Dinosaur is one of my favorite movies that also inspired me to become a 3D animator, the only tragedy here is that all the good movies like this one have already been made, and I won't ever get to work on anything like it. Also Talking Dino's are infinitely better than the ones that don't speak, I am the opposite of the people in this video, I get discouraged when they don't talk!

He was a hero for starting the conversation or at least making it more well known. I’m a woman and I’m a feminist but I also have limits. I acknowledge the pain and brutalization that white supremacy has brought on ethnic men. I hate how people are quick to shut down anyone who talks about the imbalances. I hate how women of color have a thing for bootlicking white men (especially Asian women). People need to own up to it and speak up about it

Don't know why the crew and audiences were making such a fit over not wanting the dinosaurs to speak. I mean it's not like you can't have a mature story with talking dinosaurs. Those aren't mutually exclusive things.

16:33 This is so funny to me, because even as a kid, I thought the first 6 minutes of the movie were the best part, and everything went downhill the second the lemurs were introduced. The Carnosaurus chase sequence on its own thrilled me and had me on the edge of my seat, wondering if the little dinosaur contained within the egg would survive to adulthood if its existence was under such threat before it was even born. Disney really underestimated how many kids LOVE nature documentaries, BECAUSE of all their drama and violence, not despite it. Survival horror as a genre is super compelling, and the prehistoric world as re-imagined and reconstructed by humans minds is the best setting I can think of for such a film. What a shame that the only animation studios large enough to undertake a mature story just wanted to dumb it down "for kids." :/ Kids can feel it when adults condescend to them, and movie plot lines are no different. I certainly noticed. Bambi and Fantasia were among my most rewatched movies in elementary school; I would have adored a no-dialogue animated movie about Dinosaurs in a similar vein as presented in the trailer. Hell, I'd enjoy that now too, lol.

Imagine if we got a version of this movie where the characters don’t talk, but this time the main character is an Edmontosaurus and he gets adopted by a huge family of Purgatorius which are believed to be close relatives to Primates, and then later they come across a herd of dinosaurs that consist of other Edmontosaurus, and also other species like Triceratops, Ankylosaurus, Ornithomimus, Pachycephalosaurus, Thescelosaurus, Therizinosaurus & Alamosaurus all in the same herd together, and the main threats are T. Rexes (which would be the killer of the main Edmontos parents at the beginning of the movie) also Dakotaraptor’s, Quetzalcoatlus & Deinosuchus, and it would’ve taken place in Late Cretaceous North America (there’s evidence for Therizinosaurids being in North America during the Late Cretaceous albeit its somewhat scarce) and the animals would all be up to date in terms of paleontological accuracy.

Rules out styracosaurus and replaces it with iguanodon as the main dinosaur cause they were too difficult to animate because they insist that the dinosaurs should talk Struggles to animate iguanodon because of its beak and turns out giving facial expressions to styracosaurus was way easier I love this movie but its clear they didnt had a clear vision about it

No offense but I have zero sympathy for him because his WMAF vs AMWF bullshit made me go through an entire phase where I felt like I had to hate being half white in order to "save" myself (I'm especially pissed because I literally had ZERO issues with my race until then) and although I eventually got over the extreme parts, only a therapist can help me fully recover at this point. I have struggled with self-hatred so I know firsthand how awful it is. I typically feel sorry for people who struggle with it, but I lose all sympathy for them if they go around taking it out on others.

Twice enthusiasm for the film deflates after studio execs demand that the realistic dinosaurs should not only talk, but make constant wisecracks... (the other film being 2013 Walking with Dinosaurs)

It's so funny. I feel two films from our past could've done better if the opposite had been done for them: Spirit and Dinosaur. It's Dinosaur that should've had the narrative approach whilst Spirit: Stallion of the Cimarron, should've had talking roles. I feel had these changes (or rather, according to this video, original voiceless concept for Dinosaur) happened, both these films would have more of a impact in animation history than they did. Then again, a lot of 2002 Spirit fans would agrue that talking horses would've ruined the impact of the film as it is, but it was one of the downfalls to it's success, that once parents found out the horses didn't talk, they didn't take their kids and saw Shrek 2, instead. (Funny how the opposite happened for these films, where people didn't go see Dinosaur cause of the talking animals.) Dinosaur is still a beautiful film and I did enjoy the talking roles, regardless of the hyper realism. It just was too similar to Land Before Time to really hit home for me as one of Disney's greatest films. I'm surprised Disney was so secretive about a plot that had already been done during marketing. I would've seen why the test audience would've been upset over Land Before Time, the Disney version, but the talking part being a surprise makes you think the test audience had never seen a Disney film prior. While I agree a non-talking approach would've been better, I don't get the shock and awe factor completely when you hear the name "Disney" attached to something. Now the Noah concept, that would've been amazing and a great competitor to "Prince of Egypt". Maybe then the audience would've forgiven the talking aspect of the characters. But given Disney has turned down religious ideas and IPs before (McGee & Me notably, basically the show that walked, so Veggie Tales could run) because they would need to censor the majority of the messaging, I guess it would've scratched heads as to why they suddenly decided to jump on this ship (Other than copying Dreamworks, and then we would've gotten into a whole other ordeal of Disney being afraid of other studios). Of course, Disney has dabbled into biblical stories before, but never with a serious tone that would've been Dinosaur had they stayed that course and to my knowledge, not in the format of a full length feature film. I still hold Dinosaur as having one of the best soundtracks of any Disney film. It's up there with Hans Zimmer's Lion King scores. It's beautiful, it gives you shivers up and down your spine. Honestly, we haven't had many moving soundtracks from Disney since. They certainly don't score movies like they used too. This movie is still a comfort film for me, however. It would be nice to see a reboot of it, if Disney is still determined to make remakes of it's past films. It's one of the Disney films that deserves a remake and would WORK as one, along with Treasure Planet and Atlantis. But seeing as they're going to be re-doing Dinoland USA, and with it will be scraping Dinosaur's ride for good, I don't see any hope for this IP every returning to us soon.

Damn! The production of Disney’s dinosaur feels like a what could’ve been story sure I think other animated dinosaur movies have had worse productions especially the walking with dinosaurs movie but I feel like the concept of could’ve been really cool but unfortunately for Disney it was at the wrong place at the wrong time we really haven’t had an animated dinosaur movie where theirs no talking and the dinosaurs are just normal dinosaurs with the exception of the rite of springs segment in fantasia I mean it happened with don bluth with land before time, it happened here with Disney with dinosaur, it happened with the bbc and animal logic with the walking with dinosaurs movie and it happened with Pixar with the good dinosaur I think it’s just because corporate executives don’t really think a silent animated movie with dinosaurs wouldn’t be that appealing for audiences the only animated media I can think where the dinosaurs didn’t talk were the shows walking with dinosaurs (but then again that show had a narrator) and Genndy Tartakovskys Primal
