I’m struggling with thoughts of wanting to die , I keep hearing kill yourself. My mom won’t stop doing stuff . I will say many times it went back and the Lord delivered me and she got sick from doing these things to me. Hi Brother in Christ, I’m hoping you could give some godly counsel. I’ll try and keep it as short as possible. I was married 6 years ago and got divorced within a year. We share a child and have been coparenting ever since. At first there was a lot of animosity because the divorce was mostly my fault although there were issues both sides. Our coparenting relationship had gotten much better over time, but my ex was in a relationship after our divorce. The relationship ended about 1-1.5 years ago. My ex then began her journey in faith. A few months back I felt that the Lord was leading me to pray for my ex by prioritising her in my prayers almost as a husband would do. I have been in what I see as a season of sacrifice for a while now and felt that God was moving my heart to this because He was purposing reconciliation. We got to speaking about our personal faith journeys and reconnected from a kingdom perspective. We moved quickly from that to discussion about remarriage. I definitely wanted to make her my wife again. We were both in agreement that we wanted to align our union with God’s principles which we never did before we got married. We slipped up a bit one night but before going all the way, I was convicted that this would be contrary to how God would want us to do this and immediately told her we need to stop and we did. The next day we were chatting online and everything seemed fine but out of the blue she said that she was feeling anxious and felt she might not be ready for marriage. I was hurt and saw that as rejection and didn’t respond the way I should have. We agreed to just take time and see how things went. We didn’t speak much in the weeks after that. The next thing I see is that she is in a relationship with another guy. This guy dated her cousin and after she dumped him, he started messaging my ex. This was sort of just before my ex and I were reconsidering reconciliation. She even told me initially that he messaged her but that she would not have considered it because he dated her cousin. I reached out to her afterwards because I was genuinely confused and hurt. She said that after I rejected her she moved on. When we were in the middle of thinking about reconciliation, she prayed and faster for a sign that God is ordaining our reconciliation and she got the exact sign she prayed for. After she moved on, I prayed and fasted and asked God to send me a sign that He knew I would understand on whether He ordained our reconciliation and I got a sign the next day that related to specific things my ex said and something specific to her concerning this sign. I asked this genuinely of God because I wanted to know if I need to move on and put it behind me, or draw closer to God and continue to pray for reconciliation. The person she is with seems like a nice guy, not sure of his status regarding faith, but now I have no idea if I was actually the counterfeit in the story. The fact that I did stop us from going all the way makes me think I am the godly man for her and that I would be able to lead us as God would want. I’m not sure if the disobedience we did show caused God to separate us to bring healing or if we were just not ordained to be together and this is the result.
