Hello and thank you for watching! I hope the video was helpful, feel free to ask any questions you might have🤗 I am knitting size 38/40 (Europe size) I based the pattern off of the pattern linked under. Hi Elin, I just made some avocado buttons. I was wondering if you wash your clothing with these buttons.. does it give off color? As avocado pits are also used as a natural dye. If yes, is there a way to prevent the color from leaching onto the fabric? Is there like a natural and durable way to seal the avocado buttons so they can endure washing and don't / or no longer give off color? What has your experience been like, after using them for some time now? Kind regards, L
These are cute! And you can make tea out of the husk and the pit pcs that weren't suitable for buttons.
Is there a pattern to go with this? Xx
Yay! Thank you for putting this up again Elin!
Help...i was knitting the brown cardigan from your tutorial, and now the video is hidden....how shall i finish it?
@@Cherylcoder sorry! I will make it public again!
@@elinsDIY thank you so much Elin! Also my avocado buttons are drying nicely. I really enjoy your videos
@@Cherylcoder ohh thank you so much!! 🥰
@@Cherylcoder and sorry that I had taken the cardigan video down, I wasn’t quite happy with it, and tought most people had stopped watching/needing it🙈
BRAVO!
My husband works at a fast food joint and has been bringing me home avocado pits until I finally make the buttons. I think today's the day! Thanks for this awesome, informative video!
Adorable! Thanx for posting your adventures with the famed Avocado Stone!!💕🥑
Thank you for watching! 💕
Omg I'm obsessed! Thank you for sharing your mistakes and normalising that they happen. Not only does it save the rest of us from making the same ones, it also prevents EVEN MORE wastage than you already are by reusing the pips and teaching us how to <3
Thank you!! 🥰
Yes what a wonderful way to memorise, meditate and laud our Heavenly Father 🙏 in painting a prayer verse.
🥰❤️
I will make it! Thank you so much!
do they stand up to washing? They look so cute!
I like the unevenness of the buttons. Maybe those ones can be used in a craft item like a tote or bag or pillow case or a one-button top. Like how you showed how to remedy imperfections. Good video.
Good ideas🤩 thank you so much! 🫶🏻
This is so cute and wholesome. Thank you. (And thanks for showing your mistakes. xx)
Thank you so much! 🥰
I love just made will make more for gifts!😊
Great idea🥰
Avocado pits are toxic for humans!!
I'm so glad the algorithm brought me here! What a fun video. I like the imperfections. Handmade goods should always be a little imperfect, imho.
Thank you so much! 🫶🏻
This is the kind of DIY I love! Such a cute idea. I never knew it eas possible.
Thank you so much! 🫶🏻
Who clicked on this because of @reallyverycrunchy mom's obsessive idea to make these in the middle of the night? 😅❤
First video of yours I've seen, and I love the verse at the end 😊 One question: do you know if the buttons will wash well in a machine, or should they only be used on a hand wash item?
These buttons are beautiful! I love their texture and chunky feel
Thank you so much🫶🏻
since avocado pits can be used to dye cloth, isn't it possible that the buttons could dye the clothes when they get washed? especially on light garments.
How do you go about sizing this? Do i just hope it fits?
👏👏👏👏👏
Thank you🫶🏻
Very glad about halfway through the video you stopped drilling right next to your hand! If anyone wants to prevent the rotating button problem by not holding it, a piece of tape over the entire thing will do the trick, you'll still see the button outline with a blue tape too
This is so cool!!
Thank you!!
Thanks this is very cute!
Thank you for watching🫶🏻
@reallyverycrunchy in that short where she got a million dollar idea in the middle of the night 😂. Ngl it is a pretty dope 👍.
I know😂
I know a whole bunch of people who are into doing stuff like this. I'll be sure to show them. It's a fun idea.
Thank you! 😄
This is so cool! 💙
Thank you!
Thank u ❤
Thank you for watching❤️
I loved this
Thank you!
this is so cute. :3 the idea of having avocado buttons is so adorable for some reason.
I know right🙊 Thank you!
Omigosh @reallyverycrunchy did a reel on this very thing
Haha yes I saw it!!
I know everyone's saying it but thanks for putting the bloopers in :) When most people make videos everything is too perfect, they always have fancy tools, there's no improvisation, there is 0 mess and it's just not what making crafts is really like!
Thank you very much! 🫶🏻
Thank you very much for this video <3 I really love the idea! very creative, I'm definitely gonna try this ^^
Thank you so much! Good luck🫶🏻
I didn’t have the best day today, but I just came across this video and I’m ending my day with with inspirational video that had the most perfect reminder for me at the very end. Thank you for sharing this video ♥️ 🥑
Aww thank you so much for that sweet comment! God bless you❤️
How long do the buttons live or last?
Did the garment turn pink after washing it? Avocado pits can be used to naturally dye fibre...
this is the cutest thing ever. for some reason i always thought the pits became hollow when dried out. thank you for the lesson ✅
Thank you so much!🫶🏻
Maybe next time use a smaller drill bit ❤
That's so cool, i definitely want to try this, love the look of the finished buttons on the wool - organic, a bit rough.
Thank you so much! 🫶🏻
Ерасная идея. Я буду делать такие пуговицы тоже. ❤
Привет тебе из России) мы тебя любим! Все чмоки и миллионы лайков!
Ohh thank you so much! 🫶🏻
Wow! So amny avocado pips and nothing to do with them till now... This must be one of the best odeas ever.😅 Love it! Thankssss
Haha thank you so much! 🫶🏻
They look like they didn't expect me to be there. Tell them they don't need to cover up their vitiligo with beeswax for me, I love them just as they are. (They look like endearing little faces 😅)
😆❤️
Thank you❤
I can feel the beginning of my crunchy mom era beginning. I just started seriously gardening to the point where we can eat from it
That is so cool ❤
How fun!!
have you ever had any problems with oils from the buttons staining your clothes?
Nope, they're as dry and hard as wood!
it's a good idea to drill a small pilot hole first! if you use the large bit right away, you're putting a lot more stress on your material and it can split - use a smaller bit first and work your way up, gradually expanding the hole to minimize this. cool idea, next time i buy avocados i'll have to try this! i enjoy how they look like little pig snouts. it's really cute 🐽🐽🐽
