One of the best live performances I have ever seen (would have been 'the' best if not for the extremely slow 3rd mov, brave but stretching the music a little too much imo). i love the poster headline 'Midday Masterpieces' - I hope this audience appreciated what they were present at. Also, Fazioli beats Steinway. Beautiful sound.

This is great Schumann playing. But I doubt whether the Arabesque op. 18 is such an emotionally overloaded piece as Kate Liu interprets it. Listen to Kempff, Rubinstein and orhers. They interpret it not as a tragedy taking place in the human soul as Kate Liu does but much more in the sense of the title.

I've finally found someone who agrees with my playing style. I always thought that most people played this wonderful and emotionally romantic piece too quickly. I had initially learned it the way you usually hear it, but it felt wrong to me. Thank you for your wonderful interpretation.

She takes great liberties with accepted baroque style but the rewards are great.

Kate is a great pianist and also a sweet person and humble. Many piano owners who appreciate a great and talented pianist, would also like to have Kate Liu's signature on their piano. By the way, it is a beautiful signature. God bless her.

I am listentng to this agan a lot now. It really is a perfect performance-I cannot fnd any fault n what she does here-absolute beauty in every way.

so I'm not the only fan of her. As far as I am able to understand her play it seems wonderful to me, transparent, special, expressive, precise, on the brink of perfection. Maybe more glitter, more glamour could propel her to the forefront. I just love the truthfulness and true depth of her play.

Sorry, aber von Beginn an fehlt es bei Kate liu an Spannkraft. Im ganzen weiteren Verlauf merkt man die Manki einer wirklich künstlerisch geistigen Erfassung und Bewältigung dieser großen Brahms-Sonate.

I can't believe how right,forceful without feeling pushed or too driven her Scherzo here is . The Scherzo is often played cheap and badly without the needed taste .Liu has a fine sensitivity and asense for architecture ! Always interesting to see what female players do in Brahms supposedly masculine ,august late Romantic era piano music ! Bachauer even tiny deLarrocha,Annie Fischer,dat crazy Nazi but superlative pianist EllyNeywas trecorded in it too,deBruchollerie played the 2nd concerto.Liu is an intelligent creative artist . I hope she will play the 2nd Sonata which though not formally perfect has always been my fave of the 3 .

Whoa, var 4 sounded very rushed to me. Seemed like the performer was stumbling over the scales a bit with how fast they were trying to take it. Sounds better to play more slowly and clearly in my opinion.
