I am releasing a classic episode which was recorded when the podcast was called The Mystic Discoveries. The topic of the 12 year old change and parenting/teaching through the teen years is so important I decided its time to re-release it. I went through and edited it a it to remove some of my ‘ums’ and ‘ahs’, so it’s a more flowy listening experience.

    Ha phoenix sounds like my kiddo, and they're bout the same age! I felt I knew all this inside but didnt always manage it or feel I had the resources... so lovely wish I would've watched you then! we did a few of these things back then and I always tried to be the example and let him follow but must admit I sometimes felt frustrated...such an emotional lesson, so beautiful and so perfect too. To other mommas dont stress go with the flow and enjoy!!

    Thank you for this video, it really helped me. I’m a Mom of 5 (ages 10-27) and having so many children is both wonderful but also very physically and emotionally demanding at times. They are our greatest teachers but it can be so challenging to balance spiritual growth with the daily demands of life. Then add a spouse and pets on top, sometimes it’s overwhelming. It’s nice to know I’m not alone on this path because it seems so many “gurus” are male and childless which tbh seems a heck of a lot easier! If they only knew the difficulties inherently present in being “spiritual” while raising young babies, or developmentally delayed children, or teenagers, or even adult children who still have emotional needs. It’s such a blessing but phew! God bless you and all of the mothers out there ❤

    How do you recommend interacting with a child who, when given the opportunity to be near what you're doing, or involved with an activity, immediate tries to break items, undo what you are doing forcefully, or just to stop you doing what you're doing? I've tried to include without instructing, remove expectations, etc... but I am increasingly frustrated with the chaotic response...and I feel more and more at a loss.

    • @ummilovesme7706

      I'm not sure of the exact dynamics between you and your child, but is there a possibility that he is wanting a more direct connection with you? Perhaps sitting in your lap? Singing and rocking, playing finger games together? Or you can invite your child to do large motor movements to get the wiggles out before settling down to more quiet activities with you.

    This is interesting. I haven’t heard you typically can’t be heavy melancholic and sanguine. I’ve always “identified” as both. And I really really resonate deeply with both. I put my keys in the fridge and all sorts of things and I also can become very down. Hold the weight and and weightless at the same time. BUT I am diagnosed bipolar! So this is quite interesting!!

      So interesting. I am quite a scatterbrain, very friendly and bubbly. But am totally drained by social events and feel my body so much I often feel in pain. I resonate very deeply with both. When people make such black and white statements (like you can’t be heavily both sanguine and melancholic) I’m always wary. The spectrum of human experience is so vast. We are what we are!

      @@drakonidesthevigilant5155 it's not bad form, it's the truth. Bad form would be a racial slur. I actually wanted to hear the lecture, but couldn't understand the man, evidently you have more patience for that sort of thing. Want to do a lecture in my language, be flawless or lose my attention. It's disrespect - I would have done better with subtitles. I give no quarter for half hearted attempts. Thirty years ago he would have been severely reprimanded or laughed out of the hall, even ignored. As in other countries - since when is America so accepting of such things. If you don't tell them they don't choose eloquence. If they don't choose eloquence something is lost in translation or heard wrong, and that's how alot of outsourcing tends to get all balled up. There's enough trouble with the system as it is - don't go easy on them, I'm not trying to read his mind or anticipate his thoughts or really really overlisten to accommodate him, why should I. My family abandoned all they had to rise up in this country as in any other country it's even worse, the criteria to be accepted by colleges. That's why diction coaches exist. If I moved to or learned French it would be perfect out of respect as an example, especially if it's about study and intellectual communication.🤺

    Hey, any tips for Waldorfing up for a teenager? I'm moving and being put into a Waldorf high school, but I haven't been in the system before, so I'd like to understand the system and facets better. It seems like a lot of info and content is geared towards younger kids (which isn't a problem but it can translate weirdly). I'd also really like to design my room in a "Waldorf" style with lots of natural wood, bright walls, and more natural light but I haven't found any good inspiration or anything. Any help would be appreciated, thanks!

      @holistichomeaotearoa4911 3 года назад

      Hey Leo, I’ve never been asked this before! Thanks for getting in touch. The main thing about Waldorf education, especially for teens, is that it should be preparing you for real life, not just the academic stuff, the practical skills as well. The intent of a Waldorf education is that you are able to become the best you you can be. We want students to be happy, and free human beings, comfortable in their individuality. When you leave hopefully you feel you have the skills and the self confidence to do what ever you have come to the earth to do. Incorporating an aesthetic or artistic aspect to all your project and subjects will be a big focus too. So making sure the things you create or assignments you do are beautiful. The vibe behind the ‘traditional’ Waldorf design and architecture is that it’s influenced by shapes and forms you find in the natural world. Look up anthroposophical architecture, and anthroposophical sculpture (not that you need to be an anthroposophist, but that will help you find the style I think you are talking about)There’s a whole philosophy behind it, but depending on you and where you are from, you can alter it all to suit who you are. In saying all that, your teachers and school will have its own vibe, because Waldorf education should reflect the students who go there. Ultimately enjoy the experience and don’t worry about being a newbie, more people join later than you would think. The teachers and students will be super welcoming and help you learn the ropes pretty quick. Good luck! Let me know if you have any more questions
