The humungous cement buildings of concrete,steel and non stop running air conditioning is having unbelievable carbon imprint and few bushes and trees are grown presuming that's good enough to counter the erosion of the natural habitat and the felled trees. RERA is not enf,there has to be another AUTHORITY THAT MANDATES ,planting forests ,not just handful of plant seeds scattered to give just a facade of having greenery . What you are saying is fantastic and v v impressive ,but plz ensure the duplication of your words on ground What you say is extremely promising .ensure it actually happens and the urban landscape we see around is so ugly and jarring to the eyes n the ears and the soul. Also if u dnt mind do travel to Shimla The standardized cement blocks that you think are and i sister were lutyen creations ..are being used to destroy the eco system of the hills..actually they have eroded the actual mountain ,having cut it out n sliced it,now they r putting the ugly cement blocks in place of the actual mountain that existed there What befoolery .

I thought I'd be able to watch an interesting nuanced discussion on economics and policy. After 15 mins of hearing the words "top down", "Cartesian", "Euclidean" enough times to kill a man playing a drinking game and the other side interrupting unprovoked and trying to ask leading questions; I gave up. What poor display of politics and journalism on a platform where the audience would be smart enough to cut through your marketing and drama.

I think Sanjeev Sanyal is out of his depth in matters architectural and town planning. He seems to have a chip on his shoulder about the West. It's been 75 years since independence and yet 15 % of the population has no access to toilets, only 50% have access to clean drinking water 60 % of the population in Mumbai live in slums. Please get real and address real problems instead of railing against people who have solved or are actively solving most of their problems.

Govt is issuing funds to develop cities and the state governments are misusing the funds that are allocated for developing the cities and villages. still, we are living in such unhygienic places, with no proper roads, drainages, traffic signals, lines.. no parks, etc.. its been 75 years since independence we are not having properly planned cities yet. Central govt should bring a strict policy and make sure that each and every fund allocated for cities should be used for the development
