Amazing Documentary, but every time any one of these people talk it starts with "We were committing a crime, but not one we think is that bad"... hold up! And you wonder why people have a negative opinion of you? You wonder why opportunities become limited? You could be educated to be a mechanic or electrician. Industrious kids used to go from garage to garage, or phoning through the yellow pages hawking for a job. 100 times you'd get told no, then there would be that one fella who saw something in you or just wanted to give you a leg up and they'd take you on. It's a clear failure of integration leading to social tension and clashes. They clearly aren't downtrodden the Local Government helped them set up a book shop. The Locals from the press line clearly hated the National Front and the Police clearly liked beating them up. Also, Police Planned the Riot??? They aren't the ones burning down buildings and erecting barricades. Police are going to show up in force if there is information of a potential riot. Why paint yourself into a corner or react? Nothing happening would have belayed police concerns, made other communities feel safer and ultimately would have led to great respect and mutual understanding. Instead every see's a riot and it cements the thought "Black people are violent by nature and can't be reasoned with". Which is surely untrue.

i was at the rear of heathfield road two days before it happened. I was waiting for some car parts for a mg. so I went for a walk it been a few years I had been that way as I had left birmingham a long time before. as I walked over their was a chap making a steel drum and we got chatting. at that about eight black youths approached us and the a was talking to told them to get me drink as I had come a long way. which they did and we chatted they were renovating the houses in heathfield road and doing a nice job. I left and went up heathfield road to villa cross and turned down lozzels road toward sixways. when I passed the of top anglsey street I was appalled to see piles of tyres and rubbish as high as the houses it used to a vauxhall garage and rats running all over it. the people should never had to live like that. it was a disgrace. please remember the lads I spoke to were very kind and obliging.

Big up Bingy, I was a DJ on the original PCR from pretty much the beginning when the studio was in his yard on Thursby Street off Leeds Road. I made some good friends and I have cherished memories of being a part of the PCR family back in the day. Which resulted in piecemeal half heartened help to keep them quiet. I grew up in Keighley but boxed in Bradford as a young lad from 1974 where there were a great group of afro Caribbean lads boxing out of clubs such as Bradford YMCA, a great community of people and I never remember any problems of racism, everyone got on so well even though you may be boxing each other regularly, I remember many good lads from my early days such as the Campbell brothers Carl and Errol Tony Bogle and many more top lads, the one person that sticks in my mind that I admired and loved to watch box was Clement George a brilliant boxer who in today's situation I would have backed to go on to big things, Clement must have just decided to pack in boxing and have not seen or heard of him for many years, I occasionally think back and wonder what he moved on to and hope Clement is well, any body in contact with him I would love to hear that he had found another hobby and continued with his success, along with many other brilliant members of the great Bradford Afro Caribbean boxing community 👍
