C# bass Carnatic Flute - played in Hindustani style by Shashank Subramanyam
This video clip features a large bass bamboo flute meant for playing Carnatic music, but the melody presented here is of Hindustani style, played expertly by flute virtuoso Shashank Subramaniam. The tonic Sa is taken at the standard Carnatic position of two fingers down. This flute is made employing my hole-tunneling™ technique, which makes the 7th and other holes relatively quite easy to finger. This super easy to play bass flute also sports Neo-bansuri™ lip-plate, which boosts the volume and lends a thicker, darker tone to the sound.
Many thanks to Shashank Subramanyam for making this video for me.

G Sahaj Shankh : Super Easy to Play Shankh Bansuri Demo
Просмотров 516Месяц назад
Sahaj = effortless or easy: Shankh = Conch Shankh or Super bass bansuris are really huge flutes - almost too huge for average human hands. Called Shankh because of their conch like deep reverberant sound. Any bansuri larger than B bass is usually called Shankh Bansuri. Incredibly hard to play because of the large spread of holes and the large amount of air required to sustain sound. To negotiat...
Super Easy to Play Super Bass Carnatic Bamboo Flutes : A brief demo by Shashank Subramanyam
Просмотров 6 тыс.2 года назад
Traditionally, south Indian Carnatic music is played on small flutes - as the intricacy of various gamakas and other ornamentations inherent to this genre, make it a sine-qua-non that the flute’s 7th hole be fingered extensively and in large bass flutes it would be all but impossible to reach the 7th hole which isplayed with pinkie finger. This video features large bass bamboo flutes for playin...

Playing of difficult to finger scales like Bhairavi, Darbari, Charukeshi, Bairagi, Kafi etc. is rendered quite straight forward and easy - without the need of any partial closing of holes. Komal Bansuri can be easily adapted to play musical styles like Jazz and Blues also. An original creation by Anubodh. For more...

How to purchase the flutes?
How to contact you for bansuri purchase
These are 6 hole flute as that of hindusthani flute. Carnatic flutes have 8 holes. So what is different in these flutes?
Carnatic has atleast 10 types of gamaks and faster paced. To replicate the human voice with it's intricacies needs fast and precise finger movements with minimal movement. 8 holes makes it more stable to hold and transition to other notes easier. Just like how u have a Pancham hole for easier transitions, we have an 8th pinky hole which makes transitions and note transitions easier and more precise.
Its important milestone in flute world
