Coomera local of 35+ years here. The field you’re flying over there is the old Beattie Family farm. They owned most of Coomera from the early 1900s & now rest at the old Coomera cemetery. Great footage!

I do wonder if the build will linger over the next 20 years, like the M1 did at Robina after the town centre opened.

Looks like they still have enough room to expand hopefully they’re able to connect the precinct to Wild West as a “short cut”

And yes, Premier Wayne Goss proposed the 2nd road from the Coast to the Gateway ahead of the 1995 election but ultimately lost the election due in part to a fear that the road would kill off koala populations south east of Brisbane.

Im pretty sure you can buy yagi range extentenders for your remote.

I live next to Nerang Station. The progress seems slow to me but I think they have run into some problems with all the water. They had to dig up a large area and lay drainage fabric. It really is a waste of money. Better roads just attract more motorist. Check out the Katy Freeway in Houston, Texas. Billions spent making it 26 lanes and now the traffic is just as bad. The solution would be to put a toll on the M1 which would deter people from using the road. The Qld government knows all this but it would not be popular with the voters.

Although the video is nicely edited and neat to watch, I haven't got even the slightest idea what part of the road I'm looking at, due to the constantly shifting direction.

I can remember Wayne Goss wanted this and the bloody greens stopped it for the kolas what’s the difference now kolas seemed to vanish it would have been half the cost 🤷‍♀️ the greens are Australia’s worst enemy don’t worry about china just keep voting for the greens

so they could've add more stations...widen the gauge on the track, and make the heavy train go into main part of Gold Coast and airport...instead they went for a highway connection, despite it being proven time and time again making more highways with lanes wont do...much within long term of palnning.

I also heard some of those townhouses in the surrounds Helensvale have been purchased for the road.

Sad to see all the trees gone but I look forward to using the new road.

That road corridor running next to tracks runs all way down the coast through Nerang to around Burleigh. " Proposed future road corridor" GC is not a place that is serious about long term residents. Get em in, fleece em, and get em to leave. If they don't leave make it uninhabitable.

In ~20 years or so the houses behind the Coomera Connector (Hope Island Station) will be resumed to widen the road.... The joys of the Gold Coast where no long term planning of major north-south roads were never planned.

Crazy how much space it needs. noise levels is going to get interesting. the M1 is easily audible from over 2kms away with hills in the way. wonder how this is going to ad to that.

what a horrible project, the destruction it causes is way too big. And as any other highway project, it will not reduce congestion - in the long run it will make it worse. They need to invest in public transport instead

Incredible to see this happening now. I remember them talking about building this thing back when Robina Town Centre started construction in 1994. This city has changed a lot since then.

The stupidest decision ever. Australia is just like America with our Urban Planning. Invest in quality public transport, not more roads which is only going to circumvent the problem.
