Restretching a hallway carpet to a tile edge.
In this video I'm resttetching a small hallway going towards a tile edge.
While relatively easy there are some particular parts of this people should know. One is you have to release the carpet on the sides as well as the end so that the carpet can move as a unit towards the tack strip.
Next you add some latex adhesive in the tile edge tack strip gap so that when it's stretched it'll not only hold to the tack strip and by the crimped in carpet but it will also have that glue. Without the glue the part between the tack strip and the tile the crimped area sometimes starts to flip out a little bit. Latex is only used against tile in a opening not along walls.
Cutting is extremely careful he...

how to install carpet tack strip bordering tile using a nail bar. By Hilbrands carpet care.

Nailing tack strip is hard adding the issue of older blistered concrete and having it border tile you are going to have a tough time. I often use a nail bar to help me out. It has some major advantages it allows you to be offset so the hammer never goes next to the tile ( a slight miss may make it bounce into a tile) and also all hits are directed perfectly perpendicular to the head of the nail...

Cleaning and removing carpet makeup stains by Hilbrands Carpet Care

In this video I show how professional carpet cleaning can remove stubborn make up stains. I always start with degreaser as it removes some of the kid washable stuff. The thicker oil based stuff requires a solvent and scraping. Its important to continue to use the degreaser however to keep the color stain suspended and help make the rinse more complete. I like using a smaller spotting stair wand...

When you feel the nails coming through the tack strip there's a simple solution. A number of my Carpet cleaning and repair customers mention this and I fix it for them. But it is so simple and that is bending them back down but you do have to be careful about chipping tile. Hammer carefully and use something to protect your tile like the way I hold the cardboard here. Also your goal isnt to get...

    I’ve lived in this house for 2 years and in that two years I have stepped on these dang nails so many times. Well today I stepped on a nail while carrying the first cup of coffee of the day, stepping on it made me spill a little coffee on my socked foot and the nail ripped a little hole in my sock… and that whole thing was just totally the last straw!!! 😅 can’t believe this was such an easy fix!!! I’m going to go fix all of the nails right now!!

      Sounds like it has to be lifted to inspect. Sometimes people or contractors staple the edge and they pop up they are not supposed to be used at doorways but it does happen sometimes another possibility is the actual nails that hold down the tack strips are not properly nailed in and they can be felt (you cant sink these without lifting carpet at edge). Neither option is likely however but an installer could figure out what is up. if you hammered them down to flat they can be bent back up and glue added so no real harm was done but a good reason to not go crazy with the hammering. Also if lifting is necessary have an installer do it as edge is often glued and it will need restretching.

  • @johnhilb
    @johnhilb 6 месяцев назад

    I wanted to add your goal isnt to get the angled nail flat but angled just a bit lower so as to not be felt through while they can be bent back up its best to not mash a tack strip to death and make the next install difficult. By the way this is checked or done if necessary by every installer at the transitions as they install your new carpet especially if its thinner or cheaper carpet.

    • @johnhilb
      @johnhilb 8 месяцев назад

      Yes me too not sure what you mean by tags I wish I had started by showing what a tack strip looks like basically its a narrow strip around the perimeter of the room with short angled pin sized nails going up at about a 45 degree angle then when the carpet is stretched forward as it relaxes it pulls down into the angle and keeps tight the angle is very important but a thin carpet or if carpet is pulled a lot they can poke through.

  • @igende

    Thank you for posting this, impossible to figure out without breaking something if you don't have some explanation first. I've had more than a dozen cars, drove them all over 200K and never had a leak at the heater core connection on any of them, including my current GM truck at 300K+. Leave it to Ford to over engineer a simple connection and cause a problem. They could have simply attached a hose directly with a clamp, but no they have to use clip on plastic that gets brittle over time with heat and rubber o rings that will eventually leak. Minga. Camera work could use some improvement too much movement :-). Thanks again though a life saver!

    So I see this is running in Windows 7 + an Office 2007 version. Will this work in Windows 10? Also can this be adapted to use with a MySQL server? this is exactly what I needed for my business but do I also have the ability to make tweaks for custom attributes and fields? I'm new to MS Access but I also do IT so this shouldn't be too hard to pick up.

      not sure how you would do that perhaps a floor sander the scraper only works because of the hard concrete it needs the hard surface to scrape against on wood I doubt it would work.

    I found an easier way to remove the hose was to use thin piece of nylon rope wrapped around between the black hose end and white lock tab. Once rope was wrapped around, I crossed the ends and cinched the rope tight to compress the release tab. May require two people, one to cinch release tab and one to pull hose.
