    My yard is awful. Full of weeds & that’s it. It’s green. Anyway, finally starting a butterfly garden & tilled up an area about 20’x 15’. While preparing for seeds (‘cause I’m on a tight budget) a big butterfly came over about 3 times checking me out. My omen.!

    • @SunshineandHappinest
      @SunshineandHappinest 6 дней назад

      That is awesome! Definitely just do a little at a time, and you may be able to snag some plants or seeds on clearance at the end of the growing season! I built up our flower beds little by little over the years, it takes time, but the end result is worth it!🥰

    I love okra, we also grow one previously. Need to make sure to pick at the right time or else its too fibrous to eat.

    • @SunshineandHappinest
      @SunshineandHappinest 9 дней назад

      That is definitely the tricky part! I tried to fry those fibrous ones before, no amount of frying makes them delicious!😆😅

    This is a never ending battle in my garden. How do you prevent skin irritation without gloves? I'm so sensitive to the plant

    • @SunshineandHappinest
      @SunshineandHappinest 14 дней назад

      Same! How do they always manage to hide until they are so big?!🤦😆 I grow a spineless variety & I tried a different variety, this year, as well (but I totally forget which one 🤦), even so, they still have some prickly parts, usually it is so mild it doesn't bother me, if I am careful how & wear I handle it. However, I was more careless earlier today, and a few got me in the knuckles. They were itchy for awhile!😆

  • @nicolep3347
    @nicolep3347 17 дней назад

    Idk what zone you are in and/or what variety you grow but there is no way I could let mine go that long before harvesting until it hits fall when growth sllows down.

      I was definitely pushing the boundaries with the 9 day one, but they were still tender. Day 4 - 8 was a perfect range for me, this time of year - Zone 6b, BUT it has also been SUPER dry this year!

    Not a planter but w/ my hanging plant. I have a log about 2’ long rotted out in the middle & one end. My husband surprised me standing it on the one good end & put a gnome inside the rotted center & pulled my hanging plant vines into the open end next to the gnome. I’m going to buy fairy lights. I’ve seen sane type log w/ it placed horizontally & rotten area for bird feed.

    Beautifully designed & executed. Pretty birdhouses are a favorite of mine. They are all over the yard on any posts or poles & trees. I want some solar lights too but that’ll be on the waiting list. Your home is a nice loving family home.

    WOW ❤❤ This looks s a beautifully defined area. The rock pathway outside the raised bed & the trelliss is perfect. What s remarkable yard you have in store ch a short time. I’m binge watching your outside garden videos. The family times of this is refreshing. What zone are you?

    • @SunshineandHappinest

      Thank you! We have been working hard off and on for years! We have some big outdoor projects coming up (like building a greenhouse & more flowerbeds etc.), hopefully the next warm season? This year we were sticking to some smaller projects while recovering from downsizings my grandmother & while working on building up our channel with more short form garden videos. We are zone 6ish😅

    Love this makeover & you could make great trellises using bamboo or willow. It’s all over RUclips. Also an arbor of cattle panels is easy & ch so & would be a pretty entrance to your walkway.

    Hi, I'm not sure if you are a professional or not (you very well may be). I'm just letting you know that it's very important to make sure that your milk thistle is the kind that dies off around autumn/fall. The kind that lives all year confuses monarch butterflies because it's the only kind of plant they live on, but they don't know to migrate to warmer climates because the food doesn't run out. I'm no expert either, just sharing the knowledge I do have in case you're not aware. Enjoy your butterflies! 😊

    • @SunshineandHappinest
      @SunshineandHappinest 3 месяца назад

      Thank you @alanasmith2788 ! I recently just learned this about "tropical milkweed," as well! Thank you so much for sharing for others, too! Fortunately, I didn't buy this milkweed at a nursery. I have two types of native milkweed, shared from both a neighbor & mother nature spreading it & both types only last the season. 🥰
