, any suggestions? Thanks btw nice vid

    • @a_boy_can_dream
      @a_boy_can_dream 13 дней назад

      Hmm… I’d check if you’re actually getting 12V from the connectors coming out of the fume extractor. Some aren’t actually built for 12V PC fans. Then I’d just try powering the fan with your own 12V source so you’re sure it’s working properly.

    • @Qogicx
      @Qogicx 13 дней назад

      @ I’ve checked it I also connect the fan to my bench power supply same thing no spin, but when I connect it to a pwm fan controller it does work but then it stop

    • @a_boy_can_dream
      @a_boy_can_dream 13 дней назад

      I think the fan is probably bad then. If you just bought it, you should return it. Connecting V+ and GND only to a 3-pin or 4-pin fan should just have it run at full speed with no PWM signal

    • @a_boy_can_dream
      @a_boy_can_dream 3 месяца назад

      I saw another youtube vid where they said 1kw was enough if you stuck with the smaller ovens. I’m not doing any insanely big boards so the size is perfect for me. And it heats quickly and perfectly as well. It can ramp to 250C in about 3 mins at full power. With the profiles this is more than enough. 2.4KW is 20 A in America so would need a special outlet. If you’re at 220V you’re fine. Guess it’s just a question of size and how much you want to spend.

    Very interesting. You faced every question I was asking myself XD Regarding the reassembling, I wonder about just glueing the white back cover on its perimeter. Maybe the plastic is hard enough to maintain the whole surface. Maybe glueing plastic on metal would keep it kind of openable on the future. Not very clean but... If I manage to disassemble it in the first place, I may try it.

    When cleaning with a toothbrush, I tore off a piece of the rubber part that I believe was the membrane. Can this be fixed or can I throw it away?

    • @a_boy_can_dream
      @a_boy_can_dream 4 месяца назад

      If it’s only the rubber part it could be ok. That just acts like a spring and pushes the key up. If it tore in half that could be bad. But if it tore around the edge and is still a little attached, I say just try to put the key back on and see if it pushes down and returns up ok. If the membrane piece came out completely but is not torn in the middle, try laying it back in the hole and putting the key back and see if it works.

    Tohnichi makes the best torque wrenches. Wish they were more available in the states. You said 5nm is the spec you are using most. I would not recommend expecting any torque to be highly accurate at the lowest end of it's spec.

    Good video. Thanks for posting and sharing the code. I am yet to go through it completely, but I am confident that it will be very beneficial for my needs. I discovered Mo_Thunderz videos before I discovered yours and found them to be very helpful too. Something that I thought that I would share for the benefit of your viewers and others is that when I combined ESP Now library with Neil Kolban's BLE library on a sketch, the ESP32 lacked the necessary memory to handle the code. Then I discovered (just today) by way of a discussion board another library that is a modification of Neil's and it is not as heavy on the data - it is <NimBLEDevice.h> - and it meets my needs. So happy days in that regard. Most people interested in BLE with ESP32 probably have no need for ESP NOW. But, for me, if I can provide my customers with the option of having a remote fob utilising ESP NOW comms and/or BLE via a smartphone app to control an automatic gateopener that uses an ESP32 in the controller, then I am a happy man. Now I need to develop the smartphone app that my customers can use to control their gates - the videos that Mo_Thunderz has provided in that regard - as you rightly point out are good, but also have their limitations. But yours I am confident will hit the spot. So please keep dreamin' and thank you for allowing me to stand on your shoulders.

    I have this same keyboard on my 2013 iMac. Lately it's been randomly losing its bluetooth connection, then either reconnecting by itself or sometimes I have to hit the power button. Batteries are confirmed good. Maybe it's powering itself off, then comes back on OR it's just losing connection which it's just a few feet from its dongle which is plugged into an Amazon Basics USB hub. Everything else plugged into the hub works. I have sprayed contact cleaner (w/o residue) into the battery tunnel but have not taken it apart yet. Any suggestions (besides get a new keybd and lose weight and get a life : )

    • @a_boy_can_dream
      @a_boy_can_dream 6 месяцев назад

      That ‘lose weight’ bit made me laugh. Don’t we all? Is that a bluetooth USB dongle? That could be one thing. But mine disconnects/sleeps a lot too. It didn’t do that when new (I think). But it could be a macOS thing. Google: “macos disconnects bluetooth often” and you’ll see lots of posts. Can’t say for sure what the issue is though.
