    Regarding the key fob slot... I've heard of people using it to store their fob while driving... A couple of years later, it no longer holds their fob. Also, it does not charge the fob. The fob has a non rechargable, replaceable battery. And lastly... if you unlock with one key fob and try to start with another (van will look for a fob in driver's seat) it'll ask you to put it in the slot... or if the battery is dead in the fob or the fob is not in the van, etc.

    Absolutely brilliant video! Thank you so much for all the hours it must have taken putting it together. Any comments on the maintenance costs of a MB say vs a Ford, and if you ever had issues while in the road and difficulty finding a MB dealer able help you out? Thanks again.

    • @JosephCabreraExplore
      @JosephCabreraExplore 8 месяцев назад

      Thanks for the kind words my friend- We had a good time putting this video together and glad you found it useful. So far maintenance on the MB has been minimal. We don't own a Ford STO Rig, but I would imagine that the maintenance costs (at least in the first few years) are still fairly minimal. We did have a small (somewhat temporary) issue with the turbo on the road, but was able to take it right into an MB Dealership and get it fixed. Most major cities have MB Dealerships that can work on the chassis, drivetrain, engine, etc under the factory warranty with no problem. However, we have found that when you get out of the major towns and are adventuring in some lesser known places, you may need to find smaller shops that are familiar with the STO. STO Customer Support and Owl Vans have been great resources to find folks they recommend to work on the van if you ever need. Hope that helps.

    I've been there a few times since they moved into Mesa/Phx. "Mod-ing" my van to the max. This is an example of a successful company with a CEO/Founder who actually knows how to do most of the fab and install work himself, even though he has a highly skilled team to do it. It makes a difference, and it shows. "Customer Experience" is actually real people answering the phone and walk-ins to help you with sales and support. Great tour!

    So what did you learn about his mic placement? Was trying to see if it was a lav there on the tip of his collar. Was it just a setting or placement that caused the distortion?

    • @JosephCabreraExplore
      @JosephCabreraExplore 8 месяцев назад

      Both of our mics were in the same general area (about chest-high). Some of that distortion likely came from needing to speak up with the heavy duty machines at work and partially the gain setting. Even with the sounds of American Manufacturing in the background, the audio overall still came through well. Unique environments always give us another opportunity to refine the craft.

    Thank you so much for these videos. My wife and I are seriously considering a Storyteller. We live in SW Louisiana and spend a great deal of time up in your neck of the woods in Menard County so AC and very beefy battery bank is a must. Are you still satisfied with the battery system in the Storyteller? Battery bank size is my only concern at this point and I am having a hard time finding real world reviews of newer Storytellers. Again, thanks for the videos I really enjoy them. Pet Crockett for us.

      Appreciate you tuning in and checking out our channel. I think the Storyteller is a great choice for warmer climates and we've been very happy with our battery system. We found that the A/C can run all night with no issues and as long as you do some driving throughout the day, it keeps the batteries charged. Our Beast Mode has a switch that we can engage and at around 20% battery life, it will auto start up the engine and rev to ~1500 rpm to charge the battery. So as long as you have diesel in the tank, you should have battery juice for quite some time. Hope that helps, let us know if you have any other questions. We'll keep the videos coming and will 100% give Crockett a few extra pets.
